Hello, I installed Xen with this manual http://www.opensuse.org/Installing_Xen3 After reboot my network interfaces doesn't work. Is there a manual available howto configurate the xen bridge? Can this be done by YaST? Regards, Andi

Wiki structure

I would like to start a discussion on the general structure of the wiki (including the side and top navigation bars). I guess the first thing is to get the view of the openSUSE core team, as they probably have some plans already in terms of general site navigation etc. and how the different laguage wikis will integrate. Everything contributed to the wiki at the moment is reached through the Documentation page, this to me is simply wrong. I don't think that the project pages, wishlists etc are documentation in that sense. I propose that we have either a "wiki" link or perhaps a "Community" Link on the side navigation, probably replacing the How to Participate link. I have more ideas, and areas to cover, especially on the the User Documentation page - we need to discuss and reach a consensus on what the links and layout should be. Although I'll let the people on the list (if there are any yet :-) enter into the discussion first. Pflodo

When I eneter a webpage, I need to add the www, because otherwise I do get send to the frontpage. Why does OpenSuSE mailing-list are on ezmlm?

I know this is not exactly the right place to ask this question, but among the available mailing-lists it is the closest to the subject. OpenSuSE mailing-list are managed by ezmlm. This is a strange choice considering: 1. There is no ezmlm RPM package in OpenSuSE. It is a bit odd that a distribution uses a software on its servers that it does not even distribute... 2. Mailman has many more features and has a RPM package in OpenSuSE. Why then ezmlm?! Mark

Differences between logged in and not

When I am not logged in, I can edit just a section by clicking edit at the right. When I am logged in, I can only edit the whole page, wich can be a burden with large pages. Is this a bug or a feature? Language wikis

I noticed that the roadmap has been updated that opensuse is about to release language wikis in french, german, spanish, and we were told earlier that this would be like the Wikipedia way of doing it. This implies that each language has its own Wiki database, and interwiki linking will be supported. I know that time will tell, but is the Image: and User: namespace shared across the different language wikis? Otherwise wiki users home pages will belong to one specific language, and all images will need to be uploaded for each langauage. Pflodo

Uploading multiple images

Hi all, I am just stumbling on the point if it is possible somehow to upload multiple images at once instead of doing them one by one? Right now I am working on some FAQs and HOWTOs with many images and to now I upload them to my own Webspace and link them directly in the wiki. What to do about copied pages?

Wat must be done about pages that are a clear copy and paste from another page? A) Change the layout, so it is included in openSUSE.org B) Delete it e.g. http://www.opensuse.org/Anjuta and http://anjuta.sourceforge.net/features User Amikarpe has entered a lot other pages like that. I asume he just clicked on the words in http://www.opensuse.org/Product_Highlights and added what he found. Also again a plea to ask what will come in the place of http://www.opensuse.org/Product_Highlights ? Are there people thinking about that, because again, it is absoluly NOT the *Product Highlights* that are seen on that page. I rather have the info from http://www.novell.com/products/suselinux/ -> Product Info -> Features. Wiki Search

If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/ you will notice that the search has two buttons [Go] and [Search]. The [Search] will search for the word in all pages (full text) and give a list of results. The [Go] will look for the word in a title and if it finds a match go straight to that article, if not it will do a full text search and give a list for results. Now the openSUSE wiki only has one action and it is the [Go] action. This means that if you want to search for say all pages that contain GIMP you can't as it takes you straight to the GIMP page. I think this should be changed.

Heading Styles proposal.

I propose that we change the Heading styles on the openSUSE.org website. The current issues I see with the current styles is: 1. Heading 1 is inconsistent with the others. 2. The difference between the headings is not sufficient (especially Heading 2 and 3), which can cause confusion on what belongs to what on anything larger than a small page. Has anybody managed to turn on the Auto-Number Headings in the User Prefs?

Standard rules for the wiki

Are there any standard rules for the openSUSE wiki? Things that will make it clear thoughout the wiki what things mean. What I am talking about is when to use italic, when to use bold and so on. What I do now is if it is a filename or directory or relates anyhow to what you type, I use italic when used in a sentence. When it is an actual command and I use it in a sentence, I use bold. I see others sometimes use <tt> for commands used in a line. Things you actually type, I do like: # command Also should we link as much possible things as possible, or not? What about things that meantion SUSE in any form? Should we as a standard link that to the apropriate place, or not? The same for external programs and/or companies, like Adobe, Sun, Java, Macromedia. Are there any other standards that we should be watching out for?
