Subject: bug report on wiki, about Chinese Characters
To: opensuse-wiki(a)opensuse.org
Related pages:
http://en.opensuse.org/CN-*
Those are pages containing Chinese Characters. It's actually some
preliminary work for setting up a Chinese wiki, And unfortunately the
bug makes that impossible so far.
I'll use the page below to explain what the bug is like.
http://en.opensuse.org/CN-Frequently_Asked_Questions
It's Chinese translation for the English FAQ page.
I finished the translation at 14:26, 12 February 2006, after a couple
of times' edit. The page history is here:
http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=CN-Frequently_Asked_Questions&action…
I was using the browser Opera, whose default encoding code is UTF-8,
editing and posting. It seemed perfect when I just finished. And I did
visit the page a week later, it was still fine(both in Opera/firefox).
However, someday in March I went back again and found it all messed
up. Some characters ( not all) can not ne recognized, and seems
replaced by "?" or "?".(in Opera/firefox/IE)
According to the page history, nobody has touched it.
The same issue happens to all Chinese pages on the wiki, such as.
http://en.opensuse.org/CN-Communicatehttp://en.opensuse.org/CN-SDB:SDB
..............
all full of "?"s.
I'm not quite sure if the problem is related to encoding or fonts. As
I saw similar messed-up Chinese pages on the wiki when I first came
here, I suppose it an existing bug. Maybe it's related to storing
chars? Quite STRANGE.
Any insights? I'm willing to do anything like debug if needed.
Best wishes.
Hi,
I finish it :). Now my work meet minimal requirement. What must I do
now to have vi.opensuse.org works? Or only wait?
All translated pages attached with this email.
Thinh.
I'm trying to add a page, but first I felt like playing in the sandbox a
little..
But no matter where or when I click on an "edit" link, I get presented
by downloading the index.php file...
Any ideas on when that may be fixed?

Since I've done this, a couple of weeks ago, I'm beginning to wonder how
long it will take until it will become live. Or, until someone will notice.
The wiki pages, do say that one should "advertise" the new translation on
this mailing list ... but hey, don't sound like anyones interested?
Okay Pflodo
I got your message, but for the life of me don't know how to answer you...
so I'll put this onthe maillinglist... At least I know how to handle that...
Yes, I agree, that the table was only to keep the text on the right...
The first table does everything just as you described....
The second time around it don't!
Any Ideas why?
It has the same structure (or should I say markup) as the first!

Hello there, my first post post here...
I was sent to this list from the OpenSUSE list...
I'm trying to write some documentation about
remote access to SUSE.
Unfortunately, I'm down with a real bad flu...
I've notcied that both jdd and PFLodo have made changes to it.
Thx.
To my question:
I've finished (for now) the intro, Now I need to right diferent "Chapters" on
how to setup different pieces of software I've been blabing about...
I would like to make the chapters seperate documents, each along the lines
"Tell then what your are going to tell, tel them, and then tell what you just
told then".
my problems are:
1) the documents look like shit.
2) I need to use tables to organize the options.
3) I'll want lots and lots of screen shots for the newbies...
And I don't know how to fix any of these...
Additionally, I find it hard working on the wiki documantation.
Any tips appreceated.
Jerry
P.S. How do I get something like this into wiki?
http://home.intergga.ch/Westrick/Using_SSH_tunnels_from_M$_Windows.pdf
Hi,
Here are Vietnamese translations (after the arrows) of some words:
Welcome_to_openSUSE.org -> Chào_mừng_đến_với_openSuSE.org
Communicate -> Giao thiệp
Download -> Tải xuống
Report a Bug -> Báo cáo lỗi
The attached tarball contains 5 translated pages, and this email also
attached (word.txt).
P.S. Please don't think that I'm working under user root. These files
are on my FAT32 filesystem :).
