Does anyone know if kernel 2.6.26 will make it in 11.1? There will be some new drivers for the Hauppauge TV cards that would be greatly appreciated by folks setting up home PVR's. [opensuse-factory] Cannot determine type for repository openSUSE-11.1-Updates.

I am new to openSuse and testing. Also have a 11.0 x86_64 partition. Also, hope this isn't bad form but I posted this topic in the Alpha/Beta forum before deciding to post to this list. Please let me know if any other info/test are needed to resolve this. Installed 11.1 alpha 2 x86_64. It comes with 3 repositories enabled by default. Oss, Non-Oss, and updates. [opensuse-factory] Current Status 11.1 Factory / Gnome

Hi everybody, I just wanted to get a short 'feedback' from the list and gnome developers on the current status of Gnome in 11.1 Factory. Is it supposed to work (in this case I'll start filing bug reports) or are the issues I see (like not being able to move an icon on the desktop for example, or opening any nautilus folder without it crashing) 'normal' for the moment? I don't want to spam bugzilla full of stuff that is that obvious, except if it's a corner case for me only. [opensuse-factory] Konqueror in KDE 4

This question obviously does not belong here, but please advise me to correct list/group with the following problem: It seems that the ability to split the file manager windows in Konqueror has changed in KDE 4. All the way in all versions of openSUSE/KDE 3.5.9 the windows can be split horizontally _and_ vertically the way you want it. Now in KDE4 it seems that you can only split a window horizontally _or_ vertically. I have always split the window first in two, horizontally. Then both halves vertically and I've had four windows. I'm running KDE 3.5.9 but I'm afraid of missing this feature by the time the support for 3.5.9 ends. Where should I turn to? [opensuse-factory] Has Hannes slipstreamed a Factory >15 partition fix?

I just booted Factory on the machine the subject of https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=397816 for an unrelated purpose, did a df . on some partition, and found mounts are all /dev/dm-*. This is a puzzle, as when last previous to today I commented in that bug, everything was as I there described. Anyway, check it out. Note NAICT, to translate the dm- number to the fdisk partition number, first subtract 2, then divide by 2. -- "Love is not easily angered. [opensuse-factory] DBus/PolicyKit support in Yast in openSUSE-11.1-Alpha1

Hi all! I'd like to inform you about a new feature in Yast in openSUSE-11.1-Alpha1. The feature allows you to configure role based access to yast. The current implementation is limited only to some yast functionality (the SCR part), e.g. it doesn't allow to install packages by a non-root user. WARNING: the DBus support is still in development state, it may be buggy or whatever else... I ask the brave people here to give it a try. See http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/DBus_Integration for more details. There is an example how to enable "time zone change" task for a non-root user. If you find any problem with the DBus integration report it to bugzilla.novell.com and assign the bug to me. Hello, I did not know, why the yast2-ldap-server modification stayed on the top of ChangeLog so long. [opensuse-factory] Recovering from accidentally removing /var/lib/rpm/Packages

Tried "rpm --rebuilddb, "rpm --initdb". There was a directory named /var/lib/rpmrebuilddb.8774 which I also tried renaming to /var/lib/rpm. Not all installed packages appear, also file to package association is missing for some packages, e.g:- tindog:/var/lib # rpm -q pidgin package pidgin is not installed tindog:/var/lib # which pidgin /usr/bin/pidgin tindog:/var/lib # rpm -qf /usr/bin/pidgin file /usr/bin/pidgin is not owned by any package # pidgin -h Pidgin 2.4.3 Last factory update 30th. July, currently "zypper dup" doing just under 1 Gig of updates. Any ideas? Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
