[opensuse-kde3] Missing writing accents

Hello List, how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop? My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys. Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there is no application writing accents. Writing accents is active (kcontrol). Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?. [opensuse-kde3] Default SDDM cannot be customized or replaced without KDE4 or Plasma?

I run my OpenSuSE machines with either KDE3 or Trinity desktops. After installing Leap 42.2 recently, I am unable to get KDM to run, and there does not seem to be any way to customize the preinstalled SDDM (to prevent it displaying login IDs) or to replace it, either. I'm guessing that its binary is imbedded in the login process, even though it wasn't installed as part of KDE4 or Plasma (which I didn't install and don't want). I used the YaST /etc/sysconfig editor component to attempt to change the display manager to kdm, but that has no effect. How can I (preferably) replace SDDM with KDM, or at least configure SDDM so that it doesn't display login ID information? I was able to install the package containing SDDM so that I could see the documentation and configuration file (/etc/sddm.conf), but modifying this file to suppress userid display has no effect. Also, /etc/sddm.conf says that it will display theme maui, but it displays the OpenSuSE wallpaper (with the lightbulb), so it's pretty clear that SDDM isn't reading its config file. :-( Here it is. I recently acquired a Matias BlueTooth keyboard that I can use to switch between my Linux and Mac computers. It works well with the Mac, but I haven't been able to get it to work with Linux. I'm using an Asus USB-BT400 USB adapter to connect it to my Asus H270M-Plus motherboard. [opensuse-kde3] Attempted opening of .kcrash file causes 100% CPU use - requires killing app

When attempting to open the saved .kcrash text files in either kate/kwrite or konqueror Preview -> Embedded Advanced Text Editor the applications experience a race condition causing 100% CPU use and requiring the effected process to be killed to correct the problem. This is 100% repeatable on my system. The common thread seems to be the Advanced Text Editor (katepart?) handling of files with the .kcrash extension. The files are simple text files so there doesn't seem to be anything content related involved. Simply renaming, e.g. knotify_libjack6_wdebug.kcrash to knotify_libjack6_wdebug.txt allows the file to open properly in all applications. [opensuse-kde3] Make KDE3 aware of non-KDE programs?

My favourite text editor is an Xwindows program called X2, which I launch from either the Konsole or from an application button on my panel. I would like, if possible, to make KDE aware that (an) instance(s) is/are running when I log out, so that X2 can be restored at the next login. Is there a way to do that? [opensuse-kde3] Other Bug to Fix - /usr/lib64/libjack.so.0 crash that takes kde sound theme sounds out.

All, We need a KDE bug tracker to collect all these nit that need fixing. One other nit is a libjack.so.0 crash that will regularly occur once during a session. It may take a day for the bug to appear, but on access to sound them sounds (no one in particular, then a kcrash report appears) The file catching the crash is libjack0-1.9.9.5-5.11.x86_64 from OSS. Now sound is kde theme sounds are dead until you restart the desktop. I've attached the backtrace I've saved: -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

[opensuse-kde3] external storage notify and removal

Nothing appeared on taskbar or system tray to facilitate knowledge of or safe removal of attached removable media. Then, I put in a DVD disc, window popped up asking what to do, I answered new window, and the content of the already open Konq window showed content of the DVD, with no chance of the back button to return anywhere. Content of stick was no longer anywhere to be found. Nothing appeared on taskbar or system tray to facilitate knowledge of or ejection of attached disc. 1-does the above describe what should happen with Konq windows when two removable media are inserted and "new window" is the selection in each case? 2-what's missing that nothing appeared in the system tray after inserting either removable media? I tried adding and 1 stick, plus 1 "CD" (generically labeled), plus 1 DVD (correctly labeled) appeared in the tray. Trying to safely remove the stick succeeded to umount, but (kio_media_mounthelper) reported both successful unmounting, and that the non-ejectable device could not be ejected. On ejecting the DVD, the tray still shows the phantom CD, confirmed by mount command output: /dev/sr0 on /mnt type iso9660 (ro,relatime).
