[opensuse-factory] 11.3 install - multiple corrupt download (including kernel) - howto rpm -Uvh new kernel on box?

Guys, Of all days, today I began an 11.3 update on an i586 box. (7.3G in all). Due to the redirector problems, I have had ~100 bad checksum/corrupt packages. Many I could 'retry' and successfully download. The most important, (the kernel), I downloaded 7 times and never was able to get a good package, so I skipped it. I manually downloaded all kernel packages from a mirror and I have copied them to the box where the install is running, but it will not let me install them. I'm working on vt2 and have the kernel packages in /var/cache/zypp/packages/.../i586. When the install stuck on another bad checksum, I presumed that the rpm database wouldn't be locked and I tried to install the kernel packages via 'rpm -Uvh kernel*.rpm' but got errors instead of an install. The error is: error: cannot open Package index using db3 - no such file or directory (2) error: cannot open package database in /var/lib/rpm Huh? I suspect that I need to tell rpm where the current install rpm database is, but never being faces with an install where the kernel was corrupt, I haven't a clue how to proceed. [opensuse-factory] Problems with Broadcom BCM4312 on Net/Notebooks

Sorry to drag this issue up again but I have the exact same issue with my hp pavilion dv7-2230sa after install it freezes at the mentioned point during initial reset. I cannot boot at all without failsafe and even then I get random freezing. If I upgrade the kernel to .35 would that fix the problem or cause more dependency problems than it solves? I can run the script to get the firnware but would really like it to just boot first time everytime. Larry is this totally different issue because the installation media boots first time. Next time my insurance replaces my laptop I will ask what wifi card it has to avoid this hassle!! Broadcom should be banned!!! Or release the firmware to opensource community! [opensuse-factory] Warning 11.3 destroy a Raid1

Hello, On my site 11.3 destroy the installed Win System on a Raid 1 Intel Matrix Storage system (SoftRaid) This Weekend I have to recover or install the Cumputer new, on three systems from my 'friend's'. Hello :-) As you may know, the rescue system was dropped from 11.3. One of the main reasons I understood was that it was nearly impossible to get in touch with debuggers while following the new distro building I think it's a shame to lose such good product. So may be we could build an openSUSE live repair cd. Hi all. Phoronix has run distribution comparison [1]. I´m just wondering why disk transaction performance has Ubuntu 10.04 faster than openSUSE 11.3 RC1, when both distros uses an ext4 file system.
