[opensuse-factory] 11.3 - zypper dup

Hi, there are still a few pet peeves in 11.3, like compiz not working with nouveau (at least on my system), but I've managed to upgrade 2 machines with 'zypper dup' from 11.2 to 11.3 and it was the _very first time_ I got a satisfactory result without having to do a fresh install. My main PC is a dual boot system with windows XP booting from the first disk. With 11.2 I had to use some grub magic with "map (hd0) (hd1)" etc., but this time it just worked ;-) The 2nd machine is a laptop with an encrypted home partition. No problems whatsoever - even desktop effects work out of the box (intel 945GM). There was some cleaning up to do and it was slow, but that was tolerable. THANK YOU! [opensuse-factory] Not clean unmount of root LVM filesystem on shutdown

Hi, I've upgraded to the latest factory snapshot and everything seems to work fine except: 1. I noticed twice that the root filesystem isn't cleanly unmounted when the system shuts down. Only the root (system) LVM partition is affected; an error message that might be related is about the file descriptor of /dev/blog leaking. 2. I'm using the radeon open source driver with KMS, and the boot splash screen doesn't appear. Also, the resolution of the system console is too low. Any advice is welcome. Hi all, after the upgrade from openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3 I am not able to use the command "xrandr --output LVDS1 --set scaler center". Now i´ve tried to install it, but i`m getting: "python-zope-interface, benötigt von python-transaction-1.0a1-5.2.x86_64 wird von keinem Repo angeboten". [opensuse-factory] RFC: removal of heartbeat-* from Factory

Hi Everybody, I've recently updated most of the High Availability packages in network:ha-clustering:Factory to current stable versions (corosync 1.2, openais 1.2, pacemaker 1.1 etc. - previously we had openais 0.80.x and pacemaker 1.0.x, which were really quite old). This leaves the question of what to do with the heartbeat package. Currently we have version 2.99.3, which gives us: - heartbeat - heartbeat-resources (obsoleted by resource-agents) - heartbeat-common (obsoleted by cluster-glue) - heartbeat-ldirectord (obsoleted by resource-agents) - associated lib & devel packages Upstream, heartbeat is now at version 3.0, but is effectively in "maintenance mode" (i.e. not under active development)[1]. So, we should either upgrade heartbeat in Factory to version 3 (and make it use the new resource-agents and cluster-glue packages as dependencies), or drop it. I personally am in favour of dropping it, because: - We have a current version of corosync/openais as an alternative messaging layer for Pacemaker clusters. - Heartbeat is no longer under active development. - I am not currently in a position where I can upgrade and/or maintain the Heartbeat packages myself. Accordingly, if nobody objects (or offers to become maintainer) before the end of Monday July 5[2], I'll put in a deleterequest for heartbeat in Factory some time on Tuesday. Would it be possible for someone to add an 11.3 branch to the apache repo's? The fact that there isn't a 11.3 version of apache2-mod_auth_kerb keeps from upgrading. [opensuse-factory] YaST2 module list from command line

Hi all, I have just upgraded my openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3 using online repositories and "zypper dup". Now I have the following problem: if I open a terminal, type (as root) yast2 and push the tab twice to get the list of available yast modules, then the list is incomplete. For instance, the sw_single module is not shown, but it is surely installed since I can use it. Am I missing something? Should I open a bug report? [opensuse-factory] i915.modeset=0 worked with a 2.6.34-RC3 kernel, but not with RC2

All, I filed https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=594542 a couple months ago and was given a workaround of booting with i915.modeset=0 which was fine. I've just upgraded to RC2 and that workaround is no longer working, which is a pretty serious bug if there is not an alternate workaround for this fairly common GPU. Can any one give me a suggestion? fyi: I updated the bug with this info as well as Xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log, so if anyone is curious, check the bug.
