[opensuse-factory] hugin added to Tumbleweed

Due to a mixup in my email system here, someone had asked me to add Hugin to Tumbleweed, but I lost their email (too many different devices all accessing the same imap server makes for a mess at times). [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed and KSplice

I've been testing and using Tumbleweed (with the intent on reviewing and recommending it on omgsuse.com) for a couple of weeks now and I've noticed a couple things: * LibreOffice seems to be updated ... all the time * Kernel updates *screw things up* for users I've run into the scenario a couple of times where my `zypper dup --from Tumbleweed` upgrades my kernel, and then before I can get around to a reboot, I need to log onto VPN or mount a FAT32 device. Both scenarios involving loading a kernal module that previously wasn't loaded. Has there been any discussion about incorporating KSplice with Tumbleweed for a truly seamless rolling distro? I'm conceptually familiar with KSplice as a technology and the "enterprise" service with supported kernels, but I'm not aware of too many folks using their technology "independent" of KSplice, Inc. They had to be explicitly enabled for use and were consistently refused for upstream acceptance. With no better hardware entropy source, they kept the pool full but are prone to third party manipulation via packet flooding. I noticed that since 11.4, we have installed haveged by default. Might it be a good idea to enable it by default as well? [opensuse-factory] RFC: forbid _service files

Hi, After a series of broken packages because of _service files I would like to forbid them in openSUSE:Factory. So far I've seen the use of _service files in factory as an experiment (I happily joined), but I see this experiment as failed. What I would like to propose is: - ban recompress, download and tarscm as _services (everything else should have been banned before) - instead we verify the Source urls and make packages that have invalid URLs "broken", so you can't SR them to factory. This means: the Source URL is now an important thing to change and no longer a bit rotting comment and we stop recompressing tars - this was a proposal from Adrian a while ago without much objection. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed KDE problems being reverted

Hi all, Well, so much for the KDE update in Tumbleweed. Due to some problems with it (i.e. I messed up and accidentally updated some packages to the 4.6.3 version while the rest were at 4.6.2), I've reverted it all, so soon everyone will see a big "downgrade" to the openSUSE 11.4 version of the KDE packages. I'll watch the 4.6.3 update and wait for that to settle down before adding it to Tumbleweed again. Sorry for the churn, but hey, due to the magic of zypper, this all "just works" even for downgrades. [opensuse-factory] [Tumbleweed] Missing KDE packages

Howdy folks, As of today, the KDE packages in Tumbleweed seem to be incomplete and/or some of them obsolete. Upon wanting to 'zypper dup' I found two packages making trouble: * libqt4-sql 4.7.3 (required by libqt4-sql-mysql 4.7.3, which is present in the repo). Tumbleweed repo carries libqt4-sql 4.7.2. * konqueror-plugins-lang 4.6.1, not present. Please provide this or any other version to match konqueror-plugins 4.6.1 present in the repo. [opensuse-factory] new package js for Factory

Hi, because of the changing release and focus changes within the Mozilla project, (it's likely that) Mozilla XULRunner won't be maintained anymore. Therefore we are going to ship a pretty static Firefox again (even with libmozjs compiled into the the big xul blob). In the past some people expressed interest to have a decent standalone JS interpreter library available for linking into certain packages. With the above mentioned changes it's now time to create that one instead of exposing the xulrunner included one. I've prepared an initial Spidermonkey (JS 1.8.5 as included in Firefox 4) package in mozilla:Factory and propose to add it to Factory. It would be nice to get some feedback from maintainers who could make use of it if it works for them as currently packaged or if there are any changes needed. [opensuse-factory] Call for Participation: FHS Relaunch

The LSB workgroup is preparing FHS 3.0, which will be the first FHS release since 2004. As part of that release, we are soliciting contributions from all interested parties. Our goal is to release FHS 3.0 by July 1 if possible. How to contribute: - We are continuing to use the old FHS Bugzilla, at http://bugs.linuxfoundation.org/. Please file any new bugs under the "FHS" product. If you have filed a bug there in the past, we will evaluate it shortly. If you have any additional information to provide, feel free to add comments to any of the bugs listed there. - We will monitor the distributions@ list, lsb-discuss, and the new fhs-discuss mailing list for feedback (see below regarding the latter). Feedback from the lists will likely end up being tracked as bugs in Bugzilla. - We have set up a new version control repository for the DocBook source to the FHS. It uses Bazaar, and can be found at http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/lsb/devel/fhs-spec. This can be useful for submitting proposed changes to the spec as patches. - We have a new mailing list for the FHS, fhs-discuss.
