[opensuse-factory] Cinnamon submissions - ping coolo

Hi all, There's currently a tiny issue regarding the submission of Cinnamon identified by Coolo and Vincent (assuming). The Muffin package (a fork of mutter) typelib has the same name that mutter's. Currently everything seems to work, and though this library is internal to mutter/muffin it might bring issues in the future. This was taken upstream which will fix it, but not yet for the next release (due to the large number of changes required). My question is, since currently (maybe out of pure luck) we haven't any report of real issues, could we allow this in Factory until it gets fixed (most likely before the release 12.2) ? Furthermore... the typelib package naming policy. In the case of muffin/cinnamon, the typelib is internal and not public, which eventually falls out of the current typelib policies (since we are only considering public typelibs in the policy). Could this be allowed also: - typelib(Meta) = 3.0 Can we have the package named as typelib-3_0-libmuffin-0_0 ? And I would maybe suggest that internal typelib's could be packaged that way, so we have a distinction just by looking at the package name we know that: * libmuffin has a internal typelib (we don't know if it's Meta or anything else, but we can easilly find out with "rpm -qp --provides package"). I submit a package and in just five minutes the request gets automatically declined because "the sources has been changed". This happens each time I submit. In reference to https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/103430 , I wanted to find the correct license for PyMol per spdx.org . Not the CNRI listed in the spec file is incorrect. The Copyright can be seen at http://pymol.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pymol/trunk/pymol/LICENSE?revision=… , some people describe this as a modified MIT license (eg https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-legal-list/2009-August/msg00024.html ). [opensuse-factory] security repo maintainers - a few questions

Security maintainers, I've submitted a new role SR to be a maintainer of the security project since I've been pushing a bunch of DFIR packages there (Digital Forensics / Incident Response). Assuming I'm accepted, I have a few questions: 1) Is there a guideline for accepting new packages I submit? How about patches to packages I maintain. ie. Can I just submit them from my home and accept them with no review, or is their a concept of letting another maintainer accept my SRs? Is that for both new packages and for updates? 2) Several of the packages require packages from other repos to install. That's not a problem for factory / 12.2, but what about providing packages for 11.4/12.1. Should I just document that users need to install multiple repos? Or should I "osc linkpac" them to security? (If so, what's the best syntax for osc linkpac?) 3) dc3dd is currently in the archiving repo, but it makes more sense to me in the security repo. I want to push it to factory. Should I linkpac it to security first, then push from there? 4) So far I haven't submitted any pen testing tools. Since those can be used for both good and bad, I wanted to know if there is a established policy for that class of tool. ie. They are encouraged? discouraged? 5) I'd like to put together a wiki page that let's people know these DFIR packages exist. Is there an existing wiki page I can add to? [opensuse-factory] GPT Table Problem

Hello, can any tell me why, or is this is a Problem with YaST2. I create with discpart a GPT Table and install Linux in UEFI Mode and run in Problems, on second start the UEFI code is not correct written to the NVRAM? The System is not booting? When I check the disk after Installing, the GPT Table do not exist in diskpart anymore? Next installation written a new GPT Table with YasT2 The NVRAM is cleared with efibootmgr, afterward I have also a bad UEFI Entry in the NVRAM I have only 1 Entry (0000) but the boot Order is 0001,0001,0001,0000 Sometimes after NEW Installation the UEFI Boot is possible, but it is not longer possible to Start a other System or from DVD F10 (Startmenü) and F2 (Bios Setup) is not longer working. [opensuse-factory] [RFC DRAFT] Phasing out sysvinit

Hi: Supporting 2 different init systems comes with a large increase of possible usecases and scenarios that are very difficult to support correctly, specially in the long term. This RFC proposes steps to permanently phase out sysvinit from future openSUSE releases. Phase 0 - Fix all *currently* outstanding bugs of systemd if any, note that this step only deals with problems in systemd itself, not in service files installed by other packages, udev, kernel, networkmanager or whatever other thing. - Determine which services currently lack of native systemd units. - Add an rpmlint error with moderate badness for the start,complaining about the lack of unit files. Phase 1: - Delete sysvinit scripts that deal purely with hardware things,like only loading kernel modules, making udev to handle them or simple dropping a foobar.conf with the needed modules in /usr/lib/modules-load.d/ whichever is more adequate or doable. - Add missing systemd units for the packages where rpmlint warns. - Add rpmlint with badness complaining about logrotate, or other shell scripts calling files in /etc/init.d ... Phase 3: - Turn rpmlint warnings about the lack of systemd units on packages including traditional sysvinit scripts a fatal error. - fix logrotate or shell scripts that are calling sysvint scripts and make the rpmlint warning a fatal error. - tell RPM to %exclude files in /etc/init.d from packages, do not forc packagers to exclude these files themselves. - make all macros relevant to traditional init scripts a no-op, do not force packagers to remove those lines or add extra hacks to the already horrendous hackery in spec files. - test, test, test. - remove sysvinit and all the relevant bootloader options and from the documentation. -- ????? -- Profit. :-) This is just a quick brain dump, I am certainly missing something else. Hello, I would like to propose new package for Factory: grsync http://www.opbyte.it/grsync/ Brief: Grsync is used to synchronize folders, files and make backups. Detailed: Grsync is a rsync GUI (Graphical User Interface). Rsync is the well-known and powerful command line directory and file synchronization tool. Grsync makes use of the GTK libraries and is released under the GPL license, so it is opensource. It doesn't need the gnome libraries to run, but can of course run under gnome pretty fine. It can be effectively used to synchronize local directories and it supports remote targets as well (even though it doesn't support browsing the remote folder). Sample uses of grsync include: synchronize a music collection with removable devices, backup personal files to a networked drive, replication of a partition to another one, mirroring of files, etc. Inclusion of this package has been requested in http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2012-01/msg01204.html The corresponding fate entry is https://features.opensuse.org/313164 The package lived in Contrib for some time and now it is maintained in the 'network' project.
