Hello. I found that Factory's cmake became incapable to build the package with rpath a month ago. See https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/home:DarkSS:stuff/plee-th… f.e. "-DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH=ON" fixes the building process but the app became broken. [opensuse-factory] lvm crypto workaround

Hello, For those running into the problem, that lvm crypto is not working: remove splash=silent from boot parameters. This will show a text based console and password input, but at least works (and looks nicer for someone who started Linux on an i386 without graphics :-) ). Idea came from reading this bug report: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=834063 Now I can install factory on my company laptop, where policy requires encrypted HDD (but luckily does not rule out devel quality software :-) ). [opensuse-factory] gnome password dialog changes

hi, recently gnome upstream changed the default to show the last character you typed into a password dialog. This is similar to what e.g. Android does. This didnt bother me because there was a setting to turn off that behavior: /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini gtk-entry-password-hint-timeout = 0 But with a new commit [1] they ignore that option now. I would like to ask to revert that last bit and leave the option intact for people who really dont want the new behavior. [opensuse-factory] librsvg downgraded in Factory

Hi all, A few days ago, librsvg was updated to version 2.39.0; it is marked to address a security issue (allows to load random files from disk). The fix though seems a bit too restrictive, as it resulted in various applications not being able to load their files anymore (e.g. gnome-shell had no icons in the top panel, apps like evince missed their buttons). As a remediation, we reverted back to 2.37.0 (last release before). Note is to be given to the fact that 'zypper up' will not 'down'grade (it's in the name, no?) to 2.37.0 an would remain on the restrictive version. so if you already have the 'broken' librsvg version installed, either use 'zypper dup' (anyway, I'd say mostly advised in Factory), or take care yourself to install librsvg- So, as soon as Factory finishes building and publishing, you should really take care of that to enjoy your desktop. [opensuse-factory] Factory on susestudio

Dumb question... It seems like putting factory milestones on susestudio would really improve testing, because it would be so much easier for people to test their favorite program/configurations. The feature request was rejected however because it's "not really doable... the way Studio is set up" ... https://features.opensuse.org/309314 That seems a shame. With current Factory (I think it happend already last week) sometimes the autologin does not work. If that happens, even switching consoles does not work, no idea if systemd would allow it at this stage. ssh is already enabled, so this is what I see. Is there some other reference with more cmdline options for starting installation? KMS obeys valid video= on cmdline, but X ignores it. As you can see on http://fm.no-ip.com/Tmp/SUSE/Factory/xorg.0.log-t2240i845G-os131m4inst.txt I have video=1152x864@70 on 13.1m4+ installation cmdline, which the display is adjusted correctly WRT size and position to use, and which the framebuffer ttys are using. YaST via the modesetting driver, which apparently insists on using the EDID preferred mode, consistently if the connected gfxchip is any of several onboard Intel models puts the right side of the output offscreen, which means I never get to see the rightmost scrollbar in software selection, and the scrollbar on the summary screen, precisely the places where scrollbars most needed. The display is correctly adjusted for all modes I use on purpose, so I don't want to disturb the sleeping dog by adjusting it for a mode I don't even want used, likely stealing the little memory it has allocated for the modes I do use. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
