So apparently, kwallet is the only component of kdeutils3 that is missing. Oddly enough, though rpm -q kdeutils3 --filesbypkg|grep /bin/ shows it is present, the YaST package manager (used to install kdeutils3) shows that it is NOT present:

What happens when you run kwalletmanager? e.g.

Alt+F2 or open konsole and type

/opt/kde3/bin/kwalletmanager

I see the kwalletmanager window (first attached snapshot). When I click on the kwallet icon in that window I see the kwallet window (second snapshot), and a password request window (third snapshot). When I enter the wallet password and click Open I see an error window (fourth snapshot).

Then what happens when you run

kcmshell kwalletconfig

This works fine.

You may want to rebuild the kde-system-config-cache in /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER with

kbuildsycoca --noincremental

Just run it from konsole. The '--noincremental' option tell it to do a complete scan of your config and a complete rebuild of the cache.

I ran this, but I get the same results with kwalletmanager.

Do you have the pinentry-gtk (or pinentry-qt4) package installed? That may be your issue if you have neither.
