[opensuse-factory] LLVM 3.3 is failing to build only in openSUSE Factory i586

Hi guys! I am the maintainer of julia package in openSUSE. Julia 0.4.5 needs llvm 3.3 that is built together with the package. Today, I noticed something really strange. llvm 3.3 (and julia) is being built fine for: _ openSUSE Tumbleweed i586 and x86_64; _ openSUSE Factory x86_64. However, llvm 3.3 is failing to build against openSUSE Factory x86_64. The complete build log can be seen in [1]. My first guess was that a package was updated in Factory and was causing the problem. [opensuse-factory] Neovim editor in openSUSE Factory

Hi guys, Neovim is a refactor—and sometimes redactor—in the tradition of Vim, which itself derives from Stevie. It is not a rewrite but a continuation and extension of Vim. Many clones and derivatives exist; some are very clever, but none are Vim. Neovim strives to be a superset of Vim except for some intentionally- removed misfeatures. It is built for users who want the good parts of Vim, and more. [1] Today, Neovim was accepted in Factory. I have been using it as my main editor for more than 4 months now. It is pretty much stable and, in my machine, replaced completely vim. My question is: what do you think to add an alternative so that the user can choose to which editor the `vi` executable will be pointing to? [opensuse-factory] Colored output with osc build

Hi all, Have you ever spent time wading through build logs searching for a error and wishing the process was slightly easier, well now it can be. Thanks to grc (Generic Colouriser)[1][2] there now is a way. I have written a config file for grc + osc [3], this may provide more colors then some people want (fortunately removing entries from the config file is easy) It also uses all of the 8 common terminal colors so it probably wont look the best on the default xterm with a white background. With this I also intend to push the grc package into factory, it is also capable of colorising a bunch of other applications including ping, df, gcc and netcat. usage is as simple as "grc osc build". Hi all, I thought I'd take a look at the mate desktop. When I open preferences-->appearance it shows that adwaita is missing - even though adwaita for gtk2 is installed. [opensuse-factory] proposed changes to the python3 package

Fellow Python users, I'm planning some changes to how Python 3 is packaged and installed. While the changes themselves are minor, they could have potentially far-reaching consequences, so I want to collect your input first. Firstly, in a move that should make you happy ;) I intend to move the ssl module from python3 to python3-base. This might solve some build-time headaches and will make python3-base useful again. Second, I want to use Recommends to make the default installation of Python 3 pull in the whole standard library. This will mean: - python3-base will Recommend python3 - python3 will Recommend its subpackages. They are now only Suggested. Third, I would like to unbundle setuptools and pip, which are now bundled because of the ensurepip module. It is a bit tricky to do this properly and not break things, so the proposed solution is as follows: - a new subpackage python3-ensurepip will be created. python3 will Recommend python3-ensurepip. (So far it seemed that we can't do a hard require because of build loops with pip and setuptools. This might turn out to be a problem. More input on this point is welcome.) - python3-ensurepip will Require the presence of something along the lines of /usr/share/python-wheels/pip-py3-none-any.whl, similar for setuptools. These files will be provided by python3-pip and python3-setuptools, and built at the same time as the regular installed files. In the end, the python3 rpm itself will only contain sqlite3, xml-related things (xml, xmlrpc, pyexpat) and readline. I am going to wait for your comments for about a week or two, and unless there are good arguments against, start implementing the changes then. I will send a heads-up e-mail when that happens. At this time there are no plans to do the same for Python 2. As it is now pretty much in maintenance mode, I don't intend to do any significant changes to it. regards m.

[opensuse-factory] OpenSUSE and Thunderbolt3

Hello, Dell claims that there is Thunderbolt3 support in the Ubuntu shipped on the Dell XPS13 Developer Edition. Does anyone know, how this support is realized ? And how to get Thunderbolt3 running on OpenSUSE ? Looking into 4.5 kernelsource there is drivers/thunderbolt. But this only seems to handle the "Cactus Ridge" Thunderbolt2 device.
