[opensuse-wiki] Wiki update - second call for testing

Hello, [cross-post - please reply only on one of the mailinglists] A month after the first call for testing the updated wiki, here is another one ;-) Compared to the "old" test wiki [1], there were a few changes: - the test wiki is now running on the final VMs that will also be used for the production wiki - login is now done with the Auth_remoteuser extension (which means we can continue to use the "nice" login form) - the test wiki is now based on a (nearly) up-to-date snapshot of the english wiki - several changes "under the hood", including automated setup of the VMs and the wikis with salt, some extension updates, config tuning etc. - oh, and the wiki VMs are already running openSUSE Leap 42.3 :-) That all said - the test wiki is waiting for you at https://en-test.opensuse.org/ Please check if everything still works, play with it, test the new features, ...! It is a test instance, so nobody will complain if you do test edits that don't make sense content-wise At the same time, remember that it is a test instance, so any changes you do will be lost when I re-import the database dump for whatever reason. If you notice any issues, please report them - either in one of the mailinglists (opensuse-wiki preferred) or send a mail to admin(a)opensuse.org If nothing terrible happens, I plan to update en.opensuse.org next week. If you enjoyed testing the new wiki, please also take some time to go to our current wiki (en.opensuse.org or $LANG.opensuse.org) - there are lots of pages that need an update ;-) And finally - thanks to everybody who helped me to get everything in shape! The accidential IP block is a side effect of automatically blocking spammers (which only happens sometimes because 4 of 5 auth proxies are on a whitelist). It's a known issue, but happens rarely enough so that a manual unblock once a month is easier and faster than getting a config update deployed ;-) I removed the IP block some minutes ago - you should be able to edit the wiki again ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz -- Admin? Hello, I wanted to add Interwiki to Portal:Project/Sub-projects and ended with following message about block. "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: Your IP address has been automatically blocked because it was used by another user, who was blocked by Abuse filter. The reason given is: Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Jasminn". The reason given for Jasminn's block is "Automatically blocked by abuse filter. Description of matched rule: phone support spam" Start of block: 08:20, 26 June 2017 Expiry of block: 08:20, 27 June 2017 Intended blockee: 137.65.226.4 You may contact Abuse filter or one of the other administrators to discuss the block. Note that you may not use the "email this user" feature unless you have a valid email address registered in your user preferences and you have not been blocked from using it. Your current IP address is 137.65.226.4, and the block ID is #668. Please include all above details in any queries you make." The problem is that my current IP isn't 137.65.226.4. [opensuse-wiki] Wiki update - call for testing

Hello, [cross-post - please reply only on one of the mailinglists] Those who visited the Heroes talk at the openSUSE Conference already know - there is visible progress on the wiki update and I have a *test* wiki running :-) So, what's new? The highlights are: - updated MediaWiki to 1.27.x (LTS release) and all extensions - now running on a VM in Nuremberg - including files directly from github - better search (elasticsearch) - now searching all namespaces, but with different weight - login is now done using openID - but still with your openSUSE login - namespace-specific boilerplates (page templates) when creating new pages - switched extension for RSS feed integration - this will need adjustments on the pages that include RSS feeds - watching a category (when pages get added to or removed from it) is now part of MediaWiki core - Hermes notification was dropped (was broken anyway, and MediaWiki's own notifications work much better) There's also something that isn't too new - the database dump I used to setup the test wiki ;-) It's from last August, so please don't worry about the outdated content ;-) That all said - the test wiki is available for testing at https://en-test.opensuse.org/ Please check if everything still works, play with it, test the new features, ...! It is a test instance, so nobody will complain if you do test edits that don't make sense content-wise ;-) At the same time, remember that it is a test instance, so any changes you do will be lost when I re-import the database dump for whatever reason. Hello dear team, As I'm new on this list (any list in fact), small introduction would be appropriate, I think. My name is Patryk Zera and I'm mostly active on polish openSUSE IRC channel where I go by nick Sanchez. I'm also trying to serve and be helpful to polish openSUSE community in general. On opensuse.org service my nickname is Meksykaniec as Sanchez was reserved. Yesteday I was browsing wiki and saw that content on polish version of some pages is rather outdated or lacking. I wanted to add maintenace templates to those sites until I or other editors find more time to edit them but no templates are defined for this purpose. Moreover when I wanted to edit some pages they were blocked for non-administrator users. Listed administrators for pl.opensuse.org are not registered users (I guess they were carried over from previous version of wiki), don't have contact info, their mailboxes don't exist anymore or are not involved in wiki efforts anymore. Can you help me resolve this situation? I do not understand decisions such as documented in https://en.opensuse.org/Icecream, "The documentation used to live in this page, but moved into a markdown README hosted under https://github.com/icecc/icecream. To report an issue or fix a problem, use github.
