Hi!
I am about to install openSUSE 12.1 on a laptop. I want to use it mainly
(or entirely) with the KDE3 desktop but I still want to be able to run
KDE4 applications under KDE3. In the past, I have done this with openSUSE
11.3 and 11.4. During installation of 11.3 and 11.4, I selected KDE4 as
the default desktop. Then I added the KDE:KDE3 repository and installed
all the packages to properly run KDE3 following more or less the
recommendations given here:
HOW-TO: KDE 3.5 on 11.4
This has worked perfectly and I was even able to use the oxygen theme in
KDE3. For example, okular and vlc came with the nice oxygen theme even
when running under KDE3.
My question is: Is this procedure going to work also with openSUSE 12.1 or
is there anything in particular I have to pay attention to?
Thanks!
Gianluca

Hello,
sorry, I don't know, where to write a bugreport for KDE3 packages.
On my openSUSE 13.1RC2 I got a failed depency:
kdebase3-runtime-3.5.10.1-345.19.i586 and kdepim3-3.5.10-249.55.i586
are missing libsasl2.so.3. (I'm using the KDE3 repo, not using KDE3
packages which are included in the default repo for openSUSE 13.1).
I think, it could be a write error. Looking for libsasl I found
cyrus-sasl which contains libsasl2.so.2.
Could that be fixed?
This failure inhibits the installation of kdepim3 too.
Thank You,
Helga

Hello All,
Using OSS 12.2, and happy with it. I think that I initiated broblems
with a 500Go hard disk: the swap hangs at mounting time. I tryed to install
kde3-ksmarttray but it said first that smart-gui 1.3-6.2 is missing. Loohing
and finding and selecting it, the dependency checker sontinue saying that
smart-gui 1.3-6.2 is missing.
Nobody surprised of that?
Cheers,
And thank for thoses that maintain the functional KDE functionning!

sooo, it has been a while since I asked this question:
is it possible to use kde3 kmail in suse12.xx, without kmail constantly losing
track of previously downloaded mail from the server? this has been my
experience with *every* installation I have tried to date ; this has forced
me to other mail readers, but i still like the old kmail...
thanks,
d.

Is there a way to force re-scaling of the icons to the same size as in
previous releases?
Also, the file ~/.kde/share/config/systemtray_panelappletrc did not exist
in my home folder and I had to create it. Is there somewhere a template
for panelappletrc? Maybe I'm missing some important keywords.
Thanks a lot for keeping up KDE 3.5!

Hi,
I've noticed that, even though I have "Open as tab in existing Konqueror when
URL is called externally" checked in Web Behavior/Advanced Options, when I
click on a link in e.g. Kmail, a new Konqueror window is opened instead.
Anyone else notice this?

Hi!
Is it possible to change the size of icons in the system tray on the far
right of the panel in KDE3?
I noticed that in openSUSE 12.2 and above the icons in the system tray (in
my case, kmix and klipper) are smaller than in openSUSE 11.3 and they are
arranged in two rows instead of one. I attach here screenshots of the
systray for opensuse 12.x and opensuse 11.3. Is there a way to change the
size of the systray icons in 12.x such that it looks the same as in 11.x?
Thanks!
Gianluca

Is there a way to make KDE's file requester display files in (ideally) "tree"
view format instead of that icky Windoze columnar format? I have found that
I can change the format to "detail" view, but how can I make KDE remember the
setting?
