On my opensuse 11.3 machine, its a symlink to /dev/sda5. I ran your script and it echos "rootdev=/dev/sda5". My fstab has: LABEL=root / ext3 acl,relatime,user_xattr 1 1 I could change that to have /dev/root in the first column and reboot if you think it a useful test for you, but I suspect you need something booting from a LVM setup for /dev/root to be a meaningful problem? Apparently it is in openSUSE 11.3, but not in current openSUSE factory code which will be released as openSUSE 11.4 in March. Hi, can we please enable TOMOYO for 11.4 in the kernel. AFAIK there is no downside if it doesn't get used and it would spare people who want to use it recompiling the kernel just for the sake of enabling it in the config. [opensuse-factory] desktop filename changed for Firefox (and Thunderbird)

Hi, just a heads up as it might affect desktop environments: I just submitted a change for Firefox (and Thunderbird) which renames the desktop files MozillaFirefox.desktop -> firefox.desktop MozillaThunderbird.desktop -> thunderbird.desktop This was needed for gnome-shell apparently (bnc#664211) and makes sense anyway although it needs changes for preconfiguration of our desktops and will hurt upgraders a bit. Hey Group; Why is it that openSuSE insists on supplying the wrong Python 2.7 when you are shipping the recent version of Blender 2.56 which requires Python 3.1 or greater. This has happened twice and I have seen this problem before. [opensuse-factory] automatic pulling from devel projects into factory

Hi, from the recent discussions and from our experience at the network:samba openSUSE Build Service project we know that it's useful to have a mechanism to automatic submit a project to openSUSE:Factory. A good example is network:samba:STABLE. It's our goal to offer only STABLE code from this repository. While on the other hand it's a moving target as openSUSE:Factory is. From time to time it happens that one of us updates n:s:STABLE but doesn't submit request it into oS:Factory. That's bad in particular if it happens close to a code freeze. And from the recent discussion on this lists it sounds like such a feature might even be of help to other projects. I suggest to make this an optional configuration setting to save people one potential superfluous step. The default could stay the same way as it is now. This would even allow to enable and disable the mechanism to the project maintainers. [opensuse-factory] RFC: do we want all locales?

Hi, I have this bug assigned to me about missing locales: bug 659001. The bug is basically that some GNOME applications have translations for locales that we lack otherwise and so the GNOME packages have to handle them separately. The bug itself would be easy to fix, but I wonder if it's a good idea to package all locales existant or if we shouldn't limit ourselves somewhere. I mean, I have no good measure where this limit should be, but I feel that it's not wise to package all files in existance. Take e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sardinian_language (from the bug report it's in gnome-do and transmission). It has 1.85 Million total speakers and 5 dialects. It's impossible to know how many of those use computers regularly and how many of those would use linux (at least one of them translated GNOME though). But the main problem I see is: just having gnome-do won't help anyone to use the computer in the native language. So I would think that we don't gain much user experience but make the installs larger for everyone. So I would suggest that we introduce a macro that removes all languages not in filesystems, so we can still add new languages if the cost/benefit ratio exceeds a limit. What do you think?
