Problem with XFine2

I hope someone can help, I have added a modeline to XF86Config in order to handle a 1280x800 resolution. All other resolutions were removed. YaST2 reports the resolution correctly, but XFine2 is reporting 1024x768. KDE is also starting up in 1024x768. Is there some trick to getting XFine2 and KDE to use the correct resolution and not 1024x768? I'm using Suse 9 with updates. Many thanks for your time, -Scott

Problems with and after nvidia-5328

Hi, I recently updated to the latest NVidia-Driver Release 1.0-5328 on my SuSE 9.0 with a Geforce4 440MX. I followed the Howto from SuSE for the Installer at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/ suse/i386/supplementary/X/XFree86/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html After the Installation glxgears was running with only 50 FPS and any Hardware-Acceleration has been gone. glxinfo showed that I use the GLX-Version 1.3 from NVidia. So I made a rollback to the recent Release 4496 and Hardware3D has been restored. But when I start MarbleBlast now and activate Stencil Shadow I still get only about 30 FPS. Without Stencil Shadow it works pretty good. Before this Up- and Downgrade I runned MarbleBlast with Stencil Shadow always. Any idea what I made wrong? DRI isn't supported, TV in isn't supported, nothing seems to be with the exception of the base card itself. If you plan on doing TV stuff go to mythtv.sourceforge.net (or maybe myth.sourceforge.net) and check that out. Some where in the list of things you'll get turned on to another TV in/out project, freevo I think, and they have a good hardware database to use. But in short mostly any card with a brooktree interface (bt) will work also somem, if not most, of the Hauppage cards will work. I say most because you don't want to use the USB stuff, from what I can tell. I'm thinking of chucking my ATI all in blunder card for nVidia and a Hauppauge PVR 250 and using MythTV. HTH

A Problem with the ca_enhanced keyboard within XFree86

Hello, I am using SuSe Professionnal 9.0, XFree86 and KDE. I used yast to configure my keyboard as French Canadian (ca_enhanced), and I'm getting problems with the ALT-CAR key, which is the RIGHT ALT (also called Alt Meta, or Meta Alt, I think). Normally (on any other linux distro), I can type @'s and \'s with ALTCAR-2, and ALTCAR-#, respectively. The problem is that with SuSe 9.0, I can only use the ALT CAR key into the console mode (ALT-F1 through ALT-F6). In XFree86, when I type ALTCAR-#, I get # instead of \, and for ALTCAR-2, I get 2 instead of @. So in XFree86, the ALTCAR key seems to be ignored for some unknown reason. In the ca_enhanced keymap file, everything is there, @ and \ are listed in their places with ALT META, and as I already said I only get this bug with SuSe 9.0, so I'm sure it's not the keymap file. Any advice anyone? I'd like to get rid of that problem, because I'd like to be able to type @'s with cutting and pasting an @ I write in a text file from console (!), and because this is the ONLY bug I get with SuSe (would be great to get that working out) Regards, Paul Dubé
