Hi,
FYI:
in the process of updating the openSUSE documentation for 11.3, I
reviewed all links pointing from our books to en.o.o . During that
process I found some valuable articles on en.o.o which haven't been
migrated or even reviewed that.
Unfortunately I do not have the time to migrate them myself, therefore I
have listed them at http://wiki.opensuse.org/Help:Todo under "specific
pages" so they do not get lost.

Hi,
I have a question regarding the current plan and the status of the Wiki
migration.
If I remember correctly the plan was to switch to the new english (and
the german?) wiki before 11.3 comes out, is that still the plan?
When looking at the Todo-Page at [1] one still finds a lot of free spaces
in the list in the "Who"-Column. Is the list up to date? Or does that
matter at all?
It would be great if the Wiki Team could clearify on this a bit because
I think the new wiki is quite important for a nice 11.3 "Party" and it
would be good to know about the facts there.
Thanks,
Klaas

I did not work on that, but basic idea is to fetch numbers automatically, and
to automatically fill in Weekly news, by replacing $VARIABLE with actual
value.
I CC this to wiki list, so that people there can see and help.
What is the idea?
To have stats that are published in each Weekly news automatically updated.
For instance, use variables in wiki text and fill in values every week before
publishing.
==openFATE Team
===Statistics===
Total: $OPENFATE_TOTAL $OPENFATE_TOTAL_DIFF
Unconfirmed:$OPENFATE_UNCONFIRMED $OPENFATE_UNCONFIRMED_DIFF
New: $OPENFATE_NEW $OPENFATE_NEW_DIFF
Evaluation: $OPENFATE_EVALUATION $OPENFATE_EVALUATION_DIFF
Candidate: $OPENFATE_CANDIDATE $OPENFATE_CANDIDATE_DIFF
Done: $OPENFATE_DONE $OPENFATE_DONE_DIFF
Rejected: $OPENFATE_REJECTED $OPENFATE_REJECTED_DIFF
Duplicate: $OPENFATE_DUPLICATE $OPENFATE_DUPLICATE_DIFF
There are similar stats for bugzilla, forums and mail lists.
There is solution that script will load all stats in one article weekly and
then we can substitute it to the Weekly news article itself, just before
release. The other is to work on weekly news text directly.
Substitution is similar how templates work (transclusion), but it is permanent
change to the wiki text. The syntax is {{subst:Some_article}} .
So we need ideas how this can be solved the easiest possible way.

It is not ready for the wiki like ours.
* It is hard to browse the list of categories. It is not sorted in any way.
It seems as alphabetic with some tree elements.
* It is not possible to search list of categories. Browser search does not
work there.
* It removes already included categories from wiki source text forcing editor
to browse, or to open the page in another window to see what, in the hell, was
there before. There is no listing of categories in preview.
* Adds a lot of lines that one has to skip to get to the Preview button.
Simple operation to move "Category:Wiki conventions" from Category:Wiki to
"Category:Wiki help" is now:
1) Edit
2) Scroll, scroll, ........,scroll, cool down a finger, then again scroll
--- or Page Down up to 20 times
--- or move slider up and down until you find 1 checkmarked box
3) Uncheck Category:Wiki
4) Check Category:Wiki help
4) Don't do anything else except save otherwise behavior is not defined.
If that is enhancement then I don't know how to name hurdle.
I'm really losing motivation to do any editing with help like this.

Hello Mates,
for the Weekly News actually we're using for Links inside the actual Page:
* [[#Rajko Matovic: Wiki: change postponed| Wiki change postponed]] or
* [[#Announcements| Announcements]]
If i export this and import this to news.opensuse.org, and i click on the Link, a Webbrowser opens and route me to the
Wikisite.
How can i modify the Links that it works normally as "inside" Link in news.opensuse.org?

Hi, while talking to cboltz at Linuxtag last week he pointed out that we
are missing some extensions that we decided to use in the new wiki.
So here they are:
for debugging templates
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CrossNamespaceLinks
to see which pages link into another namespace
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SelectCategory
a gui to select the categories
These new extensions are running now on wiki.opensuse.org.
Greetings

Hello,
Some time ago I started to translate the wiki on macedonian, but I had
some private problems and had to cancel.
But now I have a lot of time and want to fully devote myself to the
translation.
My question is should start translating the en.opensuse.org or to start
on the new wiki.opensuse.org?
Best Regards,
Nedin.

Currently it is set to make switch on July, 12th.
It is probably better to do that earlier, to have time to fix links.
Or we can change plan and keep wiki.o.o as a new wiki. That will underscore:
* that is a new wiki with a new arrangement,
* there will be no problems with links - all that we have to do is to blank
and protect articles that are moved to wiki.o.o leaving only {{TransferNote|
}} there.
Keeping dual status for much longer where everyone adds articles on both
wikies linking all around the web both will create more problems with dead
links than we can afford.

Hello Mates,
i've seen, that we have in: http://dewiki.opensuse.org/Hauptseite an own Wiki Instance for the German Wiki.
Is that instance ready, so that we can plan to transfer our Content?
