Hi, does anyone have any suggestions about where to look for the cause of frozen keyboard and mouse on any x screen, including sax2's own x. Hi,I must changed repository yesterday because I had problems with the old one.I use smart to update my system and change to http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/ like you. Well,the only thing I can say is I had no problems when I did it.Is true that when I update kernels I preferd smart because is so easy for me have the new kernel and not delete the old one thinking perhaps there were a problems with new kernel (is not the first time I see it). In this case,for me the better way is wait a few hours that all return to normality on repositories server. Hi, I tried to update my system via yast to http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/ and ended up in a state where my mouse and keyboard failed on any x screen, including sax2 at runlevel 3, consoles all worked fine including gpm mouse. I also had a situation where kernel sources and syms were updated to 2.6.27-7.2.i586 but my kernel-pae-2.6.27-rc5.git9.6.i586 remained. Is this a bug or a transitory problem due to me upgrading from the wrong place at the wrong time. I spent yesterday trying to get a working system but eventually had to do a clean install from 11.0 dvd. Is it impossible to update in this way at the moment? I unfortunately failed to save my logs. Hi All ! I believe everyonw has read that: http://www.linuxtoday.com/infrastructure/2008091902235NWSW In short: Today openSUSE's X server crashes if the video card gets upgraded. After reboot X doesn't start = reformat and reinstall <- That's what all new users will do. Do we want this reaction? Obviously not. BulletProof is a technology that can detect changed video card, and use VESA driver instead automatically, without the need for using command-line. I would like to see this technology adapted for openSUSE. Hi everyone, we don't have any Beta1 test builds yet, since we had to trigger a complete rebuild very late in the process -- therefore we are still bootstrapping the distribution and expect first test builds sometime tomorrow. [opensuse-factory] Yast improvment ide?

Hi, I just want to air an idea regarding Yast. We are using SLES and openSUSE in the company as our main Linux offering.Yast is the keys to why we use those in stead of anything else. But it's no supprise that most of our newcommers have never used Linux before (We are a 90% SW company and still....) Yast is then a very good starting point for them. One thing that is an obstacle is that not all services that Yast can provide are easily visible and this is where my ide comes inn. would it be possible/nice etc. to have an extra tab in the Yast Controll Senter section that reads something like "Uninstalled servers and services". In this sectio would all uninstalled yast options be listed. I think this would greatly help newcommers to find their way around all the possibilities that are present. If there is anyone else who thinks this might be usefull, then I'll add it as an improvement suggestion. cu / birger.... I've burned the 11.1 Beta 1 x86_64 DVD twice. It will boot with Suse graphics and all then after selecting 'Installation' it loads kernel into a text mode installer and gives the error: Make sure that CD 1 is in your drive. I can by using back button get 2 other errors: This is not a openSuse CD-ROM. and: No repositories found. I tried again using k3b. By default it burns DVD's at 4.1x with my DVD writer. I selected the slowest speed it offers 2.4x. When I booted it I got exact same results as before. :~/Documents/openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64-iso> md5sum openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64.iso d703398fbc34dabffc83b7f471efa847 openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64.iso md5sum matches what is found here: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta1/iso/delta/MD5SUMS.of.D… I then deleted torrent and data in Azureus and started download again from: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta1/iso/torrent/openSUSE-1… which is currently downloading. However it now gives md5sum as: :~/Documents/openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64-iso> md5sum openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64.iso 9e5efb791eb1736f83a53d4586d3e508 openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64.iso Even though: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta1/iso/delta/MD5SUMS.of.D… still lists correct md5sum as: 46258d054f334c623169225424826dbb openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-i386.iso d703398fbc34dabffc83b7f471efa847 openSUSE-11.1-Beta1-DVD-x86_64.iso I'm confused as to why installer didn't work? Am I doing something wrong? Also why md5sum is different? Keeping in mind that it is currently downloading. It is listed as 3.68GB which is a bit smaller than Alpha2 I think.
