Hello List,
how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop?
My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from
inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys.
Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there
is no application writing accents.
Writing accents is active (kcontrol).
Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?.
Thanks,
Helga

Ilya,
What KDE3 source tree do you use to build the srpms in the suse/kde3 build
process. With TDE, the source tree was hosted on GIT, but all I find for suse is
the .srpms. I have a box I would like to use to set up a build environment on,
grab the source tree and the build scripts and see about building locally so we
can work on some of the minor nits as they come up. (like tracking down the
pm-utils suspend hooks and whether there is a kcmshell applet for
suspend/hibernate. Given the patch state, it appears suse is still pulling from
the final kde 3.5.10 source. If that is true, could you please point me to the
source you are drawing from as well as the patch-sets. .specs and build-scripts
you are using.
Let me know what you have and where it is hidden. I would like to build
standalone, rather than though OBS. That way I don't have some admin trying to
delete my project because it is taking more than 200 Meg of space (3.6G for full
source).

All,
I can't find the setting that allows setting the auto timeout for suspend to
ram. I have usually suspended by either just closing the lid or by choosing
"Suspend Computer" from the logout menu. Is there some where I can set this to
happen automatically? I seem to recall there being a PowerSetting or
Laptop/Battery set of kcmshell pages, but I can't find them offhand. Anybody
have any ideas?

Hello:
I use openSUSE 12.2 with KDE 3.5.10. I am testing different KDE3 ftp clients, KFTP, KFTPGrabber, KuFTP. None of them let me paste the password for ftp login in their connections windows, which makes me think that this is a KDE3, not an applications 'issue'. As the password I have to type is something like "a8shgeyrtsd84befc" typing it in is not a solution. How can I enable pasting of passwords? This restriction is ridicolous.
I don't want to use KDE password manager (KDE wallet?).
Thanks,
Istvan

Anyone know what needs to be configured or installed to enable a normal user
to safely remove a stick mounted via auto discovery and opened in Konq as
file manager? Is it simply a matter of hal not being installed? Are there
negative consequences to having hal on 13.1? In 11.4 safely remove from Konq
context menu just worked, no fuss, no complaint about no permission.

Hello All,
I have a KDE3 session opening different applications on different desks, one
of them being kmail on a "secondary" desk. At one moment (here 10 minutes),
kmail requires the openning of kwallet. Everything is OK until here. Some
time, as I am working, I forget kmail and because I did not ear the openning
notification sound of that dialogue (not visible because not on the current
desk), it stays open, waiting for the password. It's still OK. But if
konqueror (or maybe an other application) needs too to open kwallet, the
dialogue appears normaly immediately (on the currently displayed desk, but a
second time, then, and I forgot the one open by kmail). In that sirconstance,
if I enter the password and validate, the system hangs definitively and I
have only to reboot because of this hanging. I hope that I have been clear in
my explanations.
I think that a easy way to escape this bad situation without fixing
this "bug" could be to make the window of the dialogue of the openning of
kwallet being VISIBLE ON ALL DESKS. Would it be possible ?
I thank the maintainers of KDE3 packages for there work, and the attention
paid by all readers to this mail.

Hello:
There might be some problem with my KDE3 installation in openSUSE 13.2.
In previous system I use(d) openSUSE KDE3 start menu has nice categories;
eg. system menu has submenus Configuration, Desktop Applet, Emulator, File Manager, File System, Monitor, Network etc. In openSUSE 13.2 every application is directly under system menu there are no submenus. Submenus are missing in other main menus too like graphics, multimedia, office, settings, internet.
Why is the and how could I fix it?
These are the kde3base package I have installed on my 13.2 system:
kdebase3-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-apps-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-runtime-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-SuSE-branding-openSUSE-11.3-117.1.x86_64
kdebase3-ksysguardd-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-extra-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-kdm-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-SuSE-11.3-117.1.x86_64
kdebase3-SuSE-lang-11.3-117.1.noarch
kdebase3-workspace-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase3-session-3.5.10.1-391.3.x86_64
kdebase4 packages are also installed. Can it cause the problem?
Thanks,
Istvan
