What did I do? - Examined most of "trident" driver options; Among them, only "XvHsync" and "XvVsync" had effect, but using this options causes another issue: When you take the xine display on fullscreen mode, system hangs! - Used "vesa" driver; Although it fixes that issue, it has not performance for playing movies. - The problem is when using the tv-out (not monitor). The monitor displays a screen without any flickering and that, unless I increase the horizontal screen size above 1320. All settings up to 1320x768 work, 1321x768 and everything above does not and I can't fix it by tuning the Modeline. The monitor simply says "out of range". I don't understand this, because the PanelSize *is* set to 1366x768 and the timings work, so to my understanding the graphics card always sends a 1366x768 screen to the monitor by DVI independently of the acutal resolution (and rescales it, if the card is set to another resolution). Am I misunderstanding something here? The modelines I am unsing at the moment are: Modeline "1366x768" 84.50 1366 1392 1712 1744 768 783 791 807 Modeline "1320x768" 84.50 1320 1392 1712 1744 768 783 791 807 If I make a 1321 out of the 1320, it breaks. Problem using a large flat screen monitor connected by DVI

Hello! I am using Suse Professional 9.2. I'm trying to run an X Window display on a 37 inch flat screen monitor (Sharp LC-M3700) connected by DVI to a ATI Radeon 7000/VE graphics card. It works, but not at the highest available resolution. According to the manual, the monitor can display 1366x768 pixels. It works perfectly using an 1024x768 resolution, for example. If I use the desired resolution, the monitor simply displays "out of range". I've tried both sax2 (also with the --vesa switch with the desired resolution as a parameter) and playing around with XF86Config by hand, even trying different "Modelines". One problem seems to be that the X Window System does not properly recognize the resolution of the screen. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log I find a line (II) RADEON(1): Panel size found from DDC: 1024x768 So the X Window System thinks that the monitor tells it that it has a maximum resolution of 1024x768, which is actually not true. That's probably the cause for the message (WW) RADEON(1): Mode 1366x768 is out of range. (WW) RADEON(1): Valid modes must be between 320x200-1024x768 a few lines later. Is there an explanation for the wrong value or a way to override it? I can not find a way to define another resolution at the monitor. Any help or a hint into the right direction is much appreciated! Servus! Ich habe hier einen Computerpool mit ca. 30 (identischen) Rechnern, von denen alle mit dieser tollen GraKa ausgerüstet sind. Wir planen einen Kurs, bei dem wir OpenGL Grafik benötigen. Auf einem System habe ich SuSE-9.2 installiert und versucht OpenGL mit dem NVIDIA-6629 zum Laufen zu bringen. Der X-Server startet auch (NVIDIA-Logo) und der Window-Manager läd, aber es gibt furchtbare Darstellungsfehler (Cursor und Schriften bleiben stehen, Kicker ist unsichtbar, Redraw funktioniert nicht...) Ich hab schon allerhand ausprobiert: NvAGP SWCursor, HWCursor Recompile mir Änderungen an der os-registry.c (wegen SDRAM/SGRAM) Heruntersetzen der AGP-Rate (von 4x auf 2x) aber nichts scheint zu helfen :-( Mit dem nv-Treiber funktioniert es wunderbar, aber 350 fps bei glxgears sind nicht genug... Hat jemand Erfolg mit dieser Karte? Ich könnte auch bis SuSE-8.2 zurückgehen, wenn das den Erfolg garantiert. (Ich kann bloß nicht 30 neue GraKas kaufen) Mathias

Screen Freeze after leave the PC for a long while...

Hi all, I have encountered a problem. I leave my PC unused for a while, the screensaver turns on(even if I disable it in kde desktop setting) and then after a long while (> 1 hr). I find that the PC not longer response to my keyboard, mouse and the screen remain blank. I couldn't do any except hit the "reset" button of my PC. Is there any way to resolve it? rpm anomaly

Hello, Can anybody explain the following lines: When I first attempted to install xemacs there were a lot of missing dependencies, but I chipped away until I got to the missing libraries: libRCK and libcanna Philipp Thomas suggested I try pin. I had never heard of it, but I tried. pin said that it couldn't find the required archive.gz on the DVD and so I had to manage it manually. After completing the task I now get the following responses to quiery and install: # rpm -q xemacs-info-21.4.15-43.x86_64.rpm package xemacs-info-21.4.15-43.x86_64.rpm is not installed # rpm -i xemacs-info-21.4.15-43.x86_64.rpm package xemacs-info-21.4.15-43.x86_64.rpm is already installed This now occurs with other xemacs components. I hate 'that' other O.S., but it was always easy to install packages!!! Please help me to stick with Linux; I really want to make it work. Regards, Colin

X.Org 6.8.2 w/ fglrx-8.8.25 GLU problems...

Greetings, I am having difficulties running applications that use the GLU library with fglrx-8.8.25 w/ hardware acceleration on X.Org 6.8.2 and SuSE 9.2 on an ATI Radeon 9600XT. Whenever I run an application that uses the GLU library the display will freeze and refuse to take any input from the mouse or keyboard; after this, the machine cannot be restarted without hitting the reset button (I have tried to ssh into the machine, su - and reboot). My running theory is that only some of the symbols in the GLU library are culprit as the application does not freeze at startup, but shortly thereafter (ie, blender runs fine until a menu is pressed; glxinfo runs with no problems). My hardware is a Pentium 3.4E w/ hyper threading on an ABIT IC7G Max II Advance w/ a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT running SuSE 9.2. The fglrx and X.Org 6.8.2 packages are the ones provided at ftp.suse.com. Xorg X11 and external output

Hi list, after some (fruitless) attemps to make X11 aware of an external projector, it worked today totaly unexspected. my theory is: depending on the initial state (external,internal,both) X11 get initialised. and this can not be changed afterwards. (atleast for the i810 driver) If there is someone with knowledge about the internal workings of X11, can he perhaps take a look at this anoyance ? (stefan ?) re, walter
