[opensuse-factory] [Heads up] possible plymouth "boot problem" with crypto partitions

Hi all, just a heads up: after updating from Factory today, the boot did not seem to complete, and the passphrase for my crypto home was not asked at all. I solved the problem by rebooting and removing the "quiet" from the kernel command line, thus using text mode boot which asked for the passphrase. [opensuse-factory] How can I mask the original entry in Grub2 after customizing it using 40-custom

Hello all, Since Grub2 has no way of editing the original "Section Field". I used the "40-custom" script to create "my preferred entry" that I would like to see in the boot menu. As of now, "my preferred entry" appears at the bottom of the menu. How can I _mask_ the original entry and replace it with "my preferred entry"? Cheers! Hi, I am almost ready to submit php 5.4 branch which now lives in home:pgajdos to devel project/factory as replacement of 5.3. There are also some dependencies building against it so you can try them out. Are there any objections against this step? Petr

[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Beta2 Questions (Akonadi and Mysql)

I updated from Beta1 to Beta2 using repo's: download.opensuse.org/Factory/repo/oss/suse/ and non-oss Since then When I try to start kmail, akonadi fails and says it cannot register at DBus. When i look for resources in system config there are now, even though it was working in Beta1. add resource is greyed out. When I try to start mysql, it says file /var/run/mysql/mysql.sock is not found. When is true. In 12.1 it exists there and also mysqld.pid is there in 12.1, but not 12.2 Has anyone seen either of these two problems? Any way short of clean install to look at this? Hardware is same as below, except 12.2 is on 1TB drive of its own. thanks in Advance. Hello: I've recently found that in openSUSE 12.1 my confiugred DSL device (ADSL router/modem) connection is not shown in YaST DSL device configuring window, therefore I can not make changes to the already configured connection (e.g. change when to connect). I wrote abut this on the opensuse mailing list. See: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2012-07/msg00104.html As I haven't found any other similar report by a google query, I guess that this issue might have not been fixed yet. Please check whether DSL device configuration works in oS 12.2 normally. I think you don't have to have a real DSL device, one can add a nonexistent device as well. [opensuse-factory] Has FailSafe or Safe Mode been removed permanently from 12.2?

Hello List Mates, I guess most of you have noticed that FailSafe or Safe-Mode has been replaced by Recovery Mode. Isn't Recovery Mode the same as Rescue? Recovery and Rescue boot to init 1.
