[opensuse-factory] Leap falls behind SLE?

Hi, out of curiosity (in thread "Leap upgrade issues") I compared a bit Leap 42.2 with SLE12-SP2 to get a better idea how far we are in sync or not. For that I mapped the 00Meta/lookup.yml of 42.2 to SLE-12-SP2:GA package list and filtered all packages not referring to SLE but to everything else. >From that list I took just one example package which was for no specific reason: apache2-mod_nss Next I did I was: osc rdiff openSUSE:Leap:42.2 apache2-mod_nss SUSE:SLE-12-SP2:GA apache2-mod_nss Now what I found surprised me quite a lot. The SLE12-SP2:GA version is a newer one than the 42.2 version. Somehow this looks plain wrong to me. Did I miss anything? What is needed to make sure that we resync with SLE-12 at least with 42.3? [opensuse-factory] Network YaST unhelpful defaults especially in os installation

The defaults for YaST are nowhere near to being helpful. My wireless adapter appears to have required internet connection to work, at which point I connected Ethernet cable which didn't prompt YaST installer to continue on it's merry way. I think that the installation component should try and avoid presenting all of them settings no one but sysops cares about, which means it should involve some other app like the widget from kde start bar that tries and automates things. Given that I haven't found option for testing OS from live cd and partitioning menu (for "the experts"- since keeping other OSs is luxary only they can afford) not allowing me to give some space for it to work from (like lets sacrifice windows space, and the rest of blank space is urs), it would be fair that you actually provide diagnostics for why no automatic connection to internet was offered, and suggest that they try to connect ethernet cable as a resort. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse-factory] Partition proposal on new TW installation

Hello, I did an installation of current TW on a new HD. Laptop is having 8GB RAM and a 960 GB SSD (Yes, got me a new one - Kingston this time, after Samsung Evo died 1 month after the 3yr warranty period - and Samsung proofed that they are not consumer oriented. But thats a different story...) Partition proposal was: 2GB - Swap 40GB - btrfs root 840GB - XFS home 2GB swap with 8GB RAM does not sound healthy for hibernation - should the proposal not be at least the RAM size? [opensuse-factory] PHP version in 42.3?

Hi, Leap 42.2 ships with PHP 5.5, and so does 42.3 at the moment. It would be very useful to me if Leap 42.3 receives an upgrade to PHP 5.6, so that it can run Nextcloud 11 out of the box. [opensuse-factory] System randomly freezes or crashes to the login screen, glitches until rebooted

I decided to mail about this as well... granted I've had no success bringing it to the attention of the Tumbleweed crew in two weeks, and my system crashes daily because of it. Below is my bug report and a short description of what's happening, logs are attached to the report in cause. Please let me know what you think... and if the source is identified and such is possible, please consider rolling back the change that introduces this problem! Thank you. http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1028575 Approximately once per day, the system experiences a random reoccurring crash: All windows and buttons freeze in place and become unusable, while only the mouse cursor remains possible to move around. After a few seconds, the monitor starts turning itself on and off several times (standby mode). Finally I either find myself back to the login manager, or the monitor permanently stays off... which of the two is completely random. If I manage to kill X11 in time (control + alt + backspace) and try logging back in, desktop effects will sometimes not work although they report no error as to why, whereas at other times the image just freezes again and I'm forced to restart anyway. Today I discovered an important detail: The crash is not limited to KDE desktop effects, unlike most crashes of this sort and what I initially suspected to be the case; I had compositing disabled for several hours (alt + shift + F12), yet the exact same crash occurred! Although the freeze is rare and probabilistic so it's impossible to reproduce on demand, the trigger seems to be some sort of window activity, such as a system tray notification or window popping up... also starting up certain games may cause an immediate system freeze. My OS is Linux openSUSE Tumbleweed, running on top of KDE / Plasma 5. I use the free video drivers and default system packages of this distribution. My card is a Radeon R7 370, GCN 1.0 on RadeonSI and the radeon module (no amdgpu support yet). The issue survived through several kernel updates, indicating it's likely not part of the Linux kernel directly. [opensuse-factory] libmilter missing in sendmail package

Hi List, does anybody know why the libmilter library isn't part of the sendmail package? Debian and fedoray/RH contains subpackages "libmilter" and "sendmail-milter" to ship this library, this is missing in the openSUSE/SUSE packages. I started IceWM on TW 20170315 and TW20170320 i586 installations today. Neither have any kind of toolbar or panel. Right click on desktop produces a normal minimal popup menu. Is this a newly expected behavior?
