Hi, Note https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=391914 - knetworkmanager in current Factory (and probably even 11.0 GM) has no option to configure the WEP "shared key" mode. If you need to use a WLAN with a shared key, you can quit knetworkmanager and launch nm-applet instead (given you have it installed), which allows the right configureation. Let's hope knetworkmanager will gain support for this in an online-update (and 11.1-targeted Factory). [opensuse-factory] YaST crashes during installation on 11.0 GM (Internal Release)

I got a chance to prove 11.0 GM (Internal Release) and found a critical bug in DVD (both i386 and x86_64 version) installation process. DVD ISO images, which I used were below: ed6a5b3feb668866df812b1c2aed9d7f openSUSE-11.0-DVD-i386.iso 512c8346b0f8eb35f28c4eb96454d391 openSUSE-11.0-DVD-x86_64.iso If I select "日本語 - Japanese" as an installation language at boot screen (using [F2] pull down menu) or at "Welcome Screen", YaST crashes before the "Clock and Time Zone" screen opens. If I select ""English" as an installation language, no problem occurs. I confirmed this problem on my HP Laptop (with Core 2 Duo CPU), hand made Desktop (with Athlon64 CPU), and even on VirtualBox environment. I have not proved this problem would be reproduced or not if I select other muiti-byte languages such as Chinese or Korean yet, but this bug is certainly serious and critical for us Japanese. Hello, I just wanted to copy the kernel configuration file (/boot/config-2.6.25.4-10-default) from the latest factory kernel to my own kernel. So I downloaded http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/suse/i… Unfortunately none of the usual tools to unpack RPMs (rpm, rpm2cpio, mc) could read the downloaded package. Here is an example with "rpm". But "mc" and "rpm2cpio" have the same problem with this package: rpm -ivh --nodeps kernel-default-2.6.25.4-10.i586.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:kernel-default ########################################### [100%] error: unpacking of archive failed: cpio: Bad magic At first I thought the download may be corrupt. But all the checksums are right: rpm --checksig /tmp/kernel-default-2.6.25.4-10.i586.rpm kernel-default-2.6.25.4-10.i586.rpm: (sha1) dsa sha1 md5 gpg OK I am using openSUSE 10.3. Are the RPM tools of openSUSE 10.3 incapable to read openSUSE 11/factory rpm packages? I saw on http://en.opensuse.org/Factory/News#Changes_between_openSUSE_11.0_Alpha_3_a… that openSUSE factory now uses RPM files with LZMA payload. Could this be the reason? [opensuse-factory] Cannot asign a new keyboard shotcut (KDE4)

Hi! I don't know if is my ignorance or a bug, but if I go to "kde system preferences" (using KDE 4 with opensuse 11 updated up today), and try to assign a shotcut to "go to desktop number 5" --> CTRL-F5, but is impossible. No "assign" menu, if I doble-click doesn't make anything... Anybody could help me, please? I have to say one nice change would be to change the default "Sans" font to something nicer... "FreeSans" renders way better with the font smoothing. The "sans" font is functional but IMO a little ugly... Hi, since quite some years Samba binaries for SUSE products are provided at ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/samba/ in an old-fashioned way. Several times in the recent past we, the Novell Samba Team, go the request to maintain Samba in the openSUSE Build Service (OBS). Thanks to Ludwig Nussel who gave an intensive hands on session some weeks ago this service is now up and in continous operation. Currently we have STABLE (3.0.30) and TESTING (3.2.0rc2) projects for CentOS, Fedora, Mandriva, RedHat Enterprise (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE), and openSUSE. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/samba:/MAINTAINED:/ provides dedictaed repositories with the Samba versions in use with SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) products. At the moment there are repositories for SLE 9 and 10. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/samba:/ is a generic entry point and provides an overview of the current project structure. http://software.opensuse.org/search might be convenient too. All the package sources are useable by YaST, zypper, yum, or smart. http://en.opensuse.org/Samba provides general information about Samba at SUSE. Hi all, I'm using smart to keep my factory updated.
