[opensuse-wiki] 1st report on methodically checking pages on en.o.o

Hi, as discussed on #opensuse-wiki (Freenode), I have started to methodically checking all pages on en.opensuse.org by walking through http://en.opensuse.org/Special:Allpages. "Checking" means that every page (except redirects) that has been checked has either been * marked (as stub, outdated, to be merged, to be moved, ...) * deleted * or decalared OK (see my mail "RFC: Marking articles that have been "QA"'ed" to this list) The goal is to clean up the wiki and to find and mark all articles that are in need of polishing. Since I hope to find volunteers helping me with the task, I have also set up a page listing all pages checked togethter with their status: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team/Checked_Pages This list also contains articles I have not checked - either because they are written in a language I do not understand or because they deal with a topic on which I am not fit enough to decide whether the article is still up-to-date or not. Help with the task would be very much appreciated - either by checking the unchecked articles on http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team/Checked_Pages or by helping me going through the Allpages list. If you like to help, please join the IRC channel #opensuse-wiki on Freenode - it's probably easier to coordinate via IRC than via email. [opensuse-wiki] Translation pages that hang for a long time without maintainer

There is number of translations that have never met minimum conditions for own language wiki. No one can do that as Belarus wiki does not exist yet. It is not automatic process, like just create copy of english wiki with new language prefix and voila, we can translate. That would be probably the best way, or at least the easiest, for both translator and the openSUSE Wiki Team, but adding the server instance is a bit more complicated. It requires technical resources, that are not endless, some setup so that Internet users can find the server. So, if you would like to translate openSUSE either, follow instructions in the links I gave you for the wiki translations, or follow the idea with YaST. I have to repeat that creating server is much easier then to shut down one. Think of all links that people made to the pages on that server, that will quit working the day you shut it down. I got task to see what we can do about language wikis that have no enough maintainers, if any, for some time. http://vi.opensuse.org/ is absolute champion - unmaintained for a year. My proposal is to take it off line. For the rest listed below we can look for maintainers. http://is.opensuse.org/ last change was on 12. jan. 2009 http://tr.opensuse.org/ last change was on 2. april 2009 (user question) The 2 below are not very active, but nothing like previous: http://hu.opensuse.org/ need few more hands. Hi, in the wake of the Community Week there has been some activity on #opensuse- wiki (on Freenode) and people have volunteered to quality check existing articles (find duplicates, stubs, obsolete/outdates articles, suggest mergers,...). While objectionable articles will get marked by respective templates, there is no way to tell whether an article a reviewer considered to be OK has been checked or not. Therefore I would suggest to mark articles with http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Contentcheck.
