[opensuse-factory] kde can't drag / move icons

openSUSE 11.4 M6 The other day I found that I was suddenly unable to move icons on my desktop. Nor can I move them around in a folder view widget on the desktop. When I tried to drag them, they wouldn't move, instead a selection rectange would draw as though I hadn't clicked an icon. So I created a new user to see if the problem existed there. No problem. So then I nuked my ~/.kde4 folder and let it regenerate. Problem is gone. But now all the sudden it is back again. I can't move icons. I do not have "lock in place" or "align to grid" checked. I tried a standard Desktop View, and a Folder View desktop activity. [opensuse-factory] Can't boot to Gnome live

I can't boot to runlevel 5 in the M6 Gnome live CD. The last message is "Loading keymap," and the screen then turns black and the system crashes. I'm trying to run it on VirtualBox 3.2. I can boot to the runlevel 3 login prompt, but I'm not sure what the username/password are and haven't taken it any further. M5 was fine until I did a dup with zypper. I scrapped that machine. I can boot to a Fedora vm so I'm not sure if the problem is in VB or the disk image. It passes the integrity tests. In runlevel 3 on ii.4 M6 of 6 A NET download forgot something at Login. That is Message Of The Day (MOTD). MOTD as shown is "Hint:" at a Login. Where is that found because /etc/motd" looks correct. [opensuse-factory] Need Help - gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad has been broken by mjpegtools.

Hi, gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad stopped building in factory, multimedia:libs and home:plater where I made the update. The present updated binaries in factory require libmjpegutils-1.9.so.0 and libmplex2-1.9.so.0 but mjpegutils are providing libmplex2-1.99.so.0 and libmjpegutils-1.99.so.0 but the devel package contains libmjpegutils.so and libmplex2.so. This will cause a blockage in zypper dup. I can try a quick workaround and just create the devel .so links but it's really better to get to the bottom of this. If you look in the spec file you will see a warning (I made it very hard to miss) about the pre checkin cripple script. I will solve the problem in the end but this problem needs solving fast! It's a good thing that one gst plugins bad plugin failed to build otherwise this could have gone unnoticed. [opensuse-factory] Missing Halt.local file in 11.4 MS 5 and 6

Just noticed an old error message that shows on boot that halt.local is missing from /etc/init.d. I see it is in 11.3. Should it be gone? Not sure if its a bug or corruption. I did not delete it and I just updated to 11.4 MS 6 today. Did not do clean install because of DVD issues.(to big). What in the world is changing permission on a fresh reload of 11.4 M6. So far something changed /dev/null so that "startx" failed and now a knosole won't return a curser. I found the problem with the gpm mouse not working. It turns out to be a i586 openSuSE problem with a defective binary gpm, next the permissions on /dev/input/mice or mouse0 is to tight (which are set by udev), then mouse0 and mice in /etc/sysconfig/mouse has both variable set as mice, and lastly the start script (echo $GPM_PARM} seems to have a problem with its variables. Where are the permissions.local setting for changing mouse0 and mice. I tried /etc/permissions.local and doesn't work at boot time. Grabbed the latest NVidia drivers from nvidia.com and deinstalled the drivers from the repo. I installed the minimum text-only selection, but zypper wasn't automatically selected? Sounds a bit silly and in 11.3 I'm pretty certain zypper was included by default. Hi list-mates, I've been integrating the artwork for 11.4 and I thought that it would be a good idea to write an openSUSE Branding HOWTO (gfxboot and bootsplash- branding-openSUSE). Will's KDE Branding HOWTO is here: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2010-06/msg00068.html If you have also done some branding, think about writing a HOWTO ;-) gfxboot Update the following images: back.jpg in themes/openSUSE/data-boot/ Startup options. 800x600 welcome.jpg in themes/openSUSE/data-install/ back.jpg in themes/openSUSE/data-install/ Install options. 800x600 You can get the svg of the CD shown in welcome.jpg at http://gitorious.org/opensuse/art/trees/master/cdboot bootsplash-branding-openSUSE Update the following files: All the silent-* and bootsplash-* images in themes/openSUSE/images/ silent-* is the non-verbose bootsplash bootsplash-* is the verbose bootsplash Take into account that bootsplash-* is the background image for the console (text should be readable). The sampling factor of both silent-* and bootsplash-* must be 2x2,1x1,1x1 (aka 411). You can convert them all at once running for file in *.jpg; do convert $file -sampling-factor 2x2,1x1,1x1 $file; done (requires ImageMagick) The current resolutions for both silent and bootsplash images are the following: 640x480 800x600 1024x600 1024x768 1152x768 1152x864 1280x768 1280x800 1280x854 1280x960 1280x1024 1366x768 1400x1050 1440x900 1600x1024 1600x1200 1680x1050 1920x1200 3200x1200 logo.mng is the logo for non-verbose bootsplash logov.mng is the logo for verbose bootsplash The configuration files are under themes/openSUSE/config/ There's no need to touch them unless you want to play with the mngs and the progress bar. Hello, mailman in Factory is still 2.1.11, while server:mail has 2.1.14. This most probably means that bug 633129 still applies [1] - short story: Mailman 2.1.11 is not compatibly with Python 2.6.x (and 2.7.x?), which results in various seriouos problems, like no digests sent out, people being not able to post to a mailinglist anymore and various funny backtraces being shown to users. I know it's quite late for a version update, but IMHO it can't get more broken. So please push the newer mailman version to Factory ;-) (If you don't want to do the version update, please at least apply the patch from bug 633129 comment #3.) Please also prepare an update for 11.3. [opensuse-factory] Murrine GTK engine issues?!

Hey, Have to start of with that im not sure wether to post this into opensuse-gnome or opensuse-factory. Thats why i sent to both lists. I seem to have some problems with the Murrine engine in 11.3+Factory Tested. Among others, the gnome panel has some issues, see attached image. The white border on the marked "urxvt" is not supposed to be there. The same problem occurs if i use the default Sonar theme. There the border is like light-green, not white. It was Not like that when i had a default 11.3 installation. I have Tried to compile murrine from source, but still, looks weird. I have tried other engines, like equin-eh whatever its called. and That one looks okey. Not sure howto "debug" it, or where to look for error messages. I Also see problems with the progressbar in Transmission-gtk, where it looks way off, like if it was 16 colors or something. I have tried googling and looking at the openSUSE forums, but so far, no go... Anyone experience the same problems and/or has some good ideas on howto get around them? br /smurfd

Hi list, libpng15 can be found in graphics project, feel free to test build with your packages. Details about api changes can be found in [1]. I would like quote only one paragraph from this document: " There are no substantial API changes between the non-deprecated parts of the 1.4.5 API and the 1.5.0 API, however the ability to directly access the main libpng control structures, png_struct and png_info, deprecated in earlier versions of libpng, has been completely removed from libpng 1.5. " Be sure I don't know now when will libpng15 become the default in the Factory, another mail will precede this change. [opensuse-factory] New package for NonFree

Hi, I just created a submit request for :Factory:NonFree for a package called suse-ami-tools. The most important part of the package is an init script that does the ssh-key injection for EC2 images, without which one cannot access a launched instance. Without this package it is not possible to create a working openSUSE image that can be uploaded to EC2 and access it. Would be great if the package could be included (also in 11.4, I know I am cutting it rather close, but I just figured out that this is critical to EC2). The two above mentioned packages started building too soon after checkin to factory and are stuck with a build failure looking at the previous base. configure: Requested 'gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 >= 0.10.32' but version of GStreamer Base Plugins Libraries is 0.10.31 configure: error: no gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 >= 0.10.32 (GStreamer Base Plugins) found Please trigger a rebuild. I reported a bug for M5 which needs more info, but I didn't get any response regarding how to mount my usb during install so I can copy over log files. If anyone who knows the answer helps me, I should be able to get the required info for the report. My question is copied below: How do I mount a usb during install? hi folks, as you might know, since virtualbox 4.0.0 "usb guest support" feature is now open source code, but during tests i found the problem : virtualbox needs full access to usb nodes, which of course, could lead to serious security problem (see bnc#664520 for details) - this means that (currently) virtualbox (provided by suse) doesn't have usb guest support enabled, by default as a workaround I added comment with two udev lines, which creates usb nodes in /dev/vboxusb/ dir with r/w access for vboxusers group (which feeds the virtualbox's needs), so after enabling these two lines (in /etc/udev/rules.d/60-vboxdrv.rules) , your attached usb devices will be available also in virtualized guest system, but please keep in mind this could be real security problem ! The two new packages, that I had ready two weeks ago but for libredland-python bindings being needed for lv2config which isn't even needed by others to build so far they use the pkg-config .pc. I became aware of the need for LV2 from this private email on new years day : I am using your Ardour-2.8.11-24.36.x86_64.rpm. Ardour can't find LV2 plugins Can you make it with LV2 enabled for opensuse 11.3 x86_64 greeting Anton vd Haterd Both packages are in multimedia:libs. It wasn't a simple task to enable because I had to hunt down and create slv2 which needs lv2core, the base LV2 package to build. I've since discovered other multimedia packages that use this simple and easy to use plugin system, which it turns out is not limited to audio, the latest being "gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad". http://lv2plug.in/docs/index.php?title=Main_Page The lv2core package is entirely a devel package with the lv2config being python, using redland python bindings, I'm relying on X11:common:Factory to get the updated redland package into factory (Vincent if you have any influence can you please help that? sr#59432 ). [opensuse-factory] Fail to install 11.4 M6 on Virtualbox PUEL

Hello, I tried to upgrade my 11.4 guest running zypper dup, then zypper downloaded/installed more than 1000 pkgs, at reboot X stops to starts. Then I downloaded 11.4 Build 1034-i586 and attempted to install it as guest on Virtualbox 3.2.12, in this case it has been a worst case since installation crashes after drivers loading. Wonder if are there some workaround in order to install M6 on Virtualbox PUEL.
