[opensuse-factory] Is it useful to report problems encountered when installing factory with the M6 NET iso ?
As I haven't been able to get M7 and M8 to install at all, I went back to the M6 NET iso and tried to install factory. In the Partitioner, when trying to set up an exisintg partition for swap, I am told "The partition XXXX is in use. It cannot be edited ...". I checked and the partition is not activated as swap-space, so how can it be in use? /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (10.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It usually means that the partition is either included in existing LVM (volume group) or in existing RAID. You might want to check your LVM setup for any leftover volume groups (analogically with RAID setup). Only after removing the partition from existing volume group/RAID, it can be re-used as swap space hB. -- \\\\\ Katarina Machalkova \\\\\\\__o YaST developer __\\\\\\\'/_ & hedgehog painter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Katarina, but this server doesn't use LVM nor software RAID. The partition is one of two on an HP/Compaq Smart array controller. My main question was really what I put in the subject line, i.e. is it useful to report problems encountered when installing factory with the M6 NET iso? /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Never mind, I've just realized that this is the same problem already reported in bug 538351, it just manifested itself slightly different. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
