am I hacked ?

Hi, I got some problems (disk access denied, bus errors,...) that led me to go into single user mode and fsck my partitions. I noticed then that there were some directories created in the tmp directory, called "dev" and "etc", and one file in the / directory called "success" with 0 length. At reboot, these files disapeared. Does anybody know if this could be a sign of a hacked computer ? I mean could someone have installed a rootkit or some such ? I'm not paranoid but this indeed seems strange. Hi there, I'm sorry for sending you this query maybe you can help since I cant find any info elsewhere, Ive installed suse 10.0 on a b50 all is well there. The problem I have is that I've set up another b50 With fedora 5 but I have a garbled screen problem. I was wondering if I can copy xorg.conf from suse and apply it to fedora. Once again sorry ..

Hello, I just read at http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=15025 that SUSE is making a world wide beta test of SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop which made me wonder: how much trouble would it be to port it to PPC. The next version of OS X is rumored to be Intel only, so there will be millions of machines with an OS not developed any more. OpenSUSE support for PReP based IBM RS/6000 machine

Hi all, I am very interested in installing OpenSUSE on my IBM RS/6000 43p-140 (PReP based) machine, but I noticed from the following web page that version 10.1 doesn't have support for PReP: <QUOTE> "Note: 10.1 has no PReP support as it was temporary dropped from the kernel.org kernel." </QUOTE> http://en.opensuse.org/Supported_PowerPC_hardware I am wondering if PReP support has been added back to version 10.2 Alpha 1? glibc TLS (Thread-Local Storage) support is not available on SLES10-rc1 PPC

Hello, When compiling the glibc on ppc64 (Power5) (SLES9 or SLES10), TLS (Thread-Local Storage) support is not available. (See details below). Can you help understanding the problem ? iMac G3 350 video is offset

This seems like it would be a simple problem, but on my iMac the video is moved to the left 1 to 2 inches. On a normal computer this wouldnt be a problem I would just use the position settings and everything would be fixed. But on the Mac this is of course impossible because there is no knob to do this. So my question is, is there any way to make the video from my x server move over to the right about 2 inches? Thanks in Advance, Cameron

v10.2/Alpha 1 won't install on PM 6500

I tried to start the installation on my PowerMac 6500. It has a 250Mhz 603e, 128MB RAM, ATI rage II video. BootX starts and reboots the system, but it locks up on the initial kernel load screen. I have yet to try my Beige G3 or my 9600. I have the same problem with v10.1. v10.0 boots just fine.

I have the following system: B&W G3 w/ G4/400, 256MB RAM, ATI Rage 128 PCI vdeo. Text mode install fails using "textmode=1" as boot option. YaST starts but displays the following message: No workflow defined for this installation mode. Graphical installation also fails. tty4 reports the following: linux kernel: Kernel logging (proc) stopped. linux kernel: Kernel log daemon terminating. linux exiting on signal 15 tty3 shows: starting setctsid `showconsole` inst_setup yast install program exit code is 0 sync... ok killing klogd (1125) killing syslogd.bin (1120) killing bash (1059) killing bash (1056) killing bash (1053) /downlad/image0 removed DIsk 1 was burned on my Dell Inspiron 2500 w/ K3b using openSuSE v10.0 at 16x. Installation starts ok using a 32x Apple CD-ROM. Very sluggish and had read errors using a 24x Apple CD-ROM.
