[opensuse-factory] Change hinting style from 'hintfull' to 'hintslight'

Hi List, Jon suggests to change hintstyle property to 'hintslight' in /etc/fonts/suse-hinting.conf, however comment in the same file reads  I think it is matter of taste and as such should be discussed here, so your comments and observations are welcome and any help with testing appreciated. I personally like this (system default) change, I found many fonts improved from my POV. See two examples attached (left hintfull, right hintslight). Best, Petr

Hi all, I'm currently trying 0penSuse 12.1 and I've some problems with virtualbox (OSE or regular) or vmware workstation 7.x or 8.x. Install of package works fine, but I can't compile driver (vboxdrv or vmon, ...) Perhaps openSUSE isn't controlled by SUSE, but it certainly isn't controlled by the community either: We don't yet have a foundation, many key "community" positions are (apparently) occupied by SUSE staff. [opensuse-factory] Package amavisd-new no longer in repositories

Both in the repositories of RC1 and factory the packages amavisd-new and amavisd-milter disappeared; amavisd-docs is still there. Is this on purpose or an oversight? [opensuse-factory] External HDMI video - 12.1 RC1

I've tried connecting my ThinkPad E520 to an external monitor (HDTV) using HDMI. This works well in Windows 7, where everything that appears on the screen is duplicated on both monitors. However, when I try 12.1 RC1, it wants to configure the external monitor and I get different resolutions, such as 1024 x 768. [opensuse-factory] Why mounting /media as tmpfs?

Hi, from the package changelog of aaa_base we know * Fri Oct 14 2011 lnussel@... - mount /media as tmpfs - resolve symlink for rcXX -> XX.service sytemd magic /media is now mounted as tmpfs. But why are we doing this? Unfortunately there is no reference to a bug or openFATE ID. It would be an advantage to our users if those bug and openFATE IDs are also readable to them. :) There's no bug caused by this /media tmpfs mount. There's a widget called "plasma-widget-kbstate" that's used to show the state of keys such as CapsLock and NumLock on notebooks that don't have indicators for this. Is it possible to have this added to openSUSE. Searching on the web, I can only find up to openSUSE 11.3. [opensuse-factory] Should Yast2 be built with GTK3?

Recent version of Yast2-gtk looks completely alien among other GTK applications. In 12.1 only Gnome-shell uses GTK3 while other desktops (Xfce, Lxde) use GTK2. LibreOffice also provides only GTK2 integration. [opensuse-factory] edd not working?

Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade my laptop drive. While preparing for the exchange, I found that the default options to refer to the disk drive are crap for my use case: susi:~ # cat /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD2500BEVS-08VAT2_WD-WX20AC9U2733 This will work if I put the current drive into another computer, but it will fail miserably when dd'ing the contents of this disk onto another drive ;-) So I was looking for another way to refer to the disk. Probably for now, the /dev/disk/by-path will have to do, as it will stay the same in this machine. However, I was wondering what happened to edd which was usable before (maybe long ago). "modprobe edd" seems to do nothing, no links are created in /dev/disk/... /sys/firmware/edd/int13_dev80/ contains data, so something seems to be obtained from the disk... Is this no longer really supported or are the missing links simply a bug?
