Hello all, the release of Leap 42.1 is coming soon, we are approaching the RC phase. So this is the best time for you to do additional testing! Please download the latest build from https://openqa.opensuse.org/ (Click: build number-> green dot -> tab Logs& Assets -> Assets) We have prepared a spreadsheet were you can see a list of testcases that could be performed. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AGKijKpKiJCB616-bHVoNQuhWHpQLHPWCb3… You can add yourself to the spreadsheet and give feedback about test results. Add the name of the build and mark it green/amber/red according to your test results and add a *link* to bugzilla in case you have found a bug. LibreOffice in Leap does an horrible job. Abiword does a bit better, but still unusable. It says the document contains revision data which it is ignoring; I don't inkow if that has something to do with the problems. Caligra (in oS 13.1) does badly, too. [opensuse-factory] Leap42 - something must be slowing down my system

It's veryyyyy slow. It's nothing special, an HP xw6400. A couple of Intel 5130 @ 2Ghz with 2Gb RAM. A couple of SATA drives in RAID1, graphics is a dual Nvidia Quadro 440. I use it exclusively for testing Leap. Locking the screen on an otherwise inactive system takes 11 seconds from I press Ctrl-Alt-L. After that it takes another 15 seconds for the icons (user,new,change) to appear on the locked/login screen. To login, I need to click on the password field to move the focus, takes 5 seconds. I type my 8-character password in a second or so, but it takes 5 seconds for it to appear as bullets in the password field. In chunks of 2 and 3. [opensuse-factory] Apache-HTTP/2 in Leap 42.1?

I'd like to ask, if HTTP/2 support is planned in coming release openSUSE Leap 42.1? HTTP/2 support in Apache requires Apache >= 2.4.17 and OpenSSL >= 1.2. Currently I only see Apache 2.4.16 and OpenSSL 1.0.1i in Leap 42.1 packages. Carlos, I think of myself as prolific poster on the various openSUSE mailing lists, but across these 13 lists it seems you outdo me by a factor of 5 since Jan 1, 2013 http://opensuse.markmail.org/search/?q= I believe those are the 13 most popular lists for posts (excluding -offtopic which can be a high volume list as well and I'm pretty active there as well.).. In the last 2 months, you've posted over 10% of the messages across all 13 lists: http://opensuse.markmail.org/search/?q=#query:date%3A201509-201510%20+page:… In those 2 months you've out posted me 10 to 1. It doesn't really bug me, but I can see why it might be an annoyance for others. So as Richard said (I believe), just dropping the number of posts might help as much as anything. Perhaps you could monitor your posting frequency via the above links and make a point of not being the top poster? On the other hand I don't see a month with over 300 posts from you in the last year, so that's 10 or less posts per day from you on average. I don't really find that crazy excessive. fyi: I used to be on a Tru64 UNIX mailing list that had an interesting netiquette. The first poster posted to the list. The rest of the thread was via private emails, then the original poster had the obligation of summarizing the situation once it was resolved. And if there was no resolution, that too had to be reported. It made the archive really useful since it was basically all substance, no fluff. But that was a list for sysadmins, not developers or end-users. I don't think it would work here, but making an effort to reduce the volume of posts looks like a good idea. Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, Tumbleweed is a bit of a quiet place these days… as you can imagine, resources are almost completely redirected to openSUSE Leap 42.1 – that’s contributor and CPU resources. Yet, two snapshots have been released within the last week. The few noteworthy updates where: ================================= * Linux Kernel 4.2.3. The merge of the -desktop flavor into the -default flavor is now reality. You setup will replace the kernel-desktop package(s) with kernel-default. One side effect is that ALL kernel-desktop versions are removed, not only the latest version. You can avoid this with a zypper lock (zypper al kernel-desktop) Problems I heard of in the past weeks, which might impact you too: ================================================================== * Libreoffice 5.0 crashes on saving files: LO5 has a new GTK3 integration module, which is, sadly, not up to the standards yet. But it was realized too late. The next LO5 package will have the GTK3 variant split in a separate package, so that the devs can work with it and debug it. Until then, if you suffer from LO5 crashes, the easiest way is to delete the file /usr/lib64/libreoffice/program/libvclplug_gtk3lo.so (you could also uninstall libreoffice-gnome, but then LO will look really bad) What is brewing in the Staging Areas: ===================================== * KDE Applications 15.08.2 will be in Snapshot 20151022+ * KDE Frameworks 5.15.0 * Plasma 5.4.2 * GCC 5.2 will come your way * GNOME 3.18.1 But of course, openSUSE Leap 42.1 will remain the main focus point in the next few days; after all, we want to make this a great release.
