[opensuse-factory] firefox seems to pause (freeze) a lot in -RC2

All, I don't see this on the most annoying bugs list, so maybe I'm the only one with this experience. === I updated to RC2 a few days ago. I'm not positive that the freezes (pauses) I see now in firefox are new with RC2, but I did not have them with 11.4. What happens is I click on a link like the one below embedded in a msg from Jos. > the opensuse.org/Product_highlights page. Meanwhile we discuss on this Then firevox will open another tab, then not allow me to use any of my other firefox tabs until the page is fully loaded. For whatever reason it often is taking 10 or 20 seconds for that to happen. In that time, I frozen. I can go to other apps, etc. and do stuff. It is only firefox that is frozen. And it typically comes back to life after a bit. I find it very annoying. Enough so that more than once I've opened up a remote terminal window to another box so I could work with out the frustration. Is this behavior the new normal? Do I by chance have a networking or other bug that is interacting badly with firefox? Rogers right - Novell have been releasing open source drops of Vibe in parallel with their closed beta, there never seems to be more than 24 hours drift between the two. I managed to fix the issue. After updating a fresh install of RC2 KDE, the resolution was completely wrong giving me a 600x800 desktop at 16bit color. I changed the VGA value in GRUB to reflect my actual resolution and a 24 bit color depth. This corrects the resolution and color, but the performance is terrible even with compositing off or in XFCE. Not to mention that setting breaks the bootsplash (sad face). I don't really even know where to start on this bug since it is so odd. I think perhaps systemd got patched and is now passing the GRUB value through all of userland. Heya all, The GM is not ready yet so I'll wait a bit with sending out stuff to the press. That means there's still time to fix/add to the Product Highlights. [opensuse-factory] Critical problems with RC2 LiveUSB

I had done an earler test run on the LiveUSB without installing and had few problems or critiques even though it was slower than a slug on a salt flat at noon. Now I tried to install. First boot off live media works fine. Second boot hangs very early in the process. Says something about SWAP. After the first boot something must be getting damaged on the LiveUSB, and to get it to work again I have to 'dd' the image onto the drive again. This problem existed in 11.3 as well if I recall correctly. Partioning problems. "Device /dev/sda5 cannot be removed because it contains activated swap that is needed to run the installation." This error came up as I was trying to rearrange my HDD partitions for the install. I attempted 'swapoff -a' to no avail. This problem has not been encountered by me before. I have 2 gigs of Ram so I can't imagine why it needs swap anyhow. I wonder if this activated swap may be the reason for the sudden slow down in live media responsivity. Long standing partitioning problem with YaST: It cannot recover a thumbdrive used for an install media. It is unable to appropriately rewrite the partioning table. I always have to use my Macintosh to fix the thumbdrives... Win7 won't work either. How to replicate... dd .iso to drive; attempt to reformat; plug in and see the live media is still there.
