[opensuse-factory] Do we really need libreoffice-kde4?

Hi all, I want to ask this question before the release openSUSE 13.2. Do we really need libreoffice-kde4? I think, for KDE, it is better to install libreoffice-gnome instead of libreoffice-kde4. How do you think? libreoffice-kde4 is a Qt implementation of LibreOffice UI framework. However, the following problems are known. 1. Look and feel: no shadow under menus Since oxygen-gtk provides good KDE integration for GTK applications, libreoffice-gnome looks better than libreoffice-kde. Moreover, last week, I received another broken UI layout bug in opensuse-ja ML. The font selection list box on the Style dialog moves over the next font size list box. 2. Poor input method support (XIM only) Thereby, the launch scripts of IBus contains: exports OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome to enforce libreoffice-gnome on KDE environment. To do that, the IBus package have a weird supplements tag: Supplements: packageand(libreoffice:libreoffice-gnome) On the other hand, libreoffice-gnome supports input method via GTK, Chinese and Japanese users can input texts smoothly. 3. The development of libreoffice-kde4 seems to be less active than libreoffice-gnome. Hello List Mates, With all of the great software available to design a beautiful gui... Why oh why did they choose the flat gui? A '90s design except for the Yast Partitioner? Ugh! [opensuse-factory] Cannot remove nepomuk in 4.14 when updating

Hi everybody, Why is it that when 4.13 was available running "zypper dup" nepomuk was removed so that baloo was its replacement. [opensuse-factory] kdesu problem when exiting several applications

Log in to Dolphin super user thru the Icon. After a long delay Dolphin comes up (Delay apparently caused by akonadi_baloo_Indexer. At least killing that process immediately allows Dolphin to start. This started after major update today to KDE 14.1.1 on openSuSE 13.2 (see Signature below for more info.) When finished and exiting Dolphin I get the following message: [CODE] Sorry - Plasma desktop Shell KDEInit could not launch '/usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/kdesu' [/CODE] Also occurs on other application that require root password. System Monitor Widget (KSYSGUARD) I still have libproxy1-config-kde4 and libproxy1-config-kde4-32bit set to Taboo so they don't update. Does this problem still exist in YaST and could it cause some of the issues I am seeing? Has anyone else seen this issue? Any Idea's what to look at? Thanks! [opensuse-factory] installation delay

I have encountered the problem on the following 3 ISOs KDE Live x86_64 20140904 DVD Media x86_64 20140909 KDE Live x86_64 20140915 In all cases the installation proceeds normally until it reaches grub installation. In the first case above of KDE Live I accidentally found out how to complete the installation - by hitting the abort button and waiting for about 10-15 minutes for the installer to respond and then choosing to continue. The install continues successfully. I have rebooted and updated to make sure all is well. In the case of the DVD Media snapshot I was unable to get a response from the abort button and powered off the machine. The latest KDE Live 20140915 also installs correctly after the same 10 - 15 minute wait My first experience with the Factory install DVD was in August and that had no extended delay during bootloader installation.Unfortunately I have deleted that ISO so I cannot say for sure what the snapshot release number was. There has been on change in my hardware since the August install. Bug 789604 from a 13.1 milestone has a similar title to the current difficulty but it seems to have been resolved. [opensuse-factory] yast problem on first boot

Hi, last weekend I tried to install 13.2 to my dual-boot notebook. Due to different issues I tried several images (milestone 0, factory, kde- and network-installer). Whenever an initial install succeeded the automatic configuration after first boot always gave an error: Yast tried to run the module inst_automatic_configuration and a red popup states that calling this module failed. I had a look at the y2log, which states "... modules/ProductConrol.rb:1400 Calling ´inst_automatic_configuraiton´ ($1["enable_back":false, "enable_next":false]) returned nil A search in the opensuse mailing list for an error with this module gives no result, so I'm wondering what could trigger this error. Hi all, I noticed that in http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/security:/chipcard/ there is a rather old (dec 2012) package: opensc-0.13.0-43.2.x86_64.rpm The official release of opensc-0.14.0 was last june, quite a while ago. see: https://github.com/OpenSC/OpenSC/wiki Any chance of bumping it up? Reason for asking, is that the MyEID from Aventra is better supported. Besides, i'll guess that everything under "security:" is more worthwhile keeping up-2-date, than other branches... Hi all: How many seconds does "time rpm -qa | wc" cost it in your OS? I put etckeeper-1.13 in openSUSE Factory's official repository. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?project=openSUSE%3AFactory&package=… And I added patch of https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/openSUSE:Factory/etckeeper/etc… https://github.com/joeyh/etckeeper/pull/17 . When ZYpp install or remove, etckeeper makes all package list as rpm -qa twice for getting changed packages list in ZYpp plugin. eg) before install: rpm -qa | sort >before_packagelist after install: rpm -qa | sort >after_packagelist diff -u before_packagelist after_packagelist >changed_packageslist But these "rpm -qa" are slowly. (sometimes over 30 sec.) Over 30 sec., ZYpp plugin gets timeout, so sometimes etckeeper's autocommits fail. So I wrote a patch of gh#joeyh/etckeeper#17. [opensuse-factory] Drop of the V8 package

Dear Factory group, I would like to propose to drop the V8 Javascript package from Factory. As far as I know there is no other package using V8 standalone. Chromium and NodeJS are both utilizing the in-source V8 package and has no dependencies on this. Please let me know if there is any objection against this or that you know of a package that is utilizing the standalone V8 package. [opensuse-factory] About efibootmgr on obs ( For Factory / openSUSE 13.2 )

For information, this is the mail that I've forwarded to efibootmgr maintainer. I suspect we have a "big" trouble in the way EFI is handled on factory actually. For the last two weeks, I'm trying to get my new apple macbook pro 11.4 to load openSUSE Factory and face one issue. If the install goes smoothly, once it reboot the nvram is totally destroyed whenever there's or not a partition vfat for EFI. The firmware load by telling there's no more bootable harddrive, you have to boot an efi usb key, and remake apple osx okay for reboot. I've dig the internet to find a why this happen all the time ( installation of 13.1 works on it ) then I found two things which seems important for openSUSE: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1114775 on this bug I've seen that fedora version was 0.7.x version when our stick very old. then I discover on koji.fedoraproject.org that the efibootmgr has a new development home located at https://github.com/vathpela/efibootmgr and there's just a new release https://github.com/vathpela/efibootmgr/releases/tag/efibootmgr-0.8.0 which seems to contain bugfixes for the issue I'm having. - Re-encorporate workaround for Apple machines What did you think about it ? Would you like to update the package we have on obs ? If you update it I will be able quite easily able to try it and see if it fixe the trouble. Without that, all people having a apple notebook will face the same trouble, and if they will be able to install fedora 22 openSUSE 13.2 will be not usable .... Can we try to get this fixed ? [opensuse-factory] Installation leaves two active partitions

I installed the 20140909 snapshot on my non-EFI system with a GPT disk. I kept my existing 13.1 root partition, and installed 13.2 on a spare partition. The installation was done from the Live KDE iso that had been placed on a USB drive with imagewriter. Installation appeared to progress normally until the system was rebooted. The BIOS reported that there were two active partitions. After rebooting the live system and loading gparted, it was clear that the installer had set the legacy-boot flag correctly for the new installation; however, it had not cleared that flag for the 13.1 partition. Recovery was easy once I understood what had gone wrong. This problem may not affect very many systems, as most GPT disks will use EFI; however, I had to turn it off in the past, as something got corrupted with GRUB2, and the system would only boot Windows 8.1. :( I have not yet taken the time to do a proper fix for that issue. [opensuse-factory] New Package - libhal1-flash (re-enabling Flash-Player DRM content on Linux)

Good afternoon! I've written and packaged a compatibility library for flash to enable playback of DRM content (this removes the dependency on the HAL package). I'd like to know what steps I can take to have the package considered for inclusion in openSUSE 12.3 and 13.1. Can I submit the package to devel:openSUSE:Factory, or is there another action I should be taking? RPMs, debs... are all available on the build service. Three noteworthy points: - package naming (libhal1-flash) doesn't 100% align with the Shared Library Policy (I've suffixed -flash to make clear this is not a fully functional HAL layer and also to avoid naming conflicts as some distros seem to have a shared library package already named libhal1). - The packages depends on dbus and udisks. It seems to work find when udisks is launched on demand (as for openSUSE 12.3) - The flash-player package could have some kind of RPM dependency on this package to assist the user when looking in YaST (Install / Remove Software) / Package Manager.
