[opensuse-factory] Beta1, black vertical stripes during install

Hi. During install there are black vertical stripes on the background making it hard to read. I searched Bugzilla and did not find anything relevant. Is this a known problem? [opensuse-factory] USB assignment

I realize that this is probably the wrong list to be writing this. However, it would seem like something to make more user friendly unless I am being foolish with such a question. I have a USB drive that I use to backup my important files to where the USB drive has an ext filesystem. I wrote a script to do the backup but I find that when I plug in the USB drive it doesn't always end up as the same device so my script fails or needs changing each time to reflect where the drive went. Yes, it's obviously a mountable drive. When I plug it in my SUSE 11.0 pops up a screen saying it noticed the device and asks me if I want to open it. That works. Then I know where it is and can point my script to it. However, I want to have my program figure it out or have a specific USB port reserved for this purpose. [opensuse-factory] LVM and 11.1 Beta 1

Has anyone successfully installed 11.1 beta 1 to an LVM based system? I get a boot failure: > waiting for /dev/system/root to appear - OK > node name not found > invalid root filesystem -- exiting to /bin/sh The partitions are set thus: sda1 /boot ext2, Formatted sda2 swap sda3,4 not used here (another OSL system) sdb1 swap sdb2 LVM (default settings) LVM-root / ext3, Formatted LVM-home /home ext3, Formatted LVM-data /data ext3, Not formatted Desktop KDE4.1 FWIW; everything else is default settings. Excellent idea, as long as the applications are easily accessible for those that have looser morals (like me). Mandriva only have this as two out of the three media are pay for only. I agree with Martin's suggestion of pop-ups. The number of different media can't be more than one dvd and two cds (yes, we the community can help create more, if there is demand). Regards, Andy P.S. Interestingly, when searching in bugzilla I had this one open but did not read far enough through to associate it to my problem... Well, I subscribed to the bug, so I'm aware when a new version of grub will be pushed out. In the meantime I'll just go with an older version of grub, like all the others. curious to see what actually broke. [opensuse-factory] Factory install no longer boots

Hello, This morning I changed the repo URLs from the /distribution path to the /repository path (/factory is still empty). Invoked a zypper dup, which of course 'downgraded' a lot of packages, which is not really surprising, as the release tags were just lower.. but version-vise it looked ok. The solver did not have any issues, no complains. After the installation of all the packages (which passed without problem too), I restarted the system. The bad thing now is, that it does not come up anymore... actually not even the grub bootloader comes up.. I can see 'loading grub, please wait' (or alike), but grub menu os selection never appears. How hosed is my install ? :) Which would be the best tip you can give me (I was planning on booting from CD, checking the boot folder, checking the grub setup, maybe invoking 'setup' from withing grub again... but you might have a shorter / faster trick at hand). [opensuse-factory] Why do some factory packages have lower versions than 11.0

Hi, I have just noticed that there are more than 175 packages in the temporary factory that have versions lower than 11.0, is it safe to update yet or should I wait? [opensuse-factory] Package Build ?

Hello, have any a workaround for build ? all packages "build" are broken (test , tools, factory, distry ) a long time (openSUSE 10.2), it is never possible to create a package for a older distry like 10.3, it is also never possible to create a driver update for the new kernel (AVM)? build don't include the update directory, or better it use only the kernel from the source ? -- mit freundlichen Grüßen / best Regards, Günther J.
