[opensuse-factory] HEADS UP - 20160422 to come soon (if you agree)
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 02 May '16
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 02 May '16

Hi fellow geekos,
As I already announced in my last weekly review [0], the next snapshot
(0422) will be HUGE. With the update of glibc to version 2.23, we
bootstrapped the entire distro again to ensure everything is really
built up proper again - which results in new binaries all over the
place.
Besides this, openQA has detected that using the Live Images to install
a system does not work [1]: initrd is not being written and added to
the bootoader config. Neither DVD nor NET installer are facing this
problem, so I am still considering releasing this snapshot. We surely
hope that this will be only a short time where the LIVE Medias are not
installable.
If you think this is the wrong move and the 0422 snapshot should NOT be
released, then speak up! I have to give openQA a manual go anyway and
I'll hold this back until Thu, April 28 22:00 UTC - so i ask YOU, the
community, if this release is acceptable to you or not.
Cheers,
Dominique

Hello All,
I have a brand new HP Z240 workstation running Leap and it randomly
freezes, becomes fully unresponsive, both locally and over the
network, and I'm forced to power cycle the system. This has been
happening multiple time a day with no rime or reason, sometimes it's
sitting idle after a reboot, reading email, whatever. The most
frustrating part about it is there's never anything in the logs to
indicate a reason for this.
It's the default installation, BTRFS partitioning scheme, XFS for
/home, KDE5, nothing crazy at all.
I've installed and configured kdump with the hope it will be able to
provide some insight after the next occurrence, but given there are no
kernel crash messages in the logs it's hard to say whether it will
help. I guess time will tell.
Does anyone have any thoughts further debugging this type of an issue?

After updating to 20160422, I can no longer ssh from my 13.1 server to my
local Tw machines. I can ssh from the Tw machines into the server.

I have restarted ssh on both sides but no help.
googling expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY shows much but doesn't appear
to provide an intelligent solution. Changing MTU on either/both sides
does not help, permissions appear correct on /etc/ssh/*
I can ssh between Tw machines and between Tw machines into 13.1 server,
but not from 13.1 server to *any* Tw machines.
tks,

[ 75s] build97 failed "build nginx.spec" at Fri Apr 29 14:46:28 UTC 2016.
It seems there is no code in the tar to execute the test cases.
Is there a way I can integrate the test suite in OBS.

Wild guess, are older versions of ssh unable to handle the ECDH
handshake? Maybe Tumbleweed's ssh server is now configured to ignore
older, less secure handshakes?

[opensuse-factory] Support for Julia Language in i586 is being dropped in openSUSE, I need help to solve
by Ronan Arraes Jardim Chagas 29 Apr '16
by Ronan Arraes Jardim Chagas 29 Apr '16
29 Apr '16
Hi!
As of now, I'm dropping the support for Julia Language in openSUSE Tumbleweed
i586. After the upgrade to glibc 2.23, a issue in which the root cause has not
been determined yet is preventing julia to be built against i586.
I opened bugs in upstream:
* https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/16087
* https://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=27548
Now, I really could use help from the community to track the problem down. I
will describe what I am seeing:
* LLVM (3.3 or 3.7.1) is failing to build inside julia building process for
i586;
* If I chroot to the build directory, the command that segfaults during the
LLVM building process works without problems;
* LLVM 3.3 can be built as a standalone package;
* If I use the standalone LLVM 3.3 to build julia, I get strange errors that
may indicate that LLVM was not built properly;
* Neither Fedora nor ArchLinux had problems to build julia (i586) against
glibc 2.23.
Given all that, I really suspect that the problem is with openSUSE, but I just
can't even isolate to fill a bug.
Regards,
Ronan Arraes

Hi,
I have Secure Boot enabled in UEFI. Both, Leap and Tumbleweed boot fine.
I added Kernel of the Day and now Grub complains that it has the
invalid signature.
If I change Secure Boot settings from "Microsoft & 3rd party CA" to
"none" I can boot the kernel fine. However, that makes for an ugly
UEFI startup screen.
Kind regards,
Michael

==== ibus-table ====
- update to 1.8.11
* Fix typo in variable name self_onechar -> self._onechar
* Disable ?onechar? (Phrase mode/Single char mode) option for non-CJK
databases
* Disable auto_commit option for tables which do not have RULES
* Resolves: rhbz#1135759 - The rusle is broken with "Normal commit mode"
See: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1135759
* Pass IBus.KEY_KP_Enter to the application if the preedit is empty
* Resolves: rhbz#1133424 - With the new "rusle" table in ibus-table-cyrillic,
Keypad Enter problem
See: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1133424
* Ignore Shift+Space hotkey to switch fullwidth/halfwidth if the database
is not for CJK
* Move some options into a new tab ?Details?
* Disable properties related to fullwidth/halfwidth for non-CJK tables
* Remove ?Hide Candidates/Display Candidates? from the properties menu
* Show keyboard shortcuts also in the property menu entries
* Use the ?notify::text? signal instead of ?activate? on GtkEntry widget
* Update Chinese .po files
* Update German translation
* Move the ?Restore all defaults? button into the GtkButtonBox at bottom
* Apply fix for ? again to Unihan_Variants.txt, it is both simplified *and*
traditional Chinese
* And regenerate engine/chinese_variants.py.
* Escape % and _ if they are not intended as wildcards
* Require Python >= 3.3
- update version 1.8.5
* Always write xml output in UTF-8 encoding, not in the encoding
of the current locale
- changes since 1.8.4
* Tweak defaults for Chinese mode taken from the locale
* Fix prompts for array30 table and don?t use prompts in pinyin mode
* Make it possible to use select keys like F1, F2, F3 ...
* For cangjie* and quick* tables: Use big5 order if the freq from
the table is the same
- add ibus-table-python3.patch
* replace file() to open()
- Switch python to python3
- Updateto 1.8.3, ibus-table >= 1.8.x has many improvements over 1.5.x
* The database format is simplified which makes better matching
possible. But because of the changed database format, the
tables have to be rebuilt, i.e. packages like ibus-table-chinese
and ibus-table-others have to be rebuilt against ibus-table > 1.8.0.
* Wildcard support added, wildcards like ? for single characters or *
for many characters can be used. The wildcards can be configured
in the setup tool, for example one can also use 'z' as a single character
wildcard if desired.
* Setup tool improved, several new options added, works with Gnome3 now.
* Prompt characters are supported now, for example when using Cangjie,
?, ?, ?, ... are displayed while typing instead of a, b, c, ...
* Moving around in the predit works correctly now. One can commit
the current candidate to predit with the left shift key or with
the arrow keys, commit more characters to predit that way, then
move around in the predit and see the full key sequences of the
characters in the predit. This way one can check the
key sequences if one used wildcards or pinyin mode to enter the
characters.
* Fix many bugs
- Fix missing capital on devel package group.
- Add Requires: python-curses, ibus-engine-table need this module,

* use AUTO_WILDCARD=TRUE for all tables, this option started working in ibus-table > 1.8.0
* Don?t force ?us? layout for cns11643, compose, ipa-x-sampa, viqr, emoji, mathwriter-ibus, translit-ua, and translit
* Keep forcing ?us? layout only for ?rustrad?, ?yawerty?, and ?thai?. But ibus does not use the option ?KEYBOARD_LAYOUT?, the correct name of that option is just ?LAYOUT?. Fix that for all tables.
