Remove conditional support for SMB2 and SMB3:
- They were already enabled and are now always enabled.
- There are no more #ifdef checking these macros.
- They dont show up in fs/cifs/Kconfig
- They have been removed upstream
- It makes backporting easier, otherwise backported patches need to
modified to add #ifdef
Keep them as =y in vanilla config (which still requires it)

Indeed, you are right of course.
I noticed that myself after writing my mail...
The last stable upstream release (1.3.1 from 2016) still uses Qt4 though,
hence the confusion.
Kind Regards,
Wolfgang

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the weeks 2019/12 & 13
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 29 Mar '19
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 29 Mar '19

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
I'm again spanning two weeks worth of updates sent your way. If you
follow all upgrades, you have received a total of 8 snapshots since the
last review. Those were snapshots 0315, 0318, 0320, 0321, 0322, 0324,
0325 and 0327. The most noteworthy changes were:
* KDE Plasma 5.15.3
* KDE Frameworks 5.56.0
* Linux kernel 5.0.2 & 5.0.3
* Bash packaging change: /bin/sh is now update-alternative handled.
So far, no other package in openSUSE provides alternatives
* Mesa 19.0.0
* Tracker 2.2.1 (there are data migration issues known when coming
directly from Tracker 1.4 - this would affect users switching from Leap
42.x to Tumbleweed. Simply resetting the tracker database would be
enough)
* Qt 5.12.2
* NetworkManager 1.16.0
* SELinux 2.9
* Mozilla Firefox 66.0
And despite all those updates, our stagings are not free - and we're
having those updates in the pipeline:
* Mesa 19.0.1
* Rust 1.33 (Thunderbird fails to build)
* CMake 3.14.0: libzypp/zypper ail to build
* wireshark 3.0: libvirt fails to build
* Qt 5.13 beta is staged (not meant to be shipped)
* openSSL 1.1.1 – The blocker is, unchanged, nodejs (despite the move
to nodejs10)
Cheers,
Dominiqu

* A newline character is no longer automatically added at end of buffer.
* The line below the title bar is by default part of the editing space.
* Option --breaklonglines (-b) turns automatic hard-wrapping back on.
* Option --jumpyscrolling (-j) gives the chunky, half-screen scrolling.
* Option --finalnewline (-f) brings back the automatic newline at EOF.
* Option --emptyline (-e) leaves the line below the title bar unused.
* <Alt+Up> and <Alt+Down> now do a linewise scroll instead of a findnext.
* Any number of justifications can be undone (like all other operations).
* When marked text is justified, it becomes a single, separate paragraph.
* Option --guidestripe=<number> draws a vertical bar at the given column.
* Option --fill=<number> no longer turns on automatic hard-wrapping.
* When a line continues offscreen, it now ends with a highlighted ">".
* The halfs of a split two-column character are shown as "[" and "]".
* A line now scrolls horizontally one column earlier.
* The bindable functions 'cutwordleft' and 'cutwordright' were renamed to 'chopwordleft' and 'chopwordright' as they don't use the cutbuffer.
* The paragraph-jumping functions were moved from Search to Go-to-Line.
* Option --rebinddelete is able to compensate for more misbindings.
* Options --morespace and --smooth are obsolete and thus ignored.
* The --disable-wrapping-as-root configure option was removed.

==== tar ====
Version update (1.30 -> 1.31)
Subpackages: tar-lang tar-rmt
- Remove libattr-devel from buildrequires, tar no longer uses
it but finds xattr functions in libc.
- update to version 1.31
* Fix heap-buffer-overrun with --one-top-level, bug introduced
with the addition of that option in 1.28
* Support for zstd compression
* New option '--zstd' instructs tar to use zstd as compression
program. When listing, extractng and comparing, zstd compressed
archives are recognized automatically. When '-a' option is in
effect, zstd compression is selected if the destination archive
name ends in '.zst' or '.tzst'.
* The -K option interacts properly with member names given in the
command line. Names of members to extract can be specified along
with the "-K NAME" option. In this case, tar will extract NAME
and those of named members that appear in the archive after it,
which is consistent with the semantics of the option. Previous
versions of tar extracted NAME, those of named members that
appeared before it, and everything after it.
* Fix CVE-2018-20482 - When creating archives with the --sparse
option, previous versions of tar would loop endlessly if a
sparse file had been truncated while being archived.
- remove the following patches (upstreamed)
* tar-1.30-tests-difflink.patch
* tar-1.30-tests_dirrem_race.patch
- refresh add_readme-tests.patch
- add tar-1.31-tests_dirrem.patch to fix expected output in dirrem
tests

certificate's subject matches the given hostname.
The function is used by the recent version of libvncclient which
will fail to verify the certification if there is a mismatching
between the connected hostname and the cert issuer's common name.
https://github.com/LibVNC/libvncserver/commit/cc69ee9
So the previous way to generate the vnc server's cert brings a
complicated CN, making the client using libvncclient
(e.g. vinagre, remmina) hard to adapt the hostname check. It is
better to populate the hostname as the common name without extra
strings.
- Change Requires(post): firewall-macros to BuildRequires: the
macros are expanded at build time and not needed at all at
runtime.

texlive. xmlto is also useful without the texlice stack. So
instead of recommending (and this installing by default)
textlive, we switch to suggesting it.

==== ypbind ====
- ypbind needs yp.conf to be present. So wait for network to be
online in case it's created by DHCP (boo#1129587)
- Drop use of $FIRST_ARG in .spec
The use of $FIRST_ARG was probably required because of the
%service_* rpm macros were playing tricks with the shell positional
parameters. This is bad practice and error prones so let's assume
that no macros should do that anymore and hence it's safe to assume
that positional parameters remains unchanged after any rpm macro
call.

Hi all,
I need a little help to putting some content on the wiki page for
openSUSE Leap 15.1. I have started an outline template for Leap 15.1.
I'll have more time to work on it after SUSECON and the openSUSE Summit
in Nashville, but will still need some help generating content for it on
https://en.opensuse.org/Features_15.1
The screenshots page has also been created at
https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:15.1/Screenshots The current images on it
are of Leap 15. Please feel free to add screenshots of 15.1. Just upload
the new image and update the text and links to the image.
The portal is created and the navigation bar will be updated closer to
the release.

==== ModemManager ====
Subpackages: ModemManager-bash-completion ModemManager-lang libmm-glib0
- Reduce %systemd_requires to %systemd_ordering:
%service_* can handle its absence.
- Rewrite summaries not to rely on em dash grammar.
- Do build without requiring bash-completion.
==== NetworkManager ====
Version update (1.14.6 -> 1.16.0)
Subpackages: NetworkManager-lang libnm0 typelib-1_0-NM-1_0
- Update to version 1.16.0:
+ Check connectivity per address family.
+ Support "main.systemd-resolved" to let NetworkManager configure
DNS settings in systemd-resolved without making it the main DNS
plugin of NetworkManager.
+ Write "/var/run/NetworkManager/no-stub-resolv.conf" with
original nameservers. That is useful with caching DNS plugins
like "systemd-resolved" or "dnsmasq" where
"/var/run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf" refers to localhost.
+ Change default "ipv4.dhcp-client-id" setting for the internal
DHCP plugin from "duid" to "mac". This is a change in behavior
on upgrade when using the internal DHCP plugin (unless the
default is overwritten in "NetworkManager.conf" or specified
per connection profile).
+ Improve handling of DHCP router options with internal DHCP
plugin. For one, accept multiple routers and add a
default-route to each. On D-Bus expose the original DNS and
NTP servers without cleaning up local nameservers.
+ Allow binding a connections lifetime to the DBus client that
activated it.
+ Add support for establishing Wi-Fi Direct connections (Wi-Fi
P2P).
+ Add support for WireGuard VPN tunnels to NetworkManager. D-Bus
API and libnm support all options. nmcli supports creating and
managing WireGuard profiles, with the exception of configuring
and showing peers.
+ Add initrd generator to be used by dracut and use it as new way
of handling iBFT.
+ Deprecated "plugins.monitor-connection-files" setting in
NetworkManager.conf. This option will have no effect in future
versions.
+ Add AP and Ad-hoc support for iwd Wi-Fi backend.
+ Warn about invalid settings in "NetworkManager.conf".
+ Support announcing "ANDROID_METERED" DHCP option for shared
mode.
+ Support SAE authentication as used for 802.11s Meshing and
WPA3-Personal.
+ NetworkManager is no longer installed as D-Bus activatable
service.
+ Mark docker bridges as unmanaged via udev rule.
+ Add new PolicyKit permission
"org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.wifi.scan" for controlling
Wi-Fi scanning.
- Rebase systemd-network-config.patch and
nm-dont-overwrite-resolv-conf.patch.
- Drop NetworkManager-1.12.2-docker-unmanaged.patch and
NM-add-wifi-scan-polkit-rule.patch: Fixed upstream.
- Do away with em dashes in summaries.
- Combine %service_* calls to reduce generated boilerplate.
==== PackageKit ====
Subpackages: PackageKit-backend-zypp PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin PackageKit-gtk3-module PackageKit-lang libpackagekit-glib2-18 typelib-1_0-PackageKitGlib-1_0
- Limit fdupes to the btrfs subvolume.
- Combine %service_* calls to reduce generated boilerplate.
- Redo summaries without em dashes.
- Reduce %systemd_requires to %systemd_ordering; %service_*
can deal with the absence of it.
==== accountsservice ====
Subpackages: accountsservice-lang libaccountsservice0 typelib-1_0-AccountsService-1_0
- Redo summaries without em dashes.
- Reduce %systemd_requires to %systemd_ordering:
%service_* can handle the absence.
==== arabic-fonts ====
Subpackages: arabic-ae-fonts arabic-bitmap-fonts arabic-kacst-fonts arabic-kacstone-fonts arabic-naqsh-fonts
- Modernize $RPM_* shell vars and shell logic to generate BDFs.
==== avahi ====
Subpackages: avahi-lang libavahi-client3 libavahi-client3-32bit libavahi-common3 libavahi-common3-32bit libavahi-core7 libdns_sd
- Remove %if..%endif guards that do not affect the build result.
- Write "D-BUS" per its own name, "D-Bus".
- Replace FIXME PreReq with proper requires as needed.
- Update boilerplate summaries, and remove em dash grammar.
==== chrony ====
- Fix ordering and dependencies of chronyd.service, so that it is
started after name resolution is up (bsc#1129914).
- Add chrony-service-ordering.patch
- Fix location of helper script in chrony-dnssrv@.service
(bsc#1128846).
==== device-mapper ====
Subpackages: libdevmapper-event1_03 libdevmapper1_03 libdevmapper1_03-32bit
- Use %make_build in order to provide verbose output.
==== geronimo-specs ====
Subpackages: geronimo-jms-1_1-api geronimo-specs-pom
- Let each package obsolete and conflict with the
%%{name}-poms < %%{version}-%%{release} in order to make upgrades
smooth
==== glib2 ====
Version update (2.58.3 -> 2.60.0)
Subpackages: glib2-lang glib2-tools libgio-2_0-0 libgio-2_0-0-32bit libglib-2_0-0 libglib-2_0-0-32bit libgmodule-2_0-0 libgmodule-2_0-0-32bit libgobject-2_0-0 libgobject-2_0-0-32bit libgthread-2_0-0 libgthread-2_0-0-32bit
- Add patch submitted upstream to handle an UNKNOWN NM connectivity
the same as a NONE value. This partly fixes boo#1103678
(packagekit reports the network as available on a computer
without network connectivity which makes plasma-pk-update start
an update check which obviously fails).
* 0001-Handle-an-UNKNOWN-NetworkManager-connectivity-as-NONE.patch
- Update to version 2.60.0:
+ Further fixes to the Happy Eyeballs (RFC 8305) implementation.
+ Add support for the XDG trash portal.

Today I found that openSUSE Leap 15 / Tumbleweed YaST Date and Time
module writes times zones configuration into /root/.config/ktimezonedrc
E.g.
[TimeZones]
LocalZone=Europe/Vilnius
ZoneinfoDir=/usr/share/zoneinfo
Zonetab=/usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab
I suggest that writing such configurations into /etc/sysconfig/
directory would be more expected place.

Hi there,
I'm pretty sure this is the wrong forum, but, considering the appearance
"this is all about development", I doubt it's normal/OK what has
happened to <http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.0/oss/>...
Take a look at the suggested source packages of all package updates
submitted so far:
<http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.0/oss/src/>
There are NONE?!?!
What the hell has been going on here? Luckily this does not appear to
affect other distributions, but still...
Any ideas?
TIA, cheers.
