I changed my computer and with this my linux installation from Suse8.1
I need for my work, that a programm is running at another maschine. For
this, I use a ssh connection an export the display. I can start the
program (matlab) and can open the windows.
Now my problem. It ist recognized, that I must copy a few lines from one
editor to another window. Please dont ask me why it is, it is so.
O.K. With my Suse8.1 configuration, it works fine. But with Suse9.1, I
got strange reactions. The copy between two consoles is O.K. Under
matlab it is not possible to mark the text in one window, my keyboard is
not active until the NUM-KEY_led is on and when I paste the text in
another window, I got not that, what I want and what i had marked.
If anyone have a good idea, what ist could be,
please help me.
I'm gratfull for any information, link or other Newsgroups.
Greetings and thanks
I was curious to know when X.org 6.8 will be released (it was supposed
to be released on 3rd September), will there be rpms for 9.1 Prof? I
am currently using the X.org 6.7 rpms and would like to try out 6.8
due to couple of very annoying issues I am having.
Will there be any updates of X.org or SAX2 for SuSE Linux 8.2 ?
SuSE Linux 8.2 is still suported by SuSE, and I can get updates for it.
But only for kde and security related stuff, not for SAX2 or the X server.
The X server for 8.2 is Xfree86, I would like to replace it with X.org.
Why can't I get any updates for SAX2 or X.org for this version, altough
it is still a suported version of SuSE ?
Thanks in advance.

X11 R 6.8.1 contains security fixes for libXpm.
Unfortunately the announcement of the release preceded
the announcement of the fix.
I expect that SUSE will have security updates for all
maintained products shortly.
Forgive my lack of knowledge about X and KDE. I just got
finished installing Suse 9.0 and am getting very erradicate
keyboard and mouse support.
Right after the install, when it asks for root password, the
keyboard stopped working. Had to reboot into single user mode
to set root password and create users.
The keyboard works fine whenever in text mode. However,
whenever I go into the GUI environment I get erradicate
behaviour. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work, sometimes the
mouse, sometimes both. Sometimes the keyboard works but the
key bindings are slightly wrong.
Any solutions you can offer would be greatly appreciated. A
fresh install isn't out of the question, but I want to track
down the problem, as I think a reinstall won't have an affect.
It's a Dell G280 System fresh from the factory.
USB Dell Keyboard
USB Dell Wheel Mouse
512 DDR SDRAM
80 Gig Maxtor SATA (downgraded in bios to ATA to get recognition)
Integrated Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet
USB Epson Scanner
USB HP Laser Printer
Thought USB could be the problem so I unplugged the USB
scanner and printer, had no effect though.

A XF86Config should still be used as a fallback. At least it used to work
when I added the code for the 6.7 release.

That's bad :-(
I know that a lot of things have been changed at the driver to add
render support. However this should not slow down application startup
time. In fact application startup time has very little to do with
2d graphic performance.

You may have to turn on accel support for the RENDER extension.
I hope the radeon man page gives some hints on how to do this.
Also you will have to enable the Composite extension if you haven't
done so already. Unfortunately this has not been added to the
xorg.conf man page.
I recently moved to X.org 6.7 from XFree86-4.3.99. Under X.org 6.7, I
notice that kdm and gdm crashes consistently. Both worked fine with
XFree86-4.3.99. I switched to xdm and xdm works fine with X.org 6.7.
Once I login, everything works just fine. It is the display manager
that seems screwed. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
