Hi,
possibly an FAQ, do we have any plans to improve the login sequence
when editing a page?
When you are not logged in and you request to edit a page, the wiki
detects you are not logged in and asks you to log in.
Then you have to click to 'log in', actually do the log in (possibly
type, for sure click), then click on 'return to page...' and then
click on the edit link again.
http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=sometitle&action=edit
It seems doable to reduce that to just one additional click:
http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php?title=GombleFrobbleNew&action=ed…
Can we possibly get the same in our wikis?

Dear all,
After I did upload the new picture in
http://cn.opensuse.org/Image:Kontact.jpg that is Kontact-todo.png
from the en.opensuse.org, then click the picture, it redirect to
http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/cn/d/dc/Kontact.jpg, and it prompt
'Object not found!'
So what's wrong with the server?

I think it would be a great idea to link to the installation videos
from software.o.o. Or, even better, just make it pop up a small window
that embeds both of the videos. Like this:

Any thoughts?

Hello everyone.
I wanted to propose a change for the openSUSE Wiki. I believe that
openSUSE has made great strides is improving the experience for users
downloading openSUSE, or trying to get help with it. However, there is
one place where openSUSE still has an issue: convincing people to use
openSUSE!
Maybe we're just modest :), but we don't seem to have enough information
about the distro on the wiki. There's plenty of information about the
project, but not the product.
What I would like to do is create a page(s) taking the user through a
tour of openSUSE, the desktop, the apps, and other information. I'd like
for this information to be linked off of the front page, but I'm getting
there...
I would be happy to start writing some parts of the tour of 10.3, if
that is what we decide to do.
Another thing I have an issue with is the fact that openSUSE never makes
a mention of the release of a new version of openSUSE on the front page
of the wiki. The day before 10.3's release, the front page was still
redirecting people to download or buy 10.2! What I'd like to see is a
graphic on the top of the page, saying something like "openSUSE 11:
Coming in 3 Days" etc... I've attached a file to give an example of what
I mean.
I would love to hear your ideas and comments! Thanks!
Hello,
My name is Jan Fredrik Stoveland, and I am a masters student at the
University of Oslo writing a thesis on firm-sponsored open source
communities. openSUSE is the main case for the study. I have been granted
permission to send you this email by Andreas Jaeger and Martin Lasarch,
and I hope you do not mind receiving it. I would like to ask all of the
members of the this mailinglist to participate in a brief, anonymous
electronic survey targeted at active contributors in the openSUSE
community. The research is funded by the University, and is independent of
any commercial interests. The link to the survey is here:
https://nettskjema.uio.no/answer.html?fid=38823&lang=en
I have selected these mailinglists as the main community indicator:
project, factory, buildservice, wiki and translation. It is of great
importance to get valid answers from as many of you as possible. The
questions in the survey concern your current engagement in the openSUSE
community, your reasons for participating in the community and your
affiliation with Novell. I expect the survey will take you 10 minutes to
complete, unless you find any questions difficult to answer.
What do you get in return for doing this? The results from the survey will
be posted to the list within a month, and the thesis with other
interesting findings about your community will be published around May
next year. Hopefully this will be of interest to you. But first of all I
hope you will contribute for the sake of research itself. Not too much
academic research has been done on communities that are facilitated by
partially-proprietary companies like Novell.
Furthermore, I would like to do an in depth interview on the phone with a
few of you to get more detailed answers. I will randomly select about 6
people to talk to. In addition I would appreciate to talk to any people
that have additional opinions. So if you have something more to say after
completing the survey, please send me an email!
Thank you very much for your help!

It is interesting to see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Version
There is much more information than on openSUSE wiki.
The question is:"How can one use this information, to make editors life
easier?"
BTW, new version runners should compare above and

Awesome to hear about the new sponsor! Though, why is the information
in German on the English page? :o
Kind thoughts,
