Hello:
I have openSUSE 12.2 with KDE3 from KDE3 repo.
I have problems with removable media, especially handling of USB flash disks.
1.
I frequently use two desktops at the same time on two terminals.
One user on one terminal (eg vt7) and another user on another terminal
(eg vt8).
Previously in such cases when I plugged in a USB stick, it was mounted under the
user name whose desktop was active at the time when the stick was plugged in.
If I switched to the other user he could not unmount the device.
Mounting, unmounting, transfering files never caused any problems.
In openSUSE 12.2 this behavior became unreliable. After mounting a USB stick
several times the stick is unmounted/remounted by the system automatically.
Many times when I want to transfer files to the stick I get error message indicating
the stick cannot be found, though I haven't unmounted it.
If I mount a stick as user 1, I can't unmount is as user 1; unmount/safely remove
asks for root password. But if I switch to user 2 I can unmount the stick as user 2.
I don't know is this is openSUSE 12.2 issue, KDE3, or both.
I did not try other desktop.
2.
When I eject a CD/DVD tray and close the tray, the system always ejects the tray
once more. That is I close the tray, and it reopens, and I have to close it again.
It is not a big problem, but annoying. This happened is oS 12.1 too, but not in 11.x
What can be the reason of the issues mentioned, and how could I fix them?
Thanks,
Istvan
