Hello!
I want to thank all who made possible to use KDE3 in openSUSE Leap 15.1
(and previous releases).
KDE3 works excellent in Leap 15.1. I found some earlier problems has
been
fixed, eg I can now switch runlevel in terminal sessions using init 3/5
when kdm3 is the login manager. I also found in KDE3 repo working
shrew/ike
which I missed in Leap 15.0.
There is one problem in KDE3 session. I don't know if it is KDE3
specific,
I havent't tried other session managers.
The problem is when …
[View More]the screen saver is active, I can not wake
the destop up using the mouse or the keyboard. I can switch to a
terminal
session (eg ctrl+alt+F1) and back to the graphical session
(ctrl+alt+F7),
and this switching wakes up KDE session.
The secreensaver is set to "Blank Screen" and "Display Power Mangement"
is
turned of. This is my usual setup.
My grapchics card is (from hwinfo output):
PCI 02.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA)
Hardware Class: graphics card
Model: "Intel 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics
Controller"
Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation"
Device: pci 0x0102 "2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated
Graphics Controller"
Revision: 0x09
Driver: "i915"
Driver Modules: "i915"
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Istvan

Up to now, I've installed all the KDE4 software (up to Opensuse 42.3), then
deleted all the KDE4 versions of Kontact, added KDE3, and used KDEPIM from
the KDE3 version for email and so on.
Now I find that Amarok has the Wikipedia function broken in15.1 and I wonder
howmuch effort it would take to install a minimal version of Opensuse 15.1
and then install KDE3.
Any comments on the wisdom of doing this? Would I be better off using Trinity?
Thanks, Bob
