Hello List,
how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop?
My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from
inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys.
Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there
is no application writing accents.
Writing accents is active (kcontrol).
Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?.
Thanks,
Helga

Some time ago KDE3 support has been removed from openSUSE's LibreOffice
packages
even though it is well featured by upstream.
I have built LibreOffice with KDE3 support but my commits were rejected
under various pretexts.
A follow-up discussion emerged here:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-04/msg00119.html
but no one voiced in support of this feature except me.
I can build LibreOffice with KDE3 support in KDE:KDE3 but this will take a
lot of OBS power and
the package will be either outdated or will need constant fixing.
That is I am calling now you folks who uses KDE3 to voice more strongly in
support of restoration of KDE3
feature in LibreOffice.

Hi All
There are some days that I am using Oss 13.2 with KDE3, thinking it will
be definitively adopted. It was OK until this mornig. For an unknown reason,
I can not enter metacharacters like é but not ç or ¿. And only the
specifical to KDE3 softwares like Kate, Konqueror, KMail and others. There is
no problem with the other software like Firefox, Chrome, Gimp and so on. I
spend most of my time editing with Kate, which means that I nead this
feature.
It looks like KDE3 "could no longer" handle dead keys. I use a spanich
keyboard where "e" with accent (like "`" or "´") are composed with a depress
on a dead key before pressing the "e" key. From "Keyboard layout" from
KControl, I tryed the french one : the problem of the dead keys is identical.
I only installed the last version of Xampp yesturday. So, I tryed not to
start the servers, but without success.
I removed IBus with help of Yast, which forced the removing of a lot of
Gnome softwares. But it did not solved anything.
Does someone can help me saying in which direction I should look to solve
this problem, please ?
Thank you for the attention you paid to this mail.
Patrick
I am looking in the X direction, but it looks huge !

Heads up.
>From the Tumbleweed core maintainers:
"* We have kde3 packages failing to build for 3 weeks without any
reaction. If nobody steps up to maintain this, I will file delete
requests (notice mails went to the maintainers already)."
Has Ilya seen these notices? If neither he nor anyone else contacts Dominque
soon, he will drop unmaintained KDE3 from factory.
