has link to
http://www.jipitel.info/
with online store link
http://www.jipitel.info/store.html
with PayPal link that doesn't allow me to see where it will go.
Isn't strange that so simple web page has such feature on link that
suppose to be PayPal.
I wish all the best to folk that click the link.

Hi,
before I go on a two week vacation, I would like to revitalize the front
page redesign discussion.
I have added two new proposals (with minor changes):
http://www.suse.de/~fs/opensuse/home.htmlhttp://www.suse.de/~fs/opensuse/splash.html
and - in cased the majority on this list agrees - would like to hand the
home page proposal over to Martin Lasarsch, so he van coordinate
translation.
As always, a few explanations:
* Home page:
Rajko proposed to shorten the right and left nav, by setting up
additional pages listing further links. Although I think this is a
good idea, I would propose to postpone this until the page is live,
because it would add more pages that need to be translated
* Splash screen:
It is my impression that the discussion never came to a conclusion
before it stopped. So I would propose to go live with what I suggested
above and to evaluate other users' feedback.
darix and I will also evaluate whether it is possible to add the
access statistics to each language link on the start page

Hey,
I am one of the organizers of http://foss.in , India's biggest
free and open source events. For the event site we would very
much like to re-use the media wiki skin being used on
http://opensuse.org.
Is the skin copyrighted to someone (Novell?) or owned by someone
in the community. We would be very grateful if we could "re"use
for our site.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello,
for own curiosity I made this little table showing how many times the most
popular page (likely the homepage) has been accessed. Of course it differs
how long the wikis are already online and some are not even announced yet:
cn: 7342 views - not publicly announced yet
cz: 38257 views
de: 532001 views
el: 50 views - not publicly announced yet
en: 6574879 views
es: 73332 views
fr: 58492 views
hu: 6469 views
it: 34814 views
ja: 43164 views
pt: 128 views - not publicly announced yet
ru: 6484 views
sv: 11719 views
tr: 9183 views
vi: 1167 views
It will be interesting to see how much the upcoming http://www.opensuse.org
splash will help to promote the language wikis.
Bye,
Steve

Hi,
from what was said on the "3rd stage: modifications" thread I conclude
that everyone is happy with the _layout_ of the new home page (the
splash screen is another matter ;-)):
http://www.suse.de/~fs/opensuse/home.html
So I would suggest to close discussions on the layout of _this_ page and
start focusing on the content.
Rajko has already made an alternative proposal with considerably less
text - please see:
http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/en/3/33/Frontpage-simple-005.png
His comments:
> 1- "the world's most usable Linux" is mentioned twice in one
> paragraph. No need to mention that it is in any language considered
> problematic.
> 2- "The program provides anyone with free and easy
> access to the world's most usable Linux distribution"
> then later
> "We work together to create and distribute the world's most usable
> Linux" We either have it, or we are creating it.
> Can't be both.
>
> 3-"There are many ways you can participate in the openSUSE project.
> First you should get a copy of SUSE Linux and install it on your
> machine." Visitor can see two paragraphs right below that tell the
> same, so this is redundant.
>
> 4-"Here at openSUSE.org, you'll find a community of developers, end
> users, and other open source enthusiasts who all have the same goal
> in mind" "Other open source enthusiasts" might be business owners,
> but opensuse.org is non commercial site, and it is hard to imagine
> that any will appear.
>
> Of course, race with the time is guilty for some overzealous cuts,
> like missing Communicate link in the left pane. The link "More..."
> will lead to "How to Participate" page.
