https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_graphics_cards It was terribly out of date. I noted the general inapplicability of Xorg "configuration", and did some cutting and updating, such as replacing instances of 11.3 with Leap and/or Tumbleweed, nv with amdgpu, and run level 3 with multi-user.target. Also bug references I changed from novell.com to opensuse.org. Most significant addition relates to significance of using nomodeset and the availability of Xorg's integrated modesetting driver. I didn't have any luck trying to match current release note and other doc references to the obsolete ones that need to be excised or updated. Much more is needed. I can't do the things related to proprietary NVidia drivers or to Grub2 menus, both of which I never use. I could do more, but I need a rest, and would be able to continue if the Grub2 and NVidia parts were reasonably current. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Hi PatrickD, This isn't the final design. We are working on some improvements. In next version, the page title, will be smaller, though still big enough as 56px. "Seamless upgrade" does not appear on: https://doc.opensuse.org/release-notes/x86_64/openSUSE/Leap/42.3/ or https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade or https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Offline_upgrade or https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_migrate_to_a_new_openSUSE_version Google is unable to locate for me anything on opensuse.org that defines "seamless upgrade". Does anyone here know where it is defined, or what it is supposed to mean? I don't understand why the 'Difference between revisions of "Firefox" ' title needs so much vertical space. It seems to take up about 20% of my browser's vertical display. That use of vertical space doesn't contribute to the process of reviewing the differences. Likewise the macro expansion uses horizontal lines surrounded by a lot of empty white vertical space that doesn't add to the review process. Just removing the lines would mean one could use half the vertical space to separate the text. Instead of two vertical spaces, one above the line and one below, one could use one vertical space between each line of text. [opensuse-wiki] All openSUSE wikis updated and moved home

Dear openSUSE Community, sometimes plans change while you are working on them ;-) The plan for yesterday evening was to move and update some of the localized wikis. Things worked better and faster than expected, and in the end we moved *all 18 localized wikis* from Provo to Nuremberg and updated them to MediaWiki 1.27 :-) This means *all* openSUSE wikis are now running on MediaWiki 1.27 and support the features announced for the english wiki last week [1]. I didn't have time to change the <feed> tags to the new <rss> tags in all wikis yet. I'll do that in the next days, but I won't complain if someone is faster and does it in some of the wikis ;-) (use the search to find pages containing "<feed", and check https://en.opensuse.org/Help:RSS_feeds for the <rss> syntax) For those who are interested in statistics: - moving 18 wikis in about 6 hours means about 20 minutes per wiki - can someone beat this? ;-) - during the move, we wrote about 500 lines on IRC to coordinate everything - this helped to keep the read-only time of each wiki short - I'd guess on average each wiki was read-only for 30 minutes (again, can someone beat this? ;-) - we moved about 10 GB of uploaded files and 1.6 GB of mysql dumps from Provo to Nuremberg yesterday (which was sometimes "funny" because the server in Provo limits the connection to 10 MBit) And now - have fun with the updated wikis and the upcoming openSUSE Leap 42.3! Dear all, Can anyone point me to the editable source of the Zypper cheat sheets at <https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Zypper_usage#Cheat_sheet>? I believe I've identified some errors in the cheat sheets and want to correct them, but I can't do that when all I have are the PDFs. I tried posting on the discussion page at <https://en.opensuse.org/File_talk:Zypper-cheat-sheet-1.pdf> but I doubt that it's being monitored by anyone. The users who contributed the PDFs, Digitaltomm (in CC) and Tomm-fa, don't seem to have been active for many years. Dear openSUSE Community, the MediaWiki instance hosted behind en.opensuse.org has been moved from the old Provo cluster to the new Nuremberg opensuse network. Together with the move, the wiki also got an update from MediaWiki 1.22 to 1.27, and the VM hosting it from an old SLE version to openSUSE Leap 42.3 (yes, we are eating our own dogfood!) ‎ New features are: - including files directly from github -> https://en.opensuse.org/Help:GitHub_inclusion - namespace-specific boilerplates (page templates) when creating new pages -> https://en.opensuse.org/Help:MultiBoilerplate - better search (elasticsearch) - now searching all namespaces, but with different weight - login is now done using the Auth_remoteuser extension - but still with your openSUSE login - support for several map providers - switched extension for RSS feed integration (this needs adjustments on the pages that include RSS feeds) -> https://en.opensuse.org/Help:RSS_feeds - watching a category (when pages get added to or removed from it) is now part of MediaWiki core - removal of Hermes notifications - MediaWiki's own notifications work much better If you encounter any issue, please let us know by mail to admin(a)opensuse.org. Hello everyone, I had a look at the English version of the openSUSE FAQ which is at: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:FAQ I noticed that the Link on the left column for German/Deutsch points to an invalid page which should be at http://de.opensuse.org/Frequently_Asked_Questions The page (German version) does exist though and it can be found at: https://de.opensuse.org/openSUSE:FAQ Can you fix this link on the English version please as I do not have sufficient rights for the English version.
