[opensuse-factory] text select in KDE4 - often omits the first or last character - can this be adjusted?

Listmates, One strange annoyance with KDE4 is text selection. For the myriads of select the middle-mouse pastes that are done routinely, many times KDE4 text select misses/omits the first or last character of the text block that was copied. This occurs even when the first/last character is within the highlighted text block for copying. Has something changed in the text selection code/highlighting that could account for this? If so, what to check or set to have this behave like it did in kde3. This behavior occurs not only in kapp (kmail, etc.) but also when copying from Firefox, etc. Has anyone else noticed this in kde4? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. [opensuse-factory] reporting kde crashes

All, I just had dolphin segfault. Realized I was not running the latest KDE 4.3 beta, so I'm installing that now before I report anything. But it left me wondering how to report it now anyway. I believe the kde4 crash reporter is now working. Is doing that good enough? Or do we still need to file a opensuse bugzilla? Ahoi, Stephan Binner asked on the -kde list if people have a suggestion for applications to be included as a bit of free space turned up, well people didn't mind the question beeing asked on the -kde list so most went ahead and suggested mc ;-) There was no way stopping them, not even telling them to ask on -factory, so well here it is, alot of people asked for it and I guess they are right. Hi, I'm out of office for about two weeks starting today. I tried to finish M3 today, so we can enable as-needed afterwards. This is still work in progress, but Adrian will pick this up from LinuxTag, I hope it all works out ;( M3 will be rough in any case due to the many build failures in the last weeks I had little time to do actual distribution testing, but the live cds worked and the DVD install had only a minor flaw (the bootloader config claims it failed but then it booted fine). [opensuse-factory] accessibility issues in opensuse

hi, I would like to give some important notes/hints about the opensuse accessibility and I'm not sure which mailinglist is the right one I know there are some support list for suse-blinux, but i would like to give some accessibility hints in general I know that "marco skambraks" was responsible for most of the accessibility issues until 11.1 AFAIK, Marco is now working full-time for the mono-a11y project does opensuse have an "opensuse accessibility manager"? here are my notes/hints: Major accessibilityfeatures in opensuse 11.1: Grub-menu with speech-support (only available in opensuse) Perfect Brailledisplay detection (serial/usb). Detecting serial brailledisplays works only under opensuse distro. Featureritch and userfriendly Consolescreenreader sbl (suse-blinux). Unfortunately many other distros are using brltty as default textmode screenreader. But I know that many users of other distros are using sbl as well. Usualy they have to build sbl from source. Major features in suse-blinux sbl (missing in brltty) are: 1. attribute cursor tracking (yast, mc ...). 2. Customizable braille / keyboard keymaps 3. Application based userprofiles 4. suseblinux works with braille and speech, with braille, without braille speech-only) and braille-only. Orca (gnome screenreader): In opensuse 11.1 orca has excelent braillesupport through sbl/brld (brld = brailledaemon). Most gtk Apps are accessible except firefox shipped with opensuse. See bug #508611 under http://bugzilla.novell.com Unfortunately many things are broken now under opensuse 11.2 milestone 3. Unfortunately it looks like that suse/novell does not longer improove the accessibility of opensuse. The approaches in opensuse 11.1 were almost perfect. The exciting new features like the braillesupport in (textmode/gnome) and the talking grub menu should be improoved to get a well working accessibility infrastructure in the future. Currently the following things are broken in opensuse 11.2: 1. orca braillesupport (brld/sbl). 2. firefox 3. unstable talking grub menu 4. Traditional gnome mainmenu should be activated by default (if a11y is enabled). 5. Orca should respect language setting in groubmenu (gnome live cd). My Questions: 1. who has the responsibility for accessibility support in opensuse. 2. does opensuse still invest into a wellworking accessibility (a11y) infrastructure like other distros? 3. Is it possible to simplify bugzilla for opensuse? currently it's hard to file bugs because there is no category for accessibility. Suse-linux 7.0 was the first out of the box accessible distro. Opensuse 11.1 was another milestone for a11y. It would be nice to see that novell / suSE invest in accessibility in future distros. [opensuse-factory] linker error in Factory

Hi, there is a strange (to me) linker error in Factory for the package MozillaFirefox: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=i586&package=Mozilla… The needed libraries are there and also referenced in the linker command. I can reproduce the error when building locally with osc build but I can't really find the issue as executing the very same linker command manually works without throwing errors. I'm a bit confused. Hi, After good experiences with PA in 10.3 and bad in 11.0 and 11.1 I'd like to propose you something. Ensure 11.2 gets rock stable PA without all the stupid glitches (I don't know - reconfigure kernel to suit his needs or do anything what helps) to get rid of users hating everyone and everything or just remove it. If you successfully get rock stable PA, add tight GNOME integration like Fedora did. I tried PA 0.9.15 with ALSA 1.0.18 and I'm not sure if it's going to get better. Additionaly, every crash of PA == crash of Tomboy, GNOME-Panel, Nautilus.
