Unfortunately we still do have a problem with kernel modesetting as confirmed by different members of the openSuse Core Test Team. As described in https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25052 there are problems with kernel 2.6.38-0.0.12 while kernel-2.6.38-rc2-0.0.7.4bf0e68 has worked better. Unfortunately I did not have time yet to bisect the issue. So please do ship with kernel-2.6.38-rc2-0.0.7.4bf0e68 (or sooner) for RC1! [opensuse-factory] pam_mount leaves stuff in /dev/mapper

Hello list, I am using a home partition that is encrypted with LUKS. A passphrase is used to authenticate and the volume is automaticaly mounted at login through pam_mount. After upgrading fom oS 11.3 to oS 11.4 RC1 this does not work correct anymore. The first login works, but when I logout and then try to login, pam_mount prints only some error logs and does not mount the volume again. The reason is that the partition is not unmounted from device mapper. The mountpoint (/dev/mapper/_dev_sda3 -> /home) is cleaned from mtab, but _dev_sda3 is still present in /dev/mapper. When I close the LUKS volume manually with cryptsetup luksClose _dev_sda3 /dev/mapper is clean and I can use pam_mount again... Till the next logout. Is this a new feature in pam_mount 2.8? Here's a short note as to the status of some recent activity in the openSUSE:Tumbleweed repo: - kernel packages finally got updated to the latest .37 release thanks to some preload package help. If there are any problems with this, please file bugs, as these will also affect the 11.4 release - LibreOffice has been added to the repo. Any update problems please let me know, it might be a bit wierd with the OpenOffice_org packages being removed, but it worked for me in my testing. - I'm adding all of the yast2 packages from openSUSE:11.3 and openSUSE:11.3:Update in anticipation of a libzypp update, so you will see these packages update with no change at the moment, until libzypp is checked in. This was tested to work properly in the openSUSE:Tumbleweed:Testing repo previously and should all be safe. - aaa_base was added to the repo to get the updates that have been done in there to make this package "more sane". Any questions/concerns about these, or other recent Tumbleweed changes, please let me know. Just read the RC1 announcement and it looks like my attempt to have the LV2 plugin system in 11.4 is foiled by redland language bindings. I have sr#59432 waiting for 10 days now with redland language bindings built with redland. I don't believe in putting packages in devel projects where they don't belong ie. multimedia:libs and it's too late for new packages anyway. If there is a problem at this stage then the comment at the top is true. Please have a look, I used great care to not touch the existing redland build so hopefully there isn't a problem. Hello, 1) I just picked the linuxrc name from an other thread, and I have seen it's said linurc can start an existing install. I try to make a rescue cd able to boot installed system with minimal work. Right now I failed to use kexec (but I see that kexec don't works in virtualbox, this makes tests much longers). the SDB page is a bit short for my understanding :-( http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Linuxrc when I start linurc from my usual openSUSE install, it detects that (running system) and start in manual mode (the net install cd). that make network setup hard. is linuxrc available on the present rescue system (I can't test it right now, I'm not at home)? Is it possible to use a install=hd:/(mounted root partition) with any openSUSE install, not the install system? is is possible to give the hd:<dvd image> option from the usual install cd? Hello, I just notice zypper have a "licences" option, that lists the licence of the installed packages. Do we have a similar list online for any openSUSE package (distribution)? for the OBS? This message occurs during last few updates, most recently less than an hour ago to kdm-4.6.0-6.1.i586. Startx starts KDE. Init 5 fails, putting "no user like 'kdm'" and 'Cannot execute "/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet" (greeter for display :0)' in /var/log messages. /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet -rwxr-xr-x exists. What's (not) going on? Tried updating factory today and got: Problem: MozillaFirefox-4.0b10-4.1.x86_64 requires libc.so.6()(64bit), but this requirement cannot be provided deleted providers: glibc-2.11.3-8.1.x86_64 Solution 1: keep obsolete glibc-2.11.3-8.1.x86_64 Solution 2: break MozillaFirefox by ignoring some of its dependencies Indeed glibc-2.11.3-10.1.x86_64.rpm is missing in the repo whereas all other parts of glibc are at 2.11.3-10.1. Hello, Installing several 11.4 and the last debian made me notice the following. It's too late to make a change to 11.4, but we should finb a solution for the next one, so keep this on a mailbox corner :-)) thanks openSUSE have probably the best partitionner ever (and I think I know, being the partition HOWTO author). However, at install time, if one try to install on a crowded disk (let only with windows), it's not easy to know what to do. I specially notice this making an "install openSUSE" video clip. Gentlemen, After I installed 11.4M 5 or 6 with a dutch keyboard I expierenced some difficulties; for instance a '-' appearce as a '/' and vice versa. Changing to english/UK did not change anything. I got this in LibreOffice, Dolphin and in Gwenview. Any solution? Hi! I am the maintainer for the package texmaker in Factory. Texmaker was recently upgraded by upstream to version 2.2.1 (Factory has version 2.1) which includes not so many new features but important bug-fixes [1] over the version in Factory (pretty much all the fixes listed in the changelog for version 2.2.1 affect 2.1 as well). I would like to push this new upstream version to Factory, is there time and permission for this to get included into 11.4 if I do it quickly? Texmaker is a single package, and as far as I know nothing depends on it, so it is essentially a standalone. Hello, Is there a progress indicator count on how many Factory projects built ok, failed to build, or are currently building in the current Factory build cycle This is just for example. The current factory build cycle shows, Factory projects built ok :15,000 Factory projects build failure : 20 Factory projects currently building: 80 Factory projects waiting to build : 900 Total factory projects :16,000 Perhaps have a link from the numbers to the projects in various categories, example - built ok, build failure, currently building or waiting to build. Break this down into platforms ie i586, x86_64 Wondering if it is done or could be done ? The latter is usually more fruitful, rpm can tell you to whom you'd like to talk to. This other thread I don't want to quote makes me ask if there is somewhere * a list of the licences openSUSE accepts for free (OSS) repository * a list of the licences accepted for the non free repository (non-OSS) * a list of the licence openSUSE refuses at all preferably motivated we, at the LDP, did something similar with the result here (http://wiki.tldp.org/LdpWikiDefaultLicence) - it's just an example, as openSUSE have to cope non only with texts but also with programms. We shouldn't have to refere to any non-openSUSE page for that matter.
