[opensuse-kde3] Missing writing accents

Hello List, how can I get back the ability writing accents on my KDE3-desktop? My System is openSUSE 13.1 with KDE3 (3.5.10 release 262) from inofficial Suse-repos. I'm using the keyboard layout with dead keys. Under KDE4 all applications can work with accents. Under KDE3 there is no application writing accents. Writing accents is active (kcontrol). Any hints (or is this behaviour a bug)?. [opensuse-kde3] 13.1: can only safely remove usb device as root user

Anyone know what needs to be configured or installed to enable a normal user to safely remove a stick mounted via auto discovery and opened in Konq as file manager? Is it simply a matter of hal not being installed? Are there negative consequences to having hal on 13.1? [opensuse-kde3] Bad session starts

Hello All, I Start the system in mode 3, and launch a bash script that starts the Lampp server with "/opt/lampp/lampp start↵", and X with "init 5↵" There are problems that are relatively easy to turn around, and that arrive every 2/3 days, one of those (in frequency order): - the Sound system work bad ("Yast" -> Click on the "Harware information" -> "Sound" is generaly enougth to solve) - the Lampp server does not start ("Alt"+"F2" -> "kdesu /opt/lampp/lampp restart↵" solves) - the X server works bad : no key / no mouse while the login window is displayed. This is more borring but appens more rarely too: I have to go back in the console pressing "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"F1" then to press "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"Supr" to reboot the system, or to press the "Power on" push button of the CPU for Linux to power off the system. More generaly, I mentioned that entereing "init 3↵" followed by "init 5↵" does not work at all and I have to reboot the system. I post that here being conviced that KDE3 is not involved, but rather SystemD. Anyway, if this message does not help, just ignore it ! [opensuse-kde3] crop and resize image without Gimp

GIMP is unwieldy to do the few image manipulations I typically want to do, almost exclusively crop and/or resize. Gwenview seems like it should be able to do these things, but the manipulation I make most often seems to be missing - image cropping. Is cropping not a Gwenview feature? Does cropping have some other name in Gwenview that I don't seem to be able to recognize? Does cropping in Gwenview require some plugin that is not installed (my Gwenview's plugin's effects menu is empty), maybe kipi-plugins? Is there a simple KDE or QT image editor in the repos? Is that what darktable, graphicsmagick, imagemagick-extra, or kde3-kim are for? [opensuse-kde3] Need people to voice support for KDE3 compatibility in LibreOffice

Some time ago KDE3 support has been removed from openSUSE's LibreOffice packages even though it is well featured by upstream. I have built LibreOffice with KDE3 support but my commits were rejected under various pretexts. A follow-up discussion emerged here: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-04/msg00119.html but no one voiced in support of this feature except me. I can build LibreOffice with KDE3 support in KDE:KDE3 but this will take a lot of OBS power and the package will be either outdated or will need constant fixing.
