Hello List,
how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop?
My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from
inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys.
Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there
is no application writing accents.
Writing accents is active (kcontrol).
Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?.
Thanks,
Helga

Hi!
I am about to install openSUSE 12.1 on a laptop. I want to use it mainly
(or entirely) with the KDE3 desktop but I still want to be able to run
KDE4 applications under KDE3. In the past, I have done this with openSUSE
11.3 and 11.4. During installation of 11.3 and 11.4, I selected KDE4 as
the default desktop. Then I added the KDE:KDE3 repository and installed
all the packages to properly run KDE3 following more or less the
recommendations given here:
HOW-TO: KDE 3.5 on 11.4
This has worked perfectly and I was even able to use the oxygen theme in
KDE3. For example, okular and vlc came with the nice oxygen theme even
when running under KDE3.
My question is: Is this procedure going to work also with openSUSE 12.1 or
is there anything in particular I have to pay attention to?
Thanks!
Gianluca

Hi everybody,
Thank all for taking care of KDE3.
I would like to know, please, if some user of the Oss 12.2 did compile
successfully Audacity (with MP3 support) and remember how he did.
How to know when there is an available update of Oss 13.1, while not using
it (-: guess ? i use 12.2)?
Thank you,
Patrick

Hi All,
Now that I know that my Amd FX mather borad is not damaged (a problem of
disques posted earlyer), I dicided to try to reinstal Oss 13.1.
I am happy because the X "nouveau" nvidia driver (or whatever Oss had
installed is stable an I did not have any problem. Neither at the boot time
nor at the X stating time. Nice, and thank a lot to the involved developpers!
I just did the intallation today (2014-05-04). The problem is that the
task bar is not compatible with th sound (as fare as I see). Whwn I restarted
the sound system with help of yast, the task bar desapears. The noise made by
the circuitry i well audible until kdm starts kde3. Pulseaudio is not
installed. Can someone tell me, please, How could I diasable the task bar in
KDE, waiting for an update (if my thinking is correct on the source of the
sound problem) ?
Thank you, and cheers.
