Why does this only happen with the KDE3 repo and none of the others? KDE3 (konqueror, kview, etc...) no longer displays Gif 89a

All, Ran into an interesting image library problem in konqueror preview, kview, etc.. for some reason Gif 89a images are no longer shown. Here is an example image on paste.opensuse https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/885a14ec9b59 The image shows fine in all the Gtk viewers, but not in the Qt/KDE3 apps. In TW 20230202 +, KDE3:kmail3 can no longer send via SMTP and SSL/TLS pop no longer works. The TW version doesn't seem to matter. The cause is something in kdelibs3 3.5.10-241.19, possibly in combination with kdepim3 3.5.10-290.18. There is a workaround... I used /var/cache/zypp with rpm --upgrade --force to revert to kdepim3-3.5.10-290.18.x86_64.rpm, which had no effect, but also reverting to kdelibs3-3.5.10-241.16.x86_64.rpm got everything working again. Auto-hidden taskbar disappears after Xorg updates?

All, On 15.4, I have had the taskbar, set to auto-hide, disappear after Xorg updates. This has occurred twice in the past month or two after xorg updates. The solution is simple, open kcontrol, desktop, panels and then toggle the auto-hide option off/on and then all works as it should again. I don't know if this is worth looking at, the first time it occurred, I just chocked it up to a one-time deal. But after the identical thing occurred after the most recent updates, there is something specific that triggers this behavior. What Causes KDE SSL Information Dialog to Appear?

All, I was away from my computer for a while and came back and there was a "KDE SSL Information" dialog on my screen informing me of a problem with the national weather service NOAA site certificate. Fusion-Icon (Compiz Fusion Icon) in KDE3 repo SegFaults

All, Just tried the Fusion-Icon to mess with compiz a bit. It was working on 15.0, but needed help with some of the various features, but on 15.4, it won't start at all resulting in: $ fusion-icon * Using the Qt4 Interface * No module named PyQt4 ... Trying another interface * Using the Qt3 Interface Segmentation fault (core dumped) Any idea where to start here? Open a bug? I'll see if I can start compiz manually with compiz --replace to switch from kwin to compiz, but fusion-icon is the convenient way to do it as well as switch back and forth between the window decorators. -- David C. Original Server Authentication Dialog

All, For completeness, this "Server Authentication" dialog is the first dialog that was shown, clicking "Details" brought up the last one I posted: https://paste.opensuse.org/33161863 I haven't attempted any connection to tgftp.nws.noaa.gov. That's what makes this so bizarre. I did get a recent e-mail from them: nws.radarfeedback(a)noaa.gov But that was in Thunderbird. There isn't any attachment or live link to any ftp site there, so I'm at a loss at what triggered the "Server Authentication" and SSL Information dialogs. UNLESS -- this is the kweather app connection -- now this is making sense (though I didn't know that was SSL or that a cert-error in kweather could trigger a check??) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Bug 1204252 - KDE3 khelpcenter path in some apps can't launch susehelp:

All, Minor F1 (help) key can't launch susehelp bug filed: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1204252 screenshot attached to bug. This involves kspace-duel (and others) that can't respond to the F1 key being pressed. This is a minor bug that if I recall correctly is simply the application help path not being updated to the main /opt/kde3/doc/HTML path (may have html - lowercase instead). The actual help-content in khelpcenter is fine. You just have to launch khelpcenter and navigate to it manually rather than getting there with the F1 key. This is filed is a "minor" bug to be worked "as time permits". (damn, if this is all I have to complain about in openSUSE KDE3 -- it's in great shape!) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

[kde3] laggy repos + constant rebuilds = highly annoying

Does ever a day go by that none of KDE3 for TW gets rebuilt? Whatever d.o.o. is directing zypper to here is creepy-crawly slow. It takes longer on average for a dup to download KDE3 files than it does all others put together. kde3-oxygen-icon-theme takes more than a minute to download.
