At first I fsck'ed (forced) the filesystems and second I repaired the RPM database ("rpm --rebuilddb"). "rpm --root /mnt/mybox -Va" did not show any interesting mistakes (e.g. in /usr, /lib64 or /usr/lib64). The hardware is probably Okay. "cp -p /etc/motd /tmp" worked on the rescue system. But "chroot /mnt/mybox cp -p /etc/motd /tmp" also fails from the rescue system with "segmentation fault". I verified "cp" and all the dependent libraries with "cmp" between rescue system and installed system. There where no differences except the re-compiled "libacl1" package. I temporarily switched back to the original "libacl1" package. # ldd /usr/bin/cp linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffcb1f73000) libselinux.so.1 => /lib64/libselinux.so.1 (0x00007f3dddcc3000) libattr.so.1 => /usr/lib64/libattr.so.1 (0x00007f3dddcbb000) libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007f3dddaf7000) libpcre.so.1 => /usr/lib64/libpcre.so.1 (0x00007f3ddda5e000) libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x00007f3ddda59000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f3dddd6e000) I could fix the "cp" command by recompiling "coreutils". But this can't be the best solutions for all my 67 packages which depend on "libacl1". Any hints? Since several months I have performance problems with my Windows 10 virtual machine. The host system (Intel Core i5 750, 2.8 GHz; 16 GB RAM; 3 TB WD Red harddisk for the VMs) with openSUSE TW (Qemu 4.0) should be strong enough to run a single Windows 10 desktop in a virtual machine. Other VMs (Linux, FreeBSD) are running without performance problems. But if I start Windows 10 as a single Qemu KVM guest system, the desktop of the host system sometimes becomes unresponsive during Windows boot. The performance of the Windows 10 desktop is bad, approximately 10-20x slower than native and the host system performance also becomes worse. I had the performance problems with Windows 10 1809. Now I installed a fresh Windows 10 1903 machine. The performance is better compared to the old VM, but also bad. I implemented the common performance hints: - enough hard disk (55 GB) and RAM (2-5 GB) and CPU cores (2) for the guest system - all available Virtio drivers (disk, network, balloon, spice, tablet) installed - disabled disk cache (currently cache='unsafe', but also tried cache='none') - HyperV options enabled (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1775702) Here is my Windows 10 1903 quest setup: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/56376915 Does anyone has a working configuration on TW or configuration hints for me? Hi Together, since some month I've a lot of trouble with my about 20 Years old Home network, which was all running on Tumbleweed: Server (NFS 4 Server which is sharing /home config via YaST): |- Client1 (/home mounted via & user via NIS) |- Client2 (/home mounted via & user via NIS) ... |- Client5 (/home mounted via & user via NIS) Remark: Server and Client user are synced via NIS/YP configurated via YaST at Server and Client (basic setup was before about 20 years - last installation due to a root FS crash before about 1 year based on the Tumbleweed installation ISO). On the most Clients KDE Plasma Crashes many times after login If they are starting - it takes about 10 up to 30 minutes!!!! Afterwords the system hangs from time to time with normal load and only the tracker extract info below. What can I do? [opensuse-factory] Switching openSUSE's pkgconfig implementation to pkgconf

Hello all, I've submitted a request to Factory to switch the pkgconf package to provide the pkg-config binary and interface[1]. I've submitted this request because pkgconf has proven to be a solid, well-maintained implementation of pkg-config, used by a wide range of distributions. Today, it is now used in the following Linux distributions: * Fedora (since Fedora 26[2]) * Red Hat Enterprise Linux (since RHEL 8) * Mageia (since Mageia 7) * OpenMandriva (since OpenMandriva Lx 4) * Arch Linux (since May 2018[3]) It is also available as an option in Debian and Ubuntu. Like the other distributions that have decided to ship it, I'd like to switch it in openSUSE because pkgconf is actively maintained with a responsive upstream (as opposed to the moribund upstream for pkgconfig). My experience working with upstream during the Fedora change was extremely positive, and if there are any issues, I fully expect that they can be resolved quickly. That said, I don't expect any issues, because far broader package sets in other distributions have proven that the implementation is solid and reliable. Migrating to pkgconf also would have removed the glib2<->pkgconfig bootstrap cycle that exists for pkg-config if we were not already using the internal glib2 implementation. With pkgconf's pkg-config compatibility switched on, you should be seamlessly switched from pkg-config to pkgconf-pkg-config, which provides the pkg-config interface and Obsoletes+Provides "pkg-config" and "pkgconfig". This should take affect in the next snapshot generated after the SR is accepted, if it is accepted. Any questions or comments?
