> Is there any public SFTP servers on the net?
Sorry, I have not caught your idea. Would you like to specify your question? Which net? What do you mean "public"?
I am using local sshd on my computer, as I have been using it for ages. Besides, the sftp protocol works perfectly under the KDE3 applications at another computer on my home network, which still stay with OpenSUSE 11.2 (except for connecting the upgraded computer).

Ilya, Robert:
KDE3 Looks really, really good in 11.4. Two issues have surfaced:
(1) kcontrol is empty :(
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/suse/bugs/114/kde3/kcontrol-empty.jpg
(kcmshell.kcrash included at the end, below)
I also have a kcontrol.kcrash from trying to select kthememanager->icons
(2) The konqueror sftp://host:port/path/to/file syntax doesn't work in 11.4. I
just talked about this with Robert/all on the Trinity list and it appeared fixed
in 11.3. But in 11.4 it is broken again :(
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/suse/bugs/114/konqueror/sftp-ssh-error.jpg
fish is OK:
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/suse/bugs/114/konqueror/fish-ok.jpg
Also, why not bump konqueror -> settings -> Previews & Meta-Data -> Maximum file
size: 6M (3 is sort of small)
Let me know if I can send anything else.
Great Job Ilya!!

Ilya, all,
In my 11.4 install, when I insert an audio CD, the app chooser dialog doesn't
pop up (i.e. to choose Amarok, kd3, etc..). Popping the same CD in an Arch Linux
install with (3.5.12) works just fine. What should I check on the opensuse setup
to see why this isn't working?

Sorry, sent to the wrong list. Sending again
Thanks for letting me know that and I am happy it works
for you. However, that doesn't help me. Mine will not,
either for anonymous or private. Hoping someone can tell me
why so I can fix it.
The only clue I have is what Konsole reports and I don't
know what it means.

Sorry. sent to he wrong list. sending it correctly now.
I don't really have any special window decorations except
what helps me visually. I am visually impaired and I do not like
"glitz" The style is Keramik and the theme is Redmond.
As I stated previously, I have used Igloo for many years and it
always has worked perfectly for me. But now I must find
something else because I cannot get the fonts hig enough
to see anymore.

Hello SuSE users,
Running 11.3 with kDE3.5
Needed an ftp client. Downloaded and installed Kbear. Seems to have installed
OK but it will not connect to any ftp site. Brings up a simple short message
stating it could not connect to (whatever the site name is) No logging that I
know of.
Anybody else using Kbear and working for them?

Weird. If I boot or reboot, log into root, and try to insert anything,
nothing happens ... no KDE query re: "what do you want to do".
If I log out, then log in as regular user, no problem inserting anything. If
I then log out of regular user and log in as root again, it works fine.
Reboot to root login, and nothing is recognised again.
Any ideas? Pretty hard to burn anything (e.g.,) if inserted devices are not
recognised in root. Yeah, please don't say "operate as regular user". TIA.
