Hello List,
how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop?
My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from
inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys.
Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there
is no application writing accents.
Writing accents is active (kcontrol).
Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?.
Thanks,
Helga

Hi!
I am about to install openSUSE 12.1 on a laptop. I want to use it mainly
(or entirely) with the KDE3 desktop but I still want to be able to run
KDE4 applications under KDE3. In the past, I have done this with openSUSE
11.3 and 11.4. During installation of 11.3 and 11.4, I selected KDE4 as
the default desktop. Then I added the KDE:KDE3 repository and installed
all the packages to properly run KDE3 following more or less the
recommendations given here:
HOW-TO: KDE 3.5 on 11.4
This has worked perfectly and I was even able to use the oxygen theme in
KDE3. For example, okular and vlc came with the nice oxygen theme even
when running under KDE3.
My question is: Is this procedure going to work also with openSUSE 12.1 or
is there anything in particular I have to pay attention to?
Thanks!

not in /media
Is there a udev rule to cover this and make it work?
BTW I have named each flash such as 512MB and 16GBKingston and hope these names can be used as I use different ports on the same computer.

Hi All,
I nearly adopted 13.1 + KDE3. First, each time I boot it, I get the
correct screen resolution, thanks to "nomodeset" in the boot line. There is
such a long that it did not happen ! I adopted it on the 12.2 I currently
use, but I booted it only once.
What I saw is that Kicker has difficulty to stay awake, but its OK and
could life with it. I succeeded to run Skype correctly (micro and speakers),
but only once, and made so much manipulations before that I could not repeat.
I could live with that too. What I can not live with, is the keyboard
problem. I tried to localise it but unsuccessfully. So, I can not enter the
méta-characters that I absolutely need, like éèêà, etc.
I suppose that it is not very serious and that keyboard problem should be
known and perhaps already solved. This has not changed. Someone has the
solution, please?
I'm blown away by the speed at which the system starts. A deserved «
congratulations » to the OpenSuse team (for once!).
Thank you again, "Serghei Amelian" and "Ilya Chernykh," for the
maintenance of KDE3.
Cheers,
Patrick
