Hi all , i'm trying to prevent the automatic loading of ati_remote module during boot by udevd according to http://en.opensuse.org/Kernel_module_configuration i should create a /etc/modprobe.conf.local file with following content: blacklist ati_remote but module is still loaded after reboot :-( adding this to /etc/modprobe.d/00-system.conf will create a kernel panic during reboot :-( message i get is : starting udevd: Kernel panic - not syncing: stack-protector : Kernel stack is corrupted in: f8773a6b and numlock led is blinking removing this line , will enable booting again but will disable my X10 remote controle device luc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse-factory] Devel packages not a links to Factory

Hi, during work on fix for apache2-mod_jk I found that even if the Apache:Modules/apache2-mod_jk is marked as devel project, it contains completely different package with newest version and a different history, which makes it as devel project unusable. So I converted it to source link and submit a fix again. Anyway I used an attached Python script to find all packages not have the _link in a filelist - their maintainers would consider to fix it. I also attached a list of affected packages. BTW: is there any simple way how to convert the package to source link? I used the sequence osc linkpac openSUSE:Factory $PACKAGE $PROJECT osc rremove $PROJECT $PACKAGE `osc ls $PROJECT $PACKAGE | grep -v _link` but it messed the commit log, because every one deletion is one commit. [opensuse-factory] Is it useful to report problems encountered when installing factory with the M6 NET iso ?

As I haven't been able to get M7 and M8 to install at all, I went back to the M6 NET iso and tried to install factory. In the Partitioner, when trying to set up an exisintg partition for swap, I am told "The partition XXXX is in use. It cannot be edited ...". [opensuse-factory] Yast SW Management - Where is the Formatted Output?

Devs, Will the yast software management interface be cleaned up for the released version? Currently during updates/install you get what appears to be the output of a for or while loop scrolling by as each package is updated instead of the concise formatted output showing the packages remaining to be installed from each repository and the total. Over the past 4-5 releases, the yast sw management module has aways provided that type of ordered view of the remaining packages to be installed. In the current version it looks like somebody put a test printf statement in to show the output of the loop that goes through the package list to dump output to the screen and just left it there. I thought that was just the state of the module due to it being in Factory, but I'm concerned that this may be overlooked and don't want it to be forgotten for the official release. The output for the sw management module should show the list of repositories from which packages remain to be installed -- with the number of packages that remain to be installed from each repository shown -- and the total size and number remaining -- just like it always has. [opensuse-factory] No plugin found for 'Microsoft Media Format'

Hello all I have few friends who like listening to music on the Internet - the problem is that the sites in question require the 'Microsoft Media Format' plugin How / where can I get such a plugin for FireFox and Konqueror for v11.2? It is one of last plugins I need to still get working... I believe that the correct 'Windows plugin' is wmpfirefoxplugin.exe and it is available for download at http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-downloa… ***What would be the equivalent for v11.2 ?*** I imagine that the 'Microsoft Media Format' is a restricted format but while I can't remember what I did to get it working - I do know that I can the play music using this format with Konqueror on a v11.0 installation. [opensuse-factory] No Internet since Update M7 -> M8

Hi all, yesterday i've made an update to M8 by "zypper dup". Maybe two weeks ago i've done a installation of M7 from scratch with the network-installation CD and since then i had updated it from time to time by "zypper up". Last time maybe 4 days ago. So, since yesterday i have trouble with my internet connection from this machine. This machine is a toshiba notebook with intel 3945 wlan, and it should have a connection to a fritzbox 3270, address is given by dhcp from the fritzbox. Security option is WPA2. Fact is, the notebook does have a connection to the fritzbox, it is getting an IP-address, but the name resolution into the internet isnt working. I CAN reach my other machines by IP and also by name (this is the reason why i can write this mail). route says (while connected via eth0): Kernel IP Routentabelle Ziel Router Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 192.168.2.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 2 0 0 wlan0 192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 1 0 0 eth0 default 192.168.1.254 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 What i've done so far: - switched from wireless to cable (eth0) to the same router: no effect. - switched from Networkmanager to ifup-method: no effect. - switched from dhcp to manual addressing: no effect. - deleted ~/.kde4/apps/networkmanagment and ~/.kde4/config/networkmanagmentrc: no effect. - deleted the complete folder ~/.kde4: no effect. I have an application that ceases to work after Milestone 7 update. python-wxGTK-2.8.10.1-2.1.x86_64 installed. The following modules don't exist. Are there alternatives or is there another package needed - I haven't seen one that seems likely to supply them. Hey Group; I have been chasing down a Firefox and Opera problem . The problem is something is calling up Adobe acroread multiple times before it calls up the program. Using "Exit" kills acroread for a second or so and up it comes again. This goes on over and over until it stops and then up comes the program. I did a save and complete removal of /usr/lib/browser-plugin and that solved the problem. Before doing this I moved flashplayer.so, nppdf.so and npwwrapper.nppdf.so to /tmp for a test. That did not fix it. Only removing the complete /usr/lib/browser-plugin did fix it. Hi group, In the latest milestone i have the following problem: Starting dvgrab in usermode gives me: raw1394 - failed to get handle: Permission denied In kdenlive i get a picture only when started in root. How can i change the permissions for raw1394 for users?
