Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
I'm again spanning two weeks worth of updates sent your way. If you
follow all upgrades, you have received a total of 8 snapshots since the
last review. Those were snapshots 0315, 0318, 0320, 0321, 0322, 0324,
0325 and 0327. The most noteworthy changes were:
* KDE Plasma 5.15.3
* KDE Frameworks 5.56.0
* Linux kernel 5.0.2 & 5.0.3
* Bash packaging change: /bin/sh is now update-alternative handled.
So far, no other package in openSUSE provides alternatives
* Mesa 19.0.0
* Tracker 2.2.1 (there are data migration issues known when coming
directly from Tracker 1.4 - this would affect users switching from Leap
42.x to Tumbleweed. Simply resetting the tracker database would be
enough)
* Qt 5.12.2
* NetworkManager 1.16.0
* SELinux 2.9
* Mozilla Firefox 66.0
And despite all those updates, our stagings are not free - and we're
having those updates in the pipeline:
* Mesa 19.0.1
* Rust 1.33 (Thunderbird fails to build)
* CMake 3.14.0: libzypp/zypper ail to build
* wireshark 3.0: libvirt fails to build
* Qt 5.13 beta is staged (not meant to be shipped)
* openSSL 1.1.1 – The blocker is, unchanged, nodejs (despite the move
to nodejs10)
Cheers,
Dominiqu

- Update to version 1.1.3
* This release provides a fix for CVE-2017-2625 for platforms which don't have
arc4random_buf() in their default libraries but do have getentropy(), such
as Linux platforms with a kernel version of 3.17 or newer and a glibc version
of 2.25 or newer. (libXdmcp 1.1.2 already ensured that arc4random_buf()
is used on platforms that have it to provide sufficient entropy in XDMCP
key generation, but left other platforms with the weaker methods. Linux
platforms could also have linked against libbsd to use arc4random_buf()
with libXdmcp 1.1.2 for stronger keys.)

U_Use-getentropy-if-arc4random_buf-is-not-available.patch

==== rubygem-unicorn ====
Version update (5.4.1 -> 5.5.0)
- updated to version 5.5.0
see installed NEWS
=== unicorn 5.5.0.pre1 / 2018-12-20 20:11 UTC
Jeremy Evans contributed the "default_middleware" configuration option:
https://bogomips.org/unicorn-public/20180913192055.GD48926@jeremyevans.loca…
Jeremy also contributed the ability to use separate groups for the process
and log files:
https://bogomips.org/unicorn-public/20180913192449.GE48926@jeremyevans.loca…
There's also a couple of uninteresting minor optimizations and
documentation additions.
Eric Wong (10):
remove random seed reset atfork
use IO#wait instead of kgio_wait_readable
Merge branch '5.4-stable'
shrink pipes under Linux
socket_helper: add hint for FreeBSD users for accf_http(9)
tests: ensure -N/--no-default-middleware not supported in config.ru
doc: update more URLs to use HTTPS and avoid redirects
deduplicate strings VM-wide in Ruby 2.5+
doc/ISSUES: add links to git clone-able mail archives of our dependencies
README: minor updates and additional disclaimer
Jeremy Evans (2):
Make Worker#user support different process primary group and log file group
Support default_middleware configuration option
=== unicorn 5.4.1 / 2018-07-23 17:13 UTC
This release quiets some warnings for Ruby 2.6 preview releases
and enables tests to pass under Ruby 1.9.3. Otherwise, nothing
interesting for Ruby 2.0..2.5 users. *YAWN*
Eric Wong (1):
quiet some mismatched indentation warnings
Fumiaki MATSUSHIMA (1):
Use IO#wait instead to fix test for Ruby 1.9
==== rubygem-validate_url ====
Version update (1.0.2 -> 1.0.6)
- updated to version 1.0.6
no changelog found
- updated to version 1.0.4
no changelog found
==== sensors ====
Subpackages: libsensors4
- Join %service_* lines to generate less scriptlet boilerplate.
==== spacenavd ====
- Add two upstream patches for proper handling of device ids:
* spacenavd-add-blacklist-and-device-ids.patch
* spacenavd-add-missing-usbid.patch
==== spice-gtk ====
Subpackages: libspice-client-glib-2_0-8 libspice-client-glib-helper libspice-client-gtk-3_0-5
- Drop pkgconfig(usbutils) BuildRequires: usbutils 010 dropped the
.pc file.
- Pass --with-usb-ids-path=/usr/share/hwdata/usb.ids to configure:
pass the correct path to the usb.ids file (shipped by hwdata).
==== tar ====
Version update (1.30 -> 1.31)
Subpackages: tar-lang tar-rmt
- Remove libattr-devel from buildrequires, tar no longer uses
it but finds xattr functions in libc.
- update to version 1.31
* Fix heap-buffer-overrun with --one-top-level, bug introduced
with the addition of that option in 1.28
* Support for zstd compression
* New option '--zstd' instructs tar to use zstd as compression
program. When listing, extractng and comparing, zstd compressed
archives are recognized automatically. When '-a' option is in
effect, zstd compression is selected if the destination archive
name ends in '.zst' or '.tzst'.
* The -K option interacts properly with member names given in the
command line. Names of members to extract can be specified along
with the "-K NAME" option. In this case, tar will extract NAME
and those of named members that appear in the archive after it,
which is consistent with the semantics of the option. Previous
versions of tar extracted NAME, those of named members that
appeared before it, and everything after it.
* Fix CVE-2018-20482 - When creating archives with the --sparse
option, previous versions of tar would loop endlessly if a
sparse file had been truncated while being archived.
- remove the following patches (upstreamed)
* tar-1.30-tests-difflink.patch
* tar-1.30-tests_dirrem_race.patch
- refresh add_readme-tests.patch
- add tar-1.31-tests_dirrem.patch to fix expected output in dirrem
tests
- add tar-1.31-racy_compress_tests.patch to fix compression tests
==== tigervnc ====
Subpackages: libXvnc1 xorg-x11-Xvnc xorg-x11-Xvnc-module
- Update with-vnc-key.sh to use only hostname for CN.
The gnutls introduces gnutls_x509_crt_check_hostname2 in
gnutls/lib/x509/hostname-verify.c#L159 to check if the given
certificate's subject matches the given hostname.
The function is used by the recent version of libvncclient which
will fail to verify the certification if there is a mismatching
between the connected hostname and the cert issuer's common name.
https://github.com/LibVNC/libvncserver/commit/cc69ee9
So the previous way to generate the vnc server's cert brings a
complicated CN, making the client using libvncclient
(e.g. vinagre, remmina) hard to adapt the hostname check. It is
better to populate the hostname as the common name without extra
strings.
- Change Requires(post): firewall-macros to BuildRequires: the
macros are expanded at build time and not needed at all at
runtime.
==== transactional-update ====
Version update (2.14 -> 2.14.1)
Subpackages: transactional-update-zypp-config
- Update to version 2.14.1
- Improve non-root fs changes checker based on feedback
- Disable snapper's zypper plugin during transactional-update run
- Allow parallel installation with snapper's zypper plugin (useful on
read-write systems).

* Fix displaying empty tooltips. (bxo#15137)
* Translation updates: Dutch, Galician, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian.
==== xmlto ====
- Suggest instead of recommend texlive: most users are not
interested in texlive specific tooling- unless they install
texlive. xmlto is also useful without the texlice stack. So
instead of recommending (and this installing by default)
textlive, we switch to suggesting it.
==== xorg-x11-server ====
Subpackages: xorg-x11-server-extra xorg-x11-server-sdk xorg-x11-server-wayland
- Add systemd-rpm-macros BuildRequire for %tmpfiles_*.
==== xtrans ====

- n_unifdef-LBXPROXY_t-and-TEST_t.patch
* reverse apply in order to fix build of lbxproxy again ...
- Update to version 1.4.0

==== ypbind ====
- ypbind needs yp.conf to be present. So wait for network to be
online in case it's created by DHCP (boo#1129587)
- Drop use of $FIRST_ARG in .spec
The use of $FIRST_ARG was probably required because of the
%service_* rpm macros were playing tricks with the shell positional
parameters. This is bad practice and error prones so let's assume
that no macros should do that anymore and hence it's safe to assume
that positional parameters remains unchanged after any rpm macro
call.

Hi all,
I need a little help to putting some content on the wiki page for
openSUSE Leap 15.1. I have started an outline template for Leap 15.1.
I'll have more time to work on it after SUSECON and the openSUSE Summit
in Nashville, but will still need some help generating content for it on
https://en.opensuse.org/Features_15.1
The screenshots page has also been created at
https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:15.1/Screenshots The current images on it
are of Leap 15. Please feel free to add screenshots of 15.1. Just upload
the new image and update the text and links to the image.
The portal is created and the navigation bar will be updated closer to
the release.

==== ModemManager ====
Subpackages: ModemManager-bash-completion ModemManager-lang libmm-glib0
- Reduce %systemd_requires to %systemd_ordering:
%service_* can handle its absence.
- Rewrite summaries not to rely on em dash grammar.
- Do build without requiring bash-completion.
==== NetworkManager ====
Version update (1.14.6 -> 1.16.0)
Subpackages: NetworkManager-lang libnm0 typelib-1_0-NM-1_0
- Update to version 1.16.0:
+ Check connectivity per address family.
+ Support "main.systemd-resolved" to let NetworkManager configure
DNS settings in systemd-resolved without making it the main DNS
plugin of NetworkManager.
+ Write "/var/run/NetworkManager/no-stub-resolv.conf" with
original nameservers. That is useful with caching DNS plugins
like "systemd-resolved" or "dnsmasq" where
"/var/run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf" refers to localhost.
+ Change default "ipv4.dhcp-client-id" setting for the internal
DHCP plugin from "duid" to "mac". This is a change in behavior
on upgrade when using the internal DHCP plugin (unless the
default is overwritten in "NetworkManager.conf" or specified
per connection profile).
+ Improve handling of DHCP router options with internal DHCP

Today I found that openSUSE Leap 15 / Tumbleweed YaST Date and Time
module writes times zones configuration into /root/.config/ktimezonedrc
E.g.
[TimeZones]
LocalZone=Europe/Vilnius
ZoneinfoDir=/usr/share/zoneinfo
Zonetab=/usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab
I suggest that writing such configurations into /etc/sysconfig/
directory would be more expected place.

Hi there,
I'm pretty sure this is the wrong forum, but, considering the appearance
"this is all about development", I doubt it's normal/OK what has
happened to <http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.0/oss/>...
Take a look at the suggested source packages of all package updates
submitted so far:
<http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.0/oss/src/>
There are NONE?!?!
What the hell has been going on here? Luckily this does not appear to
affect other distributions, but still...
Any ideas?
TIA, cheers.

Hi,
since I'm quite happy with the state of the package, I kindly ask, how I
should proceed to submit the best free onedrive client for linux available
today to Factory:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:frispete:onedrive/onedrive
As a related issue, what does it take to have such a package listed in the
software search of https://software.opensuse.org?
Thanks in advance,
Pete
