Hi everyone!
Recently, I have been studying the Packaging Portal in the openSUSE
wiki. I have found out that there are some pages that could benefit
from an update (there are mentions of very old and unmaintained
distributions) and some pages with overlapping contents.
I want to overhaul the portal a bit and give it some love. For this
reason I have started by creating a visual chart with all the pages and
I have highlighted some possible changes; you can find it attached to
this mail. There are some pages that are out of my expertise (i.e.
"Packaging Haskell" and all the gray items in the chart), so it would
be a huge help if somebody could check them as well.
Attached, there are also the notes about the pages and what could be
updated or added. Please note that both the chart and my notes are
indicative, and not final by any means. Before actually starting to
work on this myself, I wanted to share it on the Factory mailing list
to get some feedback and maybe a helping hand, if possible. If you
would like to help, feel free to pick anything of your choice and start
working on it.
Another issue that I have found out is that there are "Packaging X"
pages, as well as "X guidelines" and even "Packaging X guidelines". Is
there any defined difference that make it worth having three different
naming conventions? Otherwise, I think having a consistent naming could
make it more polished.
I am looking forward to know your thoughts about this.

https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/X11:Utilities/apitrace
I created it, because once I needed to report some bug in graphic
drivers. I'm not using it regularly for any work. I maintained it as
long as it was quite easy. I don't have enough time and interest to keep
doing it.
Recently there was a new release (version 11), which added a bunch of
dependencies as git submodules. It's easy to patch it to use system
libraries, except for libbacktrace. I'm not sure if it should use a
shared library (there's a package available in network:cryptocurrencies
project, but not in Factory) or link one statically.
I did some initial work here:

Hello,
i have many unresolvable errors in obs for Leap 15.4.
unresolvable: nothing provides libselinux.so.1(LIBSELINUX_1.0)(64bit) needed
by tar
I see this in other repos also.
Think this is an error.
Can someone fix this, please?

1.4.33, that brought the Insert construct to be partially recognized as an
ORM-enabled statement
* Modified the DeclarativeMeta metaclass to pass cls.__dict__ into the
declarative scanning process to look for attributes, rather than the
separate dictionary passed to the type?s __init__() method
* Fixed a memory leak in the C extensions which could occur when calling upon
named members of Row when the member does not exist under Python 3
* Added a warning regarding a bug which exists in the Result.columns() method
when passing 0 for the index in conjunction with a Result that will return
a single ORM entity, which indicates that the current behavior of
Result.columns() is broken in this case as the Result object will yield scalar
values and not Row objects
* Fixed bug where ForeignKeyConstraint naming conventions using the
referred_column_0 naming convention key would not work if the foreign key
constraint were set up as a ForeignKey object rather than an explicit
ForeignKeyConstraint object.

==== unbound ====
Version update (1.14.0 -> 1.15.0)
Subpackages: libunbound8 unbound-anchor
- drop python2 packages
- update to 1.15.0:
This release has bug fixes for crashes that happened on heavy network
usage. The default for the aggressive-nsec option has changed, it is now
enabled.
The ratelimit logic had to be reworked for the crash fixes. As a result,
there are new options to control the behaviour of ratelimiting.
The ratelimit-backoff and ip-ratelimit-backoff options can be used to
control how severe the backoff is when the ratelimit is exceeded.
The rpz-signal-nxdomain-ra option can be used to unset the RA flag, for
NXDOMAIN answers from RPZ. That is used by some clients to detect that
the domain is externally blocked. The RPZ option for-downstream can be
used like for auth zones, this allows the RPZ zone information to be queried.
That can be useful for monitoring scripts.
Features
- Fix #596: unset the RA bit when a query is blocked by an unbound
RPZ nxdomain reply. The option rpz-signal-nxdomain-ra allows to
signal that a domain is externally blocked to clients when it
is blocked with NXDOMAIN by unsetting RA.
- Add rpz: for-downstream: yesno option, where the RPZ zone is
authoritatively answered for, so the RPZ zone contents can be
checked with DNS queries directed at the RPZ zone.
- Merge PR #616: Update ratelimit logic. It also introduces
ratelimit-backoff and ip-ratelimit-backoff configuration options.
- Change aggressive-nsec default to yes.
Bug Fixes
- Fix compile warning for if_nametoindex on windows 64bit.
- Merge PR #581 from fobser: Fix -Wmissing-prototypes and -Wshadow
warnings in rpz.
- Fix validator debug output about DS support, print correct algorithm.
- Add code similar to fix for ldns for tab between strings, for
consistency, the test case was not broken.
- Allow local-data for classes other than IN to inherit a configured
local-zone's type if possible, instead of defaulting to type
transparent as per the implicit rule.
- Fix to pick up other class local zone information before unlock.
- Add missing configure flags for optional features in the
documentation.
- Fix Unbound capitalization in the documentation.
- Fix #591: Unbound-anchor manpage links to non-existent license file.
- contrib/aaaa-filter-iterator.patch file renewed diff content to
apply cleanly to the current coderepo for the current code version.
- Fix to add test for rpz-signal-nxdomain-ra.
- Fix #596: only unset RA when NXDOMAIN is signalled.
- Fix that RPZ does not set RD flag on replies, it should be copied
from the query.
- Fix for #596: fix that rpz return message is returned and not just
the rcode from the iterator return path. This fixes signal unset RA
after a CNAME.
- Fix unit tests for rpz now that the AA flag returns successfully from
the iterator loop.
- Fix for #596: add unit test for nsdname trigger and signal unset RA.
- Fix for #596: add unit test for nsip trigger and signal unset RA.
- Fix #598: Fix unbound-checkconf fatal error: module conf
'respip dns64 validator iterator' is not known to work.
- Fix for #596: Fix rpz-signal-nxdomain-ra to work for clientip
triggered operation.
- Merge #600 from pemensik: Change file mode before changing file
owner.
- Fix prematurely terminated TCP queries when a reply has the same ID.
- For #602: Allow the module-config "subnetcache validator cachedb
iterator".
- Fix EDNS to upstream where the same option could be attached
more than once.
- Add a region to serviced_query for allocations.
- For dnstap, do not wakeupnow right there. Instead zero the timer to
force the wakeup callback asap.
- Fix #610: Undefine-shift in sldns_str2wire_hip_buf.
- Fix #588: Unbound 1.13.2 crashes due to p->pc is NULL in
serviced_udp_callback.
- Merge PR #612: TCP race condition.
- Test for NSID in SERVFAIL response due to DNSSEC bogus.
- Fix #599: [FR] RFC 9156 (obsoletes RFC 7816), by noting the new RFC
document.
- Fix tls-* and ssl-* documented alternate syntax to also be available
through remote-control and unbound-checkconf.
- Better cleanup on failed DoT/DoH listening socket creation.
- iana portlist update.
- Fix review comment for use-after-free when failing to send UDP out.
- Merge PR #603 from fobser: Use OpenSSL 1.1 API to access DSA and RSA
internals.
- Merge PR #532 from Shchelk: Fix: buffer overflow bug.
- Merge PR #617: Update stub/forward-host notation to accept port and
tls-auth-name.
- Update stream_ssl.tdir test to also use the new forward-host
notation.
- Fix header comment for doxygen for authextstrtoaddr.
- please clang analyzer for loop in test code.
- Fix docker splint test to use more portable uname.
- Update contrib/aaaa-filter-iterator.patch with diff for current
software version.
- Fix for #611: Integer overflow in sldns_wire2str_pkt_scan.

Hi,
I maintain frescobaldi and recently a new version was released. It added
an additional python dependency, which is not present at the moment:
qpageview. I have a package ready, but which is best development project
to submit this to.
Related to this is a question about other python dependencies of
frescobaldi.
1. python-poppler-qt5 lives in multimedia:apps. I think frescobaldi is
the only one using it. Should it move to another project that has python
packages?
2. python-ly was split of from frescobaldi, but I have kept it inside
the frescobaldi package. I want to split this of into its own package in
the future and for that I also need a home.
3. frescobaldi is also a python program, but because it's an editor for
lilypond multimedia:apps seems to be a good project for it. It does not
use that multi-python packaging stuff. Or should it move?
What is the best thing to do here?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
This week we ‘only’ managed to get out 5 snapshots. Over the weekend,
we had a dracut submission in the mix that happened to break in a few
scenarios, resulting in an incomplete initrd. Of course, we caught this
in openQA and did not release those snapshots. In the end, we release
snapshots 0428, 0501, 0502, 0503, and 0504.
the snapshots contained these major changes:
* Poppler 22.04.0
* cURL 7.83.0
* elfutils 0.187
* GNOME 42.1 (mutter and gnome-shell still pending)
* pipewire 0.3.51
* llvm 14.0.3
A little bit of movement in the staging areas, and an ‘old friend’ is
back on the list. The current topics being worked on are:
* Mozilla Firefox 100
* Meson 0.62
* gpg 2.3.6
* Linux kernel 5.17.5
* GCC 12.1 as the default compiler
* some fdupes changes: aid with reproducible builds (order dups by
name)
* Python 3.10 as default interpreter (Staging:A for the curious ones)
Cheers,
Dominique

Hello,
In the previous two release engineering meeting summaries it was noted that WSL/Tumbleweed had stopped working in openQA, but there is no mention of it today. I was curious if anyone ever found out why, and if there are any plans to resolve this? I use WSL/Tumbleweed on a few machines, honestly for nothing really critical, but it would be nice to me if it was running though openQA. I am an enduser that enjoys keeping up with this mailing list, so I hope I am not out of place with my query.
Thank you

I happened upon lite-xl [1] while perusing Google News (on my phone),
just a random part of my feed for the day. I'd attempted a few years
back to be a VSCode user, even trying to integrate my gpg/ssh key
workflow into it with some, albeit limited, success ~ but it was almost
to "big" and I opted to remain with vim and my little curated list of
bundles and plugins. I still <3 vim and will most likely remain my go-
to $EDITOR.
I like the look and feel of lite-xl and the colors [2]/plugins [3]
offered are a nice extension w/o it all getting too complex. I'm not a
lua coder, but I'm happy to dig into things and work along upstream
with it if/when necessary ; I've made a few adjustments around
colors/plugins and would always welcome requests.
Currently living in the "editors" [4] devel project.
